Part 1 - Focusing on extending the arm when diving to the corner, ensuring we get maximum reach. I used to notice before that when I watched footage back of some of my diving attempts in games I was preparing for contact with the ground before I had even finished out my dive. This meant that I lost out on inches (and sometimes more) in my dive.
A simple exercise such as the one here, with a focus on extending the lower arm with each dive, can make a huge difference. How many times do we here 'Games are decided by inches'?
Part 2 - Kickout - Being able to kick to either wing without having to take an age to work our feet trying to get around the ball can be a massive weapon for a goalkeeper to have in their locker. How often does it happen in a game that we line up to deliver a kick one direction but then that avenue is closed off and we have to revert over to the opposite wing?
Being able to do this with the minimum amount of adjustment means a quicker delivery and your outfield teammates will start giving you more options as they know you can go either way.
Again, looks simple but is extremely effective and does take practice.
Massive credit to Roman 'Shadd' Gallagher again for the video work (and serving!). Check out his channel here:
