Clearly showing the nerves of someone who has not competed in a while but I expect as time goes by and she gets back into the swing of things that her overall performance will improve. As someone else noted though, her leaps and turns were beautiful.
That’s what I’m worried about for her and Suni-not the skills, the nerves and being consistent after time away. But Gabby looks fabulous otherwise. I’m rooting for her.
@@tanithschneider3051 Well Suni has a leg up on Gabby in that she got to perform earlier this year and so some of the nerves would have been worked through. This is the FIRST TIME for Gabby after such a long time so the nerves were going to show. Hoping they can both put it all together next time.
Despite initial doubts by many, she has made significant progress. However, there is still a long long way to go before she can realistically compete for a ticket to the Games.
@@carrietremble Anything can happen silly this is gymnastics … and if anything Gabby has proven on more than one occasion that she can hit when it matters. She’ll have a better showing at core classics
Hasn’t competed in 8 years and still has some of the best leaps I’ve ever seen. She’ll get more clean landings as she competes more and gets more confidence. I love seeing her back!
True, but look at the athletes that competed in jesolo. None of them are anywhere close to Gabby's scoring potential. They didn't even take the B team to Jesolo. They took the C team.
Just love her. MASSIVE RESPECT! I mean, out of competitive gymnastics for God knows how long. Wow 😮 I watched her in undercover boss. What a beautiful soul.
So much Credit to Gabby for doing AA here. She is least ready on floor, so I feel this is a pretty great start and has a foot in the door. I imagine we’ll see a vast improvement next time she competes. Her vault was pretty fierce and she was solid and showed some great form on beam. Was a good first meet back after 8 years! 🙌
Gabrielle has to start somewhere. On the bright side, she can only go up from here on out! Just has to concentrate on doing her best. Set a goal for improvement with each competition. Gabrielle has to shake off the rust, dust, crust & nerves and just do it for herself. Be her girlish best! She should be pleased to have this one under her belt. I know she will watch the replay, get mad and get after it. Her dance looks good its improved. But she could help her cause 100% by choosing more pleasant, upbeat, melodic music befitting a spring or summer in Paris. Her FX music sounds like, something played at a caveman's funeral. Its Halloween music. Gabrielle is a light, summery & charming essence not a heavy funeral procession. Loose the music its not her. Gabrielle just needs to relax and be herself. Gabby has to express herself! There's only one Gabrielle, Christina, Victoria Douglas!
Gabrielle doesn't have to limit her comeback to Paris 2024. She can continue competing into the next quad. Gabby can also try for LA 2028. She has to give herself more than 1 year to train for her comeback after nearly a decade out of the sport. Queen Gabrielle should keep training into the 2028 Olympics. She can still study, tour with Simone & Cirque De Soleil etc.,etc. She can cross train to make her tr training less boring.
I love Gabby. She’s done amazing things in her career, and if she wants to attempt a comeback, good on her. I just don’t think time is on her side. I’ve see so many people say “If she incorporates xyz, she can improve her D score, then she just needs more time and more competitions!”. Nationals are exactly 2 months away, and the Olympics start in 3 months. Obviously, Gabby is not in “clean up the routine, fix little details” stage, she’s in the “I haven’t competed in 8 years and I’m barely landing things” stage. She’s in the “I can post a cool video to Instagram landing an insanely difficult skill, but I cannot put up a clean, consistent routine” stage.
It has been suggested by certain fans that this comeback is simply a strategic move to reboot her brand, rather than a genuine attempt to qualify for the US Olympic team. There isn't enough time to reach the performance level required to make it to the games.
@@mrpartscertain fans aka internet racists who don’t want to see this girl win If you see her body you clearly see that she’s been training gtfo with these conspiracy theories You don’t know shit and can’t tell what will happen in these next few months you’re sitting back and watching just like the rest of us. Who’s to say that Gabby can’t turn this shit around and show out at core classics??? Y’all sure love to talk shit about her while giving grace to these other bum ass gymnasts. The fact that gabby is even doing hard skills at the age of 28, nearly 8 YEARS removed from this sport is showing she’s not faking this comeback. Quit spreading lies about black gymnasts.
to me it seems like: she tried to stick the double tuck, was short and fell; that kind of alarmed her a bit, so she over-rotated her remaining two passes and went OOB/took a huge step back
I love gymnasts coming back, but it frustrates me when they wait too long to get it together. They should get two years of competing back in before attempting an Olympic team.
Even last year would have been good. She came back in 2015 for 2016. Coming back the year of is not a recipe for success. Suni is in the same boat but at least that's due to her health. She literally couldn't compete earlier.
Please shut up respectfully, people like you who never accomplished anything in life always are hypercritical of athletes. At least she tried the all around and this is her first competition in 8 years she deserves grace.
Her form actually looks good, just looks like she’s rushing through some of the skills and second guessing her landings. Pretty good first outing i’d say!!
She’s not here to impress you either .. she came out of a retirement because she found joy for the sport again. She’s allowed grace after an 8 yr hiatus where were you when Suni flopped at winter cup??? Y’all weren’t nearly as hard on her as y’all are on Gabby who’s had way more time off
I think it’s a fair point. Especially the fall on bars, which lead to a 2nd fall. But the fact that she WAS able to do AA and didn’t have super watered down routines and make it thru feels like a very solid start.
American Classics has always been a super low-key competition. For Winter Cup, it's because it wasn't broadcast on NBC/Peacock. No broadcast money, no money to rent an actual arena.
US gymnastics fault for not letting her go to April camp , and also try get one of the recent international assignments ! Chelsea said she could go and they changed their minds like a day before ! She needed a few comps to get those jitters out , and be more solid by classics . Now she has 1 comp to get it right . Especially given she had covid at winter cup , and being a past champion , was not right to block her from camp . Anyway hopefully she can get those nerves under control , but now time is not on her side . Still good luck Gabby , rooting for you ❤
Gabby did NOT meet the criteria for the April training camp, plain and simple! She had NO qualifying score, and she is NOT a reigning Olympic medalist! If they would have let her go, they would have had to let ANYBODY with the inclination go!
