Hey, Bob. You're right! It was a Frankie Goes to Hollywood song. Can't say I really remember it, but I'm sure I've heard it at least once at some point. I had to go look it up, but both versions went to #1 in the UK. Frankie's in 1984, hers in 2012. It was the first single from her debut album.

lovely wishes from a huge musicfan in general from germany. I love this version of Gabrielle aplin. I knew the Original Song as well , but this Version is absolutely stunning and i know this since it came out back in the days. I also like her new Song "call Me" You have done a realy good Reaction Video here - first time i saw you. I hope my english is okay 🙂

Hello Manuel. It's not too often that I enjoy a cover more than the original version, but I have to admit that I like this more than the Frankie Goes to Hollywood version....both are good though. Actually , i feel the same way as you do about Covers and Originals. Sometimes a soing gets covered so many time. that sounds great that you do a Reaction to Call me :-) Thank you for letting me lnow that my english is great - I've always been interested in learning more and more English. So happy to see you reacting to Gabrielle Aplin! This was her debut single and it went to No.1 after being used in a John Lewis Christmas advert in the UK. Interestingly, Ellie Goulding (who you reacted to recently) did a cover of Elton John's "Your Song" which was also used in a John Lewis Christmas advert, popularising her version. Another parallel between Gabrielle and Ellie is that when Gabrielle was just starting out, she posted covers on RU-vid, and one of the songs she covered was "The Writer" by Ellie which you reacted to! 😄 I'd love to see more reactions to both artists. Gabrielle has many great songs on her debut album. Her songs "Home" and "Salvation" are fantastic. They're both kind of slow so if you want something more up-tempo, I recommend her song "Light Up the Dark" which was the lead single from her 2nd album of the same name. It's more rock oriented than her debut album. 🙂

Off topic, but pertinent to a previous react video, Angelina Jordan. Reason why she sings barefoot is a sweet one. When she was on tour, she met a local girl that was barefoot cause she was poor. Angelina gave her the shoes off her feet then made a promise to sing barefoot until a lot poor kids didn't have to go shoeless.

A lot more power in Frankie's orginal version. Gabrielle's version change the mode and meaining of the song, but it is still great. I think that really good song can be song in just about any style and still be great.
