Hi Jonas, Monfils was streaming on Twitch yesterday and talked and about his racquet and showed the customized esthetics. This includes a Wakanda symbol on the buttcap. His clothes are also customized with the Wakanda symbol. He did say he worked with Artengo to obtain the resulting racquet. He confirmed the racquet sold in stores is the same one he uses but his is customized.

Well played Artengo. Most rackets SHOULD be less than half the price they currently are. People should just stop buying for a while to force these companies back down into a reasonable form of pricing. Over £200 for a racket is actually disgusting.

I immediately thought Prestige when you put up the specs. My recollection is that Monfils has a super-heavy frame and it makes sense that he uses a control frame with all of that weight. And the price for this looks great too. My guess is that it won't be a big seller as that's not what most players are looking for today. Nobody ever borrows my frames more than once because they are heavy and control oriented.

This racket is the direct descendant of the artech project, which was a series of custom rackets born from an idea of raffaello barbalonga who worked for decathlon at the time, they were basically pro stock level at around 140-150 euro

Bought this racket in the 16x19 version a few days ago and it´s been a really nice racket to play with. I´ve felt exactly the same thing you´ve talked about as it needs some costumization to the player preference. Stringed it with Luxilon AluPower 125 at around 52lb. What i´ve felt is that it doesn´t give any free power, at all... It´s a very good racket for control as it´s easy to keep the ball in the court easily. After stringing, with an overgrip and a dampener, it weighed 331gr but i´ll add a little strip off lead to the head (5/6gr) at 9/3 position and some to the handle (4gr) to balance it out and see if it increases power a bit more.

Switched to this Artengo TR 960 Control Tour 18x20 after trying Yonex Vcore Pro 97D, Tecnifibre TF40, Babolat Pure Strike VS - I think that tells a lot about the quality of this racket. With just a little bit of weight, it can deliver a good punch with great control and a good connection to the ball. The QC with my three rackets was also very good 👍🏻

Always love your videos. Your channel name says it all. No one knows tennis racquets like Tennisnerd. Thanks. Just as a side note, I have been a racquet-aholic since 2015 when I started playing regularly. I am almost embarrassed to tell you how many racquets I have owned since then, but it has been many, including new modules and older modules, including your beloved Prestige MP, both the new one and older models. Here is what I have narrowed it down to. I won't type the list of all 16 racquets in this post, but I do see an interesting trend. It seems that racquets from around 2015 and shortly thereafter are high on my list, including the Wilson Pro Staff 97, Blade 98S, the Head Graphene Extreme MP, and the Babolat Pure Drive Tour. I also like the a couple of the Graphene XT racquets from Head, the Instinct MP and the Speed MP A. Seemed like a great period of manufacturing that offered feel, power, and stability.

Great content. I bought two of these. Specs were close to the Wilson clash with lower swing weight. I added weight to 10+2, over grip and alu power at 53lbs. This stick is awesome. I found myself dictating play, finding the corners a lot easier than my pure aeros. Well done Artengo and tennis nerd for the review 👍🏼

I've been playing Tennis since 1975. I remember when Yonex hit the market with that Square Head. People either love it or hated it. It wasn't for me, but the price made alot of player convert. In the 80s, Pro Kennex came out with their brand. And people went Gaga over the Brand. People were saying, "These racket play like a Wilson stick, but half the price!!!!" And they flew off the shelves. Volkl rackets were the brain child of McEnroe and Becker. Who were frustrated with the lack of Players rackets not available on market. Artengo is another startup brand and time will tell.

Hi J, I found a used Ultra Tour and replaced the end cap with an XTP cap, making the racquet 27.5”. It adds power and swingweight while being very manageable to swing. I think these H19 style frames should have a 27.5” option.

There's one last L3 Grip size TR990 PRO available at Decathlon Hungary. I'll try to get it. Decathlon ships only inside each country and its quite difficult to find some stuff available in your country. For example, here in Greece most of their rackets are unavailable or available with L2 or L4 grips... That's very unfortunate. If I don't get that frame from Hungary, be my guest and buy it. It's just 50-60€ ole last L3 piece!!!

I have it strung with Wilson NXT on the mains at 52 lbs and Luxilon Alu Power Fluoro on the crosses at 50 lbs.

Nice review and good looking racket, specially considering the price. Waiting for a more spin friendly 16x19 version :) BTW, I've always wondered something. Ok, they make a racket lighter in order for you to customize it (with lead, leather, silicone, whatever). But, doesn't it play different than if the racket was already made with your needed specs? I mean, if the very frame structure/material has the weight and balance that you like, isn't that more solid than externally adding it? I mean if the frame itself it's heavier, it will be that frame which is absorbing the vibrations, plowing through the ball, etc. Whereas with a customized racket it would be the frame + externally added weight. So the question is, does a frame with the weight added externally play the same as a frame that is made heavier from the beginning, in its very structure?
@adrianboyddodd8007
@adrianboyddodd8007 2 года назад
It's better to make a racket that needs customisation because everyones needs are different. Some will want head light and othgers head heavy among other factors. So however you make the stock racket it is going to get altered by players anyway. Starting light is better because adding something if it's too light is easy. What are you going to do if the stock racket is too heavy ?

@sjjapp
@sjjapp 2 года назад
@@harryoliver4688 and type of racket? I'll just assume you're after a more control oriented stick as a platform with that kind of preference re weight and swing weight. The swing weight isn't really a problem as it doesn't actually require too much lead tape in hoop to give a super boost to swing weight if you place it high up, like at 12 or something, but with such a heavy static as well a lot of the weight is going to go in the handle I'd say and then probably lead around 3 and 9 or something to boost the static while reducing the impact on the SW compared to being placed higher up. You can use the tennis warehouse racket tool customiser to fill in specs of platform and then desired specs and it will give you some idea of how much weight to add where, if that's of interest. Might come down to how much you want in the handle. But with such a heavy desired spec, my guess is that you'd want to start with a heavier stock base racket to save you caking the frame with weight. It's a very demanding spec you're after there, especially if you meant unstrung 350 or so (and then paired with an equal swing weight, which people usually refer to strung). That's maybe something for you to question on your end unless you've really given it thought and say you're a tour pro or something and it's what brings out the best in your personal game. Even 350g strung is rather heavy and especially so with a 350/360 swing weight. If you knock off a average dampener, overgrip, and strings, that could mean around 326g unstrung.

I'm sure artengo just made their "improved or modified" copy of the ultra tour pro... its just a standards box beam ish racket like a prostaff or prestige heritage. the carbon layup is the only thing slightly unique to it but other than that its not so secret anymore.
