My sim racing journey starts here! After 10 years away from Gran Turismo, its time to step back in and step up, with my first PC sim rig. My game of choice? Asseto Corsa Competizione and the awesome community of Low Fuel Motorsport! But what was it like getting my licence and competing in my first rookie class races? Well, mistakes were made, and fun was had. And you need to watch the whole video to see all the action!
Please let me know in the comments how you think I did? I would love some honest feedback, as I still have so much to learn!
And if you want to see how the next races go? Then please subscribe for weekly race vids and track my progression though LFM and ACC.

It’s great to see the perspective of new drivers I started my LFM career about 5 months ago and I’m really enjoying it. One thing that I can say is that the driving standards are getting better and better the higher your safety rating gets especially after getting out of the rookie division. Thank you for being patient and being such a fair racer.

Lfm tip. While you are still in rookies, ignore track position and focus on sr. Rookie races are a nightmare. Set a goal to get your sr up as fast as possible. Little touches affect your sr. Track limits (even no time gained) affects your sr. People with low sr are psychos on track, (no matter the elo) get out of there so you can enjoy better racing.
@BradleySettersMotorsport
@BradleySettersMotorsport 16 часов назад
See I actually learnt this the other day that Rookie is completely ranked with SR and not ELO. I am full focus on SR now as I want out as soon as possible. Didn't know that all off tracks affected SR so badly as well. You really have to be super clean don't you! Thanks heaps for the tip.
@luizarthurbrito
@luizarthurbrito 14 часов назад
@@BradleySettersMotorsport you can open your laps after the race has finished on lfm and notice you get a 1x for every off track. There was a race I got negative sr even though I had zero touches with other people. A couple every race won't affect your sr much, bumping other people is way more relevant, but there you go
@jansmejkal8088
@jansmejkal8088 10 часов назад
@@BradleySettersMotorsport always read the rules! Offtrack gains 1x, a touch 4x. Under 3x you get SR boost (varies by SR standing). Clean race gives max 0.45 SR, normal is 0,18 SR per race without boost. Mostly ca 8x or 12x cancels SR boost. Get over 5 SR to get out of rookies after 10 races

@@jansmejkal8088 I should read the rules. I guess you get to understand the basics by watching others, but I need to go and work out all the little details in the rule book. SR is currently 4.12, so we are getting closer! Might start running around the back for a few to stay out of trouble.

@@BradleySettersMotorsport I’ve been grinding AC/ACC for a few months now. Getting used to the mechanics and cars. I’ve also been lurking on the LFM discord for a while now too. Maybe it’s time I get my license and race some people. 🤔

100% jump in and give it a crack! If you can get above that 80 safety rating in ACC then you are definitely ready to give LFM a go. I also found practicing in an LFM practice server was good for the confidence as well. I have been almost a second quicker in practice with other players, then just doing laps by myself.

Hey Bradley, welcome to the ACC. Very rare to see a rookie with this calm mindset. Usually people think they can get up to speed with some hidden Senna talent in them in 20 hours and end up destroying everybody’s race.

Your video inspired me to try for my license. I'm a total noob and I've been trying to get my lap times on the Hungaroring low enough to feel comfortable taking the test. I finally broke down and tried today and passed on my first try! Only by 0.16 seconds per lap but in this case, an inch is as good as a mile! Keep these vids coming, it's really cool to see a new racer for a change posting laps.

Hey man, nice video and great commentary. I recommend taking a look at your assists for your 296. I believe tc2 loses you a fair bit of time. Also ABS 1 is probably too low and will leave you locking up often. I recommend using and abusing these assists and slowly moving them down. Few setup videos will get you right! Great racing, shame to see it go down that way with the fuel. There is a ton of time to be found in strategy. Keep it up!
@BradleySettersMotorsport
@BradleySettersMotorsport 16 часов назад
Thanks you so much. In the last few races I have started to look much deeper at setups, and have certainly noted how TC2 does not feature in most setups for the 296. Really appreciate the feedback!

As a relative newbie to ACC I recently got my LFM licence at Hungaroring. You were much quicker than I was! I’m also using the 296. I have only done one LFM race since, I did find it a bit of a baptism of fire and a bit off putting, so I must man up and get back out there. I think you did very well in your first two races, and I’m looking forward to following your journey. Also very much like your video format. Good luck! 👍🏻

Top tip. Don't take the name too literally haha.

Nice video! The fuel thing happened to the best of us. For me is to do a checklist every time you get in the grid. Check fuel, tires, brakes and even if the race doesn't need to pit or change tires - always press the "use current pressure" button. From what I saw with your driving style, you'll get very fast and someday you probably will be with the top drivers. For now, keep getting new information on the track, car setups and the meta so you can focus on the race. And most important in the Rookie Series, focus mainly on gaining SR instead of position. Every track cut, even a "no time gain" will count as x1 incident point. Meanwhile every collision to another car, wall, and just a slight rubbed to the barrier will cost you x4 incident points.
@BradleySettersMotorsport
@BradleySettersMotorsport 16 часов назад
Thank you so much for the encouragement and the feedback. I have thought about a checklist, and will probably design something to hopefully share at some point. As there is so many little things to think about before and between sessions. I have only just been made aware of how small off tracks affect SR, and how ELO means nothing in Rookie. So I am all focus now to be clean and get out of Rookie ASAP! Lots to learn about setup, but everyone here has been so helpful to that. So thanks again!

Tire pressures were slightly too low and brake bias a bit too high + you kept braking too late for T1 and missing the apex. Other than that your driving was very nice for someone coming back from a long break :) The true challenge in these races is navigating all the chaos and carnage, since people often hunt position like rabid dogs but they don't have the car control or the racecraft to make the move done without colliding. A good thing to practice apart from the normal racing line is how to drive offline and where to brake in those situations, so you don't end up washing wide when making an overtake
@BradleySettersMotorsport
@BradleySettersMotorsport 15 часов назад
Thanks for the feedback! Im struggling to get the tyre pressures right for the different sessions. I know its near on 1 click per degree, but doesn't always translate well. So work to do there. Brake bias is untouched from aggressive preset and I'm quickly working out how wrong it is! I like your advise about practicing the offline braking points, so I will be certainly doing that from now on!

Are you going to eventually share your setups and how to tune in acc for beginners?
@BradleySettersMotorsport
@BradleySettersMotorsport 6 часов назад
As soon as I have a handle on it I will. This race is a ride height and rear wing change to the aggressive preset, so far from a comprehensive setup. And I have wanted to just focus on safe and consistent driving. I am now starting to test out some RU-vid setups from other players, and trying to work out what makes them work compared to the in game setups. So I will share that once I feel it can be helpful.
