Plot discrepancy; the way the narrator describes it, the ambassador had returned to the Resolute and not left when the first shots are fired. They have started the war with a hostage. Instead, the ambassador just sort of vanishes.

In this type of battle, you never let the enemy escape, you must capture or destroy the remaining ships and take no prisoners. Then return to the galactic councils center and glass it. The message will be clear, if you pick a fight and lose, you will lose everything.

The continued use of "Advanced Weaponry" and the word "Alien" isn't needed. Just adding words for Word Count wastes effort. The Audience gets introduced to the characters and doesn't need to be continually reminded.

Most are pretty good. This one, not so much. They said the secret mission was a success? Looked like a failure to me. They knew they were coming and the team didn't kill any leaders. They didn't sow chaos because the aliens knew they were coming. No alien leaders killed and a lot of his team was wiped out. Looks like a failure to me.

Considering just some of what presently exists for the use of Special Operations, a few scattered around when involved in an Operation Attacking an Enemy Control, would result in more than what occurred here in damage or response. Imagine a Basketball, or smaller sized weapon and Two or Three such attacks aimed at Communications, Control or Repair Facilities? The Enemy from that point would need to keep how many Troops to prevent a Repeat? A few Small Ships with Cloaking abilities running around behind enemy lines making sure to be seen, occasionally causing disruption so the enemy chases it's tails. Work Smarter not Harder.

The captain leaves the ship on close combat missions… especially during the heat of space battle where his ship is in dire straights… ummm… ya I reads well, but poorly researched.

Wait, the "failure is not and option" mission to Primus sowed chaos? You're kidding. The team was expected and was met with an overwhelming force, they retreated before any chaos could be sown. Ship's captains do not lead special ops missions, y'all need to get past the captain leaving his ship to join a skirmish. Poorly written story, throw some action in the mix and the skill isn't needed.

Try not using the word PAPABLE anymore. It is just a lazy fallback for every single SciFi writer. English is a big language, lots of words. Think then write.
