Jared your story of the inmate touched me. I was born in the covenant and quit going to church when i was about 18. By 24 I was getting ready to go to prison. When i went in, they told us "9 out of 10 of you guys are comin back. So pay attention to the rules." I decided i wasnt going back. I was so grateful for those men who accepted the callings of branch presidency at the Washington State Penitentiary. They came and led a service in the minimum security wing for inmates every wednesday. They led a service in medium security on tuesdays and ministered to others in maximum on sundays. Grateful for the onward, upward trajectory of the gospel in my life, and those willing to minister.

Every one of the episodes on this podcast are worthwhile to listen to and glean from. There has never been a bad one only very very good. I’ve been here from day one. It just keeps getting better and better. To all who make this happen….Thank you for being so inspired and inspiring. I’m sure there are people doing things we don’t even know are doing them. All for the study of Jesus Christ…to bring us all closer to Him…and yes He’s worth following. I love Him. ❤

I am so looking forward to your podcast every week! Thank you all so much for your time and your insight. The story of the prisoner touched me deeply, and I will pray for him, and all that want to find the truth! I am also so grateful that I am given time to better myself every day. Not sure if I do, but I try. I am also trying to be a good example to my husband and family. He was raised catholic and I was raised in this church, and for 62 great years I have tried to be a good example, which,,of course, many times I messed up. But I have faith, and hope, and I am trying my best. So, thank you for your lessson that give me hope!! ❤🇨🇦

Thank you all for your time, study and effort. I so appreciate it and just love listening to your podcast every week. I don't know how we managed before your podcasts. Everything has become clearer to me. Sometimes the scriptures are hard to understand and I never thought about the times they were written in and the struggles that Paul and the other apostles must have gone through, so thank you, thank you. The gospel is true and I know that the Lord loves each one of us and I also feel the pandemic was meant to happen so that important changes could be made!

Thank you Brother Ludlow for sharing that at times you get impatient with your wife. You scholars all seem so perfect to me; it’s nice to hear that you are mortal and still very faithful and inspired. I have about 10 notebooks with notes from these episodes as well as some other podcasts. I love reviewing the insights. Blessings on you all and your families!

The story of St. Augustine reminds me of an example in Elder Renland's April 2015 talk Latter-day Saints Keep on Trying: [The comedy As You Like It, written by the English playwright William Shakespeare, depicts a dramatic change in a character’s life. An older brother attempts to have his younger brother killed. Even knowing this, the younger brother saves his wicked brother from certain death. When the older brother learns of this undeserved compassion, he is totally and forever changed and has what he calls a “conversion.” Later several women approach the older brother and ask, “Was’t you that did so oft contrive to kill [your brother]?” The older brother answers, “’Twas I; but ’tis not I: I do not shame to tell you what I was, since my conversion so sweetly tastes, being the thing I am.”]

Wonderful discussions every week! I think Book of Mormon’s simple explanation is incredible: “By grace we are saved after all we can do.” 2 Nephi 25: 23. I think people are confused by the word “after.” There are a lot of definitions of “after all”. One is, “all things considered.” I think verse 23 is saying two things. Putting both things together, you could paraphrase it this way: No matter how much you do, it is grace that saves you, but you must do all you can. A beautiful verse like this is found in Ephesians 2:8-10.

The quote attributed to Elder Renlund about savoring a grape while eating a jalapeno pepper was actually shared by Richard G. Scott in the Oct 2009 general conference in his talk, "To Acquire Spiritual Guidance." I am always bothered when sources are cited incorrectly or not at all. Elder Renlund's talk has a footnote, but he didn't give credit to Elder Scott in his spoken talk. I wish they wouldn't do that for this very reason...people hear it, think it's clever, and give Elder Renlund the credit because many never read the footnotes. It only takes a second in a talk to say, "Elder Scott once said..." And I see/hear this happening more and more in general conferences. That being said, I love your podcast so much! This particular quote just jumped out because Elder Scott's talk was an answer to a very particular prayer at a very difficult time in my life. I just wanted to have his back. Thank you for this (and every) podcast. I walk five miles every morning (except Sundays) and this is what I listen to every day! It feeds my soul! Mondays are my favorite day because I can start a new episode (I don't allow myself to cheat and listen to one early, haha!)

What is the Law of Moses? Is it the 10 Commandments or the other minute and many laws of Do's and Dont's? We still need to keep the 10 Commandments, right?

The situation of the new church is very much like the church of the restoration!! All the different faiths converted to the church.. myself included. We all are tempted to say this is so different from the way I grew up. Also I have lived among native American saints who want to keep their cultural services. Seems a lot like the problems Paul faced.

Question: why all the confusion over circumcision? That was a law given to Abraham, before the Law of Moses. The Savior did away with the observances of the law ,so how did circumcision become part of the law?

FYI--HANK--Thirty-four minutes into Part II of Episode 40 (Galatians) you erroneously attributed to Elder Rendlund what in reality was a quote from Elder Richard G. Scott (October 2009 "To Acquire Spiritual Guidance") which reads, "The inspiring influence of the Holy Spirit can be overcome or masked by strong emotions, such as anger, hate, passion, fear, or pride. When such influences are present, it is like trying to savor the delicate flavor of a grape while eating a jalapeno pepper. Both flavors are present, but one completely overpowers the other. In like manner, strong emotions overcome the delicate promptings of the Holy Spirit."
