@@FlatWHDF really! I don't think the pro models are good value for money either. They charge 15k just for 128 gb of more storage. Besides, not everyone likes big screen machines in their pockets.
I like pixel phones but Google was wrong to bump the price up. The previous price point gave them an advantage for someone who was deciding between Google and Samsung.
Google are heads of apple in ai from what I can tell and with the custom chip coming out next year which is apparently going to be like Apples very powerful. I think they’re trying to categorise themselves as a premium brand like iPhone now.
@@jasonevans8914 But if most of the same AI features will be on the Galaxy phones then most people will go for the Samsung since they are more popular to most consumers
@@CallMeKJOSthe s24 is a piece of f****** garbage. the display is horrible. do a review on the Samsung s24 Ultra. Samsung s24 Ultra versus Google pixle 9 XL.
Thank you so much for reviewing the base Pixel 9. Nobody else is doing this. I got my Pixel 9 on the release date and so far am absolutely loving it. Didn't know how I would feal about the more boxy design but I have gotten used to it. Also the speakers are something nobody is talking about, which is a shame because I think they are very nice.
Yes, the speakers on the Pixel 9 Pro are fantastic too! Way better than my S21's. Unfortunately, there's no EQ settings on the Pixels. Funny thing, my S21 scrolls much smoother than the Pixel on apps like Reddit, FB, etc. That really surprised me. But the upcoming Android 15 update is supposed to improve that, we'll see. One huge benefit to the Samsungs is they're much lighter and less bulky. I always use cases, so having a light phone is important to me since a solid case adds weight/heft. I came to this video because I'm considering returning the Pixel Pro and getting an S24. I think I'm going to download the beta of 15 and see if that improves the performance a bit.
i don't like cases. they make the phone bigger.specially width wise. i'm in the minority though. i'm also the type of person who never drops my phone. and i mean never. I also became less concerned about it ever since the iphone 13 pro release which was a really strong phone and since then, I'm not concerned about any iphone breaking from a drop. I am concerned about the front screen scratching and the iphone 15 pro scratches wayyy too easily. That's something I don't like about the 15 pro.
4:10 dude is fast to point out that face unlock has an edge for the pixel but cannot tell the Samsung device has a better in-display sensor?... I don't like it when RU-vidrs have an inclination to a device but try to hide it and pose as neutral meanwhile such inclinations can be seen and felt in the reviews Dude is a pixel guy no doubt about that so just take his takes in tandem with your own interests...
I'll never buy a Pixel phone so long as they have the garbage performing Tensor chips. It's an immediate deal breaker, no matter how good the phone is outside of that.
The S24 is very comfortable. The edges are not sharp at all, and the light 168-gram weight makes it easy to handle. I chose it because it's the lightest flagship with a telephoto lens.
I'm planning to trade in my S24 and pre-order the Pixel 9 Pro. It's a pricey phone, but I can get £330 for my S24 and a £200 pre-order bonus. I'm looking forward to the clean software experience of the Pixel 9 Pro and not having to deal with Samsung's UI bloatware.
I switched to the Pixel 9 Pro XL last week and it is stuttering when I scroll. RU-vid app has been stuttering too when watching videos at 1.5x playback speed. Even as I type this comment, I can see the phone stuttering. I'm switching to the S24+ tomorrow.

That tensor G4 will probably struggle a few years down the road, but if you change phones all the time, that is not a concern.
I honestly don't understand why they always do matt and then glossy design, why not everything matt, they know that most customers want something like that because of fingerprints
S24+ & Pixel 7 owner, long story how I ended up with both😂 Have been contemplating the Pixel 9, but my Pixel 7 is going great as a secondary device. May upgrade if sales happen. Great review and comparison.😊
@@abdul-jaleeldieng2660 Truthfully, Samsung. I can customize until I'm content. Great Samsung apps and enjoy the ecosystem with my Tab S9, and Galaxy Book
Going to give you a well deserved 'like' for realizing that not everyone cares just about the Ultra and Pros. Some of us prefer a more compact option. Well done.
The claim that the Pixel 9 series is better than the iPhone or Samsung is misleading. As long as the Pixel relies on the rebranded Samsung Exynos chip, marketed as the Tensor, its performance will remain at mid-range or even budget levels. No matter how good the hardware is, it won’t make a difference with a subpar processor.
The processor in the Pixel 9 is more than adequate. Sure it doesn't benchmark as high as the Snapdragon but real-world use is quick, snappy and efficient.
How is it a rebranded exynos processor? It have the same cores as any other chip out here that powers most android phones, just different core layouts. Just because samsung fabbed the chip doesn't mean it's a rebranded chip. Samsung use to fab apples chips as well but nobody claimed it was exynos so stop it with the "rebranded " crap all because google chose to use samsungs ip to build a chip of their own. Different gpu, custom built tpu, titan m security chip and also their own isp nothing says "rebranded" exynos go do your homework and stop listening to tech reviewers who have no expertise in building socs
Having handled both phones in store I would take the Pixel 9 without doubt. Much better cameras, brighter screen, bigger screen (not too big , not too small) , great build quality and better software. I use an s21fe and it gets the job done but there are aspects to Samsung software that are infuriating on a daily basis. Seriously considering upgrading.
Don’t go for iPhone , I thought iPhone 14 was better than my s21 fe so I bought it , then 1 hr game in base settings took 20-30% , 30 mins video call on google meet made this heat up more than the Samsung
Thank you for the comparison between the small phones. I've ordered the Pixel 9 pro and still waiting for the shipping, and my wife has the Galaxy S24. I'm curious how they compare day to day.
And..if I'm not mistaken. Don't Sony make Camera sensors etc for majority of phones? I'd love to be able to afford one myself.( The One, 6) I think it is.
Great video! Good to see a channel that does videos on the smaller base models. It's crazy some only do the Pro XL or s24 Ultra and not everyone can spend $1100 or more on a phone. Me personally i prefer the Pixel 9 for the design and smooth stock android performance. Never been a fan of the heavy Samsung skin.
Glad to have gone with the Galaxy S24, upgrading from a Galaxy S10+ and a broken Google Pixel 6! Efficiency and reliability as well as customizability are my deciding factors! If my S10+ has lasted me 5 years and has gone over a year past its last security update (and it still works up to today and charges well), then for sure my S24 will last me 7 years!
As long as it has a case I dropped two different s10+ 's the first week I had them and had different results I liked it though and the pixel 6 is garbage comparatively,I have one now it's reliable but the display is a 2 compared to the solid 8 on the s10+ , it was new when I got but it felt like a huge downgrade , I would also compare the pixel 6 to any trac phone with a touch screen but faster
Meh, if you remove AI from pixel it will be a trash phone even it's camera which is also AI carrying it's quality. And AI is software, so as long as you have enough RAM any device can do Pixel AI. Barely an upgrade from Pixel 8, the difference between 8 and 9 is only AI software which is Google not putting in older device like what Apple is trying to do. Worst upgrade even if u compare it to Apple, I don't own Samsung phone but I own Pixel. And in my biased opinion from a pixel owner, Pixel 9 is trash. Just a money grab attempt.
It’s a pain to do it….but moving to Android from iOS, I purchased a Pixel and a refurbished Samsung…same phones you tried. It took me only a few days to send back the Samsung. I hate the way they build on top of Google apps. The weight was WAY too heavy for a phone too. I agree with that! It was painful to return phone and case to Samsung. And the protective glass was wasted $30 USD. But, I now KNOW which phone is the best for me! Your videos are well done. Thanks for all the efforts. Good luck.
Yo display on the Galaxy S24 series this year is untouchable. The anti reflective coating doesn't get the respect it deserves. Guys put any high end phone display released this year next to the S24 outside and it will eat them for breakfast, launch and dinner lol. The difference is very very noticeable, atleast I the 15PM and S24U so I know for sure
@@jtec99 Oooh I thought they all have the same display as the S24U since it wasn't mentioned that its only the S24U the uses the Anti reflective glass. Sorry to the regular S24 users 😂
The glossy finish on the Pixel 9 is an advantage in my book; I have bought and returned the S24 because the matt finish on the glass back made it ridiculously slippery in my hand (I don't like to use cases on my phones). I can live with the more visible fingerprints on a glossy finish, which is better than having the phone fly out off my hand which I felt was going to happen every time I took the S24 out of my pocket. Every phone I've owned has had a glossy finish and I'm sticking with that going forward, so despite the fact prefer the S24 (mainly because of the zoom lens), I'd pick he Pixel 9 just because it has that glossy finish.
It's funny that anyone can say the pixel is better the chip shit Samsung s23 ultra is even better than the pixel 9 pro xl so it don't stand a chance up against the s24 ultra like it's a good phone but it's never going to be as good a Samsung and apple
@@rossallen738 The pixel 9 is an awesome phone. I love it so far and don't regret buying it. The camera is great and the AI stuff is cool too. Definitely a big upgrade from the Galaxy S10 e.
@@rossallen738 I love my Pixel 9 so far. The camera is great and the AI stuff is pretty cool too. Definitely a big upgrade from the Galaxy S10 e. I'm sure you are going to like it.
Every time I see this standard Pixel 9, I can't get it out of my head that it's just a Pixel 8 Pro in a new chassis and a compact size, but mostly without the 5X zoom sensor and without the Pro Camera 📸 features 🤔 And as much as I can't justify the iPhone 15 with its 60 hertz screen in 2024, I can't justify this Pixel 9 at its price with its processor at the level of processors dating back 3 years (8 Gen 1 / 8+ Gen 1 / A14) . And for me, S23 / S23 Plus are currently a much better deals than both smartphones I mentioned above. 🙏🏽
Amazing reviews. Hope to have one of these one day. About the Google Pixel 9,it looks like an iPhone tho but it's cool. Companies are stepping up their game
I have a samsung s23 ultra and i'll say that I do love samsung products, but I don't like that I have to get the Ultra to get a spec'd out phone. Its too big and believe it or not it hurts my fingers after a while because of it's size. other then that though I can't imagine that the camera could be much better. Multi tasking is rediculously easy and the display on Samsung is the best on the market. Using the S Pen for selfies is extremely underrated too. Both my parents have iphones and the colors just don't pop like they do on my phone samsung. Really would like a high performing phone without it being so big though. I think if so many people didnt have such bad experiences with androids before, they would like them better then Iphones. They can do everything an Iphone can and more. So much smoother now too. I don't ever have anything buggy happening with my phone. I used to with instagram videos but thankfully that has ended though. Overall satisfied with the phone. Just not worth getting arthritis for it. lol
you say, this two are thebest phones on the market ....................really?? google pixel 9 is the same hardware from the pixel 8. same exynos core same outdated weak GPU from low budget phones again. same camera sensors. overall they rebrand the pixel 8 and call it now pixel 9, pixel 9 delivers 100% a performance what you find in alot 400$ phones. if the best phone on a market is a phone that delivers ~900.000 Atuntu points what is typical performance of low budget class hardware. that is one of the best, ROFL but the S24 really offers near the best possible hardware in a phone. your compare is a flagship hardware vs outdated cheap junk hardware. and saying, you see no different both smooth scroll window....., any junk phones is that to. thats not any task that uses performance. your compare of a ferarri vs a honda civic is pointless. and yes with both you can drive..... but this two cars on totally different levels whats inside.
I would have to say the s24 as I don't notic it due to the weight and size. I also love Android because of customization however it's very difficult to customize the pixel ironically do to the locked home screen layout. In the had the pixel is great and I love the screen and the speakers, so it's a hard choice that's for sure.
Overall, no one will buy a Pixel to take pictures and an S24 to take video. There is very little difference between them for any reviewer to give specifics on other than one is set up to run in the Google infrastructure only vs the other which lives in both the Samsung AND Google infrastructure. It all depends on price point really and Google did increase the price of the Pixel since Samsung did not realizing that Samsung did not sell enough S24 and Z series phones due to the inflated price they're asking and poor trade-in values. This means that Google Pixel sales will indeed suffer as well.
I have been waiting for the pixel 9 pro for over a few months but it's way over priced. 516gb variant here in au is costing over $2000 whilst I am getting Samsung S24 (on offer) at just under $1400 for same variant
I already knew the Pixel 9 benchmarks are unacceptable but I got my hands on both s24 ultra and pixel 9 pro today in store. Both were on t mobile 5 g with no WiFi. The pixel was like 130 down and 3 up. Samsung was almost 400 down and over 100 up. I downloaded t care how much ai it has. There is no way they can justify the hardware and network numbers they are putting out.
It all comes down to the company. Samsung. People think getting anything else is low class. Most Samsung users are equal to Iphone users. Most could care less about specs. They just want the BRAND name. Flash pizazz. Its a look now. Just like the Iphone. Ive had most phones including the FE that offered the last sd card slot!! I just got the pixel 9 pro. Its awesome. I guess im just not as classy anymore now that i don't have a Samsung.
Point and shoot pictures of any Pixels are ALWAYS superior to Samsung and i have owned Samsung Notes, S6 to S22. Stock.Android is also better experience for me. Clean, simple and fast.
I currently use the pixel 8 pro. I would take the s24 over the pixel 9. I prefer the colors that the s24 is available in. The smaller bezels and frosted back over the pixel 9. However I would take the pixel 9pro over the s24
That camera module is irritating, I just want to snap it off because it looks so out of place! Couldn't they smoothed out those razor-sharp edges! You literally can hang the phone from that camera bump😅
I use the s23. Which is the s24 basically. They didn't upgrade anything. I use, both apple and android. Apple works more consistently with apps and basic functions. The Samsung has better camera but the iphone still takes better video.
S24 for me. Has the better LTPO display, telephoto lens and the faster 4.0 storage available on the 256gb version. The comparison should be with the pro version, not the base pixel 9.
