Just followed this video to do this on my S3. Worked great! Bought the LOCA from your Ebay store, and used the specified 1.3ml. The only problem i had was that when i was putting the glass on, i started pushing the glass on from the bottom first, and some of the LOCA got into the front facing camera, and now it's blurry. So next time, and for all of you others doing this, once you lower the glass onto the screen, start pushing downwards from the top first. Other than that - Thanks heaps!!
I can't believe I've watched this video 4 times and just noticed he switched phones. The first one was At&t and the last one was T-Mobile. For anyone who wants to try this. If you are using LOCA. Take apart the phone and remove the motherboard. Apply LOCA and cure with UV light for about 5-8 mins. Clean any excess LOCA off the sides and whatever LOCA that seeped to the back and/or in the camera lens, proximity sensores and buttons. Reattach the motherboard and all other parts. It seems as if the LOCA he applied in the first AT&T variant S3 damaged some resistors since he didn't take everything out. So he switch phones hoping no one would notice.
How come you switched switched phones at 6:50? That is unless the adhesive remover turned the home button white. And if that's the case, did the adhesive remover also turn it from an at&t phone to t-mobile? I'm confused. Please advise.
The melting temperature of our Octopus Glue is almost same to the original phone manufacturer's OCA. There should not be any significant difference in removing the glue. You are right that hardness and viscosity are key factors to determine how easy to rework and how easy to remove air bubbles.
Great video octopusglue. Do you have a step by step guide? Does the screen need to be at a certain temperature? Also, do I need to use the flashlight like you did? What was the purpose of doing that. I cracked my s4 screen and am looking for a good way to replace it. Thanks for the great work. Also, where did you get the 3m tape jig?
I can confirm this works i use oca loca + uv nail dryer I dont use bot heatgun nor 3m double sided tape tho. Just my gf hair dryer and two debit cards. Try not to cut the tiuch screen buttons. Havent had any problems so far. I'll post a video too when i rrplace it again
i bought some of this glue from ebay yesterday. not sure if it will come with instructions but the video seems to explain everything fine except i would like to know how much glue you would use with one application? i bought a 3ml syringe
After following your tutorial the screen works great thanks! But the speaker, ear piece, both mics and the front camera no longer work. Any advice what I may have done? All connections have been reconnected, I am afraid the loca glue got somewhere. But I feel it is a junction point as all those parts did not get glue on them. Any ideas?
Hi , i wanted to tell you that i thank you so much for that tutorial, because it really helped me to change my S3 glass, and now my s3 is just like a new phone, Thank you man!
Are you sure the target phone used our Octopus Glue before? We have local demo classes every week, and repeat gluing, curing, separating, cleaning process several times on the same screen assembly without any issue.
I don't get it.....brfore you took the phone apart, it had black interior 0:50 and the welcome screen is AT&T 6:32 . But after you change the screen, it became a S3 with white interior 16:35 and the welcome screen is T-Mobile 16:48 .....Obviously that's two different phones, when and why did you change to a different phone???
Continued: I purchased two screens some time ago and needed to changed the color for a customer. I heated it to around the usual temps like 180degrees and it was not budging so i tried to go to 200 and so forth. I gave up on it as i did not want to damage the screen. Ive read in descriptions that loca creates a stronger bond that the manufacturers, now i know this is a good thing but what about when I need to rework it? Is it a damned if u do damned if u dont kinda deal? Thanks in advance! :)
After using this liquid glue, if my glass broken again, is easy to replacement the glass screen again? Or this glue is stronger and if i will replacement the glass screen could be broken LCD?
octopusglue mate, I did the way u taught, but is coming off a little glue the corners, and the button underneath. how do i stop this? already tried everything and not to leave little glue
Hey, great tutorial guys. really helpful for me as i have 2 cracked screens i need to fix. Whats the solution you use to cleanour the remaining glue ? should i just use some diluted glass cleaner? it should have the same effect.
Its highly recommended you use a 97% or higher isopropyl alcohol or denatured alcohol. I use that for finish cleaning. I use Octopus Glue Adhesive Remover for the initial cleaning once the glass/lcd has been separated.
At first when you were working on the phone it was AT&T, but at the end it was T-mobile? When did you switch the phones? Also why did you have the video on 2x speed play?
oh no it was just a question in general.... was using it as an example... they mustve used something with a very high hardness level... too high that i believe reworking it would crack the lcd....again its why i chose ur glue for viscosity and ur 25a hardness level :)
Some time ago I have removed glass from my S3 and were using it without glass. Now it have some scratches on display. What will happen if I put there some LOCA glue and new glass? Will scratches disappear?
Don't try to change the screen glass of your phone unless you have 4-5 phones to switch between them like this "tech-pro" did. "customer: Hi! I need to replace the broken screen glass of my phone. octopusglue"tech": Ok! No problem. Did you brought the other 3 phones?"
mate, I did the way u taught, but is coming off a little glue the corners, and the button underneath. how do i stop this? already tried everything and not to leave little glue
LOL example of an amateur repair technician Right Here! The LCD has to be removed from the frame and put in to a mold. With this repair setup the Glass will pull away from the LCD. This phone is going to smell like a damn nail salon and will be leaking loco glue for ages.
***** Hi, I can remove the LCD from the frame, as can other technicians. It takes me about 20 mins cause I'm super careful, but I've seen others on RU-vid do it in 5 min. There's one guy who does it in 2 minutes, not sure if original adhesive. You can buy oem LCD adhesive too.
Its still not worth it. The adhesive on the rear of the Active Matrix OLED display is designed to adhere the display to the body, but the adhesive mat in the middle reacts as an heat sink for the SoC ARM micro-processor where its heat is conducted with an thermal pad. By removing the display, the heat dissipation feature no longer works and this can cause thermal stress on the circuit board causing BGA connections to crack and that requires an high skilled solder job. Also, the mid adhesive bad is here to precent the screen from cracking from thermal stresses, keep in mind that an Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode display (AMOLED) has 2 layers of glass (vertical matrix and horizontal matrix) a polarization layer to filter out unnecessary wavelengths and a light reflector for not losing light and since a OLED screen is officially transparent, there must be an shielding of some kind to prevent it to look transparent because you don't wanna see the frame cut outs ect.
ok first thing i notice is ,the first phone it tmobile, and then the last phone is at&t,wired taught he was fixing same phone, but then hold up,the first phone he started with is a blue samsung s3 with a blue home button and then the last phone he repair has a white home button ,with a blue screen ,i would b mad as hell to send my phone away to fix ,and they return my phone with blue screen and a white home button wow
Merci. Beaucoup. Je suis tres contente. De mon travail ma premiere experience dans ce domaine. A 78 ans il n,est jamais trop tard pour faire des esperiences.
good catch, but in terms of the tutorial itself its irrelevant. They obviously repair so many phones and this is just how the tut was recorded. there isn't any deviation from the process you see.
You have to use an UV lamp. I just picked up a 36w one from ebay for less than $20! You "can" do it without the LOCA but the sensitivity is not as good and it can get dust inside.
I tried this to save on a £50 excess on the insurance. Somehow I ended up damaging the actual screen underneath when I finally removed the glass. It's not clear from this video what you need to avoid and be careful of when doing this. It needs a voice over with a more descriptive process. So now I guess it's an insurance claim...
WD40.. I use this every time and works fine.. over 30 phones fixed via trusted old WD40 stops rust, contact cleaner lol.. also S3 Spent Loca Glue Remover
I am from India,I could not find any dealer who can replace my S3 screen so I did myself. Now the problem is the touch is not working as expected,So I have to do it again with the glue as you demonstrated. The only Question I have is, do we have any alternative source of UV light and from where I can get ? Thanks
doesn't the loca glue get into the back light at all? I haven't tried using loca glue yet with the galaxy but when i attempted the iphone glass repair the loca glue got in between the back light and lcd and i don't want to do repairs with the loca if it is going to get in between the back light and lcd. how do you prevent that?
The iPhone has an LCD display, which stands for Liquid Crystal Display. An iPhone needs backlit to lid up those pixels and the polarization layer filters out the unnecessary wavelengths. Most Samsung Galaxy phones including the s3 uses Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode screens. It stands for AMOLED or Active Matrix OLED. Each sub-pixel in an (AM) OLED display emits its own light. There is no need for an backlight at all. LOCA can't get in between anything on the AMOLED display except its circuitry, but this is unlikely when performed the right way. So no, LOCA can't get in between it since This phone uses an LED sub-pixel based display.
i orderd a glass/screen replacemint for my galaxy tab 3 well i got it today the only thang is when i put the new one on do i glue it or how does it stay on? please give me some insite on this thank you
Is it possible to remove the whole lcd screen without damaging it? I have the lcd separating hot plate to get the glass off but in all the videos ive watched the screen gets destroyed when it is taken out of the phone.
You can search 8333 glue remove liquid. If you have a lot of repairs, you can use fully automatic glue remove machine which is quick and do no harm to polarizer and touch screen. For more information, welcome to contact Amy. Whatsapp: +86 13682503305.
+dahbestgamer because you cant just take off the old glass and drop on a new one. It doesnt work like that. You need to take it apart to get to the AMOLED/LCD that doesnt come out on its own
hey i need to change my frame,.. my screen & glass is good but side frame (which has volume, charger & power buttons) is damaged... I have ordered the faceplate frame & want to change it.. could you suggest me on this please... Thanks in Advacne
abraham magnifico .i have samsung galaxy s3 and i replace my screen and i did it .i use that 8333 glue remover liquid.. in this video after he use glue remover liquid and he put some glue for what? i don't get it..and did u noticed that phone home button is white colour how come black phone with white button..lol u should watch again this video u will know the true..
after watching so many videos and learning ,i know what are those ,the glue is called LOCA glue ,it's a glue that fix the screen with the glass and it dry only with ultra violet lights .
If it isOctopus Glue, use these amount. These are less than half of amount comparing to other loca glues. iphone 4: 0.5ml iphone 5: 0.7ml Galaxy S: 0.8ml Galaxy S2: 1ml Galaxy S3: 1.3ml Galaxy S4: 1.4ml Galaxy Note 1, 2: 1.7ml
