This video shows you everything you need to know about fixing your cracked Samsung Galaxy S5 Camera Lens. It is a VERY easy repair that can be accomplished by anyone. All you need are a few simple tools and the camera lens replacement kit.

WOW, Jerry I just can't tell you how much I appreciate this do-it-yourself video. I had just gotten my S5 a few days prior to dropping it, and because the lends protrudes out from the phone casing, it easily shattered. It's pretty stupid that they make the lens protector out of glass, it should be poly carbonate or something more stable! I was really upset because I had just gotten the phone. I had 2 choices, pay a $150 deductible for a brand new phone (and that includes setting everything up again, downloading everything again and it already took me almost 4 days to finally get through all of that "new phone" chaos), or bring it in to a repair shop only to pay about the same amount or more for a simple repair. I can't believe they wanted to charge me $150 for "parts and labor" as they said, when the kit was $8 and the labor took about 10 minutes. Thieves!!! I followed the links you gave to purchase the replacement on Amazon, received it a few days later and easily installed it myself while watching your video. I've never done any kind of repair on a cell phone myself so this was very easy to do for a rookie. Thank you so much for this, you saved me a lot of money and a lot of time. One thing I'll add, when I opened the package, the actual lens cover didn't have a plastic film to remove, so I'm guessing every shipment from Amazon isn't the same. This was super easier than what I thought, I just replaced my lens and the best part was it took me 5 minutes and the whole kit only cost me 6 bucks!! So glad I did it myself instead of spending a lot more money with Verizon. Thank you for your help!!!

I just stumbled upon this video on my samsung galaxy s5 because i only have a one cracked glass cover over the camera on my phone. Now i can see how easy it can be fixed wow! I only thought you would have to take out the whole camera by pulling the phone apart so thanks for showing how easy it can be fixed. Thanks for posting this video as I'm still using my samsung galaxy s5 in 2024 which is still a good phone to use as a second phone for calling, texting, emails, internet browsing, for watching youtube etc

Great video JRE! Adding a tip to address the focus issue. I removed the broken glass and then checked the camera before installing the new glass. The camera didn't focus and I had to tap the phone on my wooden workbench to release some glass shards from the focusing mechanism. Just make sure the camera opening is facing down. Keep doing this until the glass stops coming out.

Thanks for the link you provided from Amazon. Excellent video and the key element from my perspective was cleaning out the old glass and accumulated "grime" to make sure the rest of the parts fit perfectly. I cleaned the camera lens and area with Carl Zeiss lens wipes (we use them all the time here in our photography firm) and a gentle shot of air from our bench compressor. Again, well done!

Besides replacing the cover lenses, I am sure the lenses in my Samsung S5 require cleaning as well. Any advices on how to do that cleaning correctly?

I also used Q-TIP to clean the inside lens because it was dirty from it being cracked for so long! Now the camera focuses like brand new!

I saw some bad reviews on the part suggested in the link. Of the one-star reviews, a few were not the fault of the manufacturer, a few were because parts were missing or broken when received, etc. Most were because people couldn't focus after proper installation. I ordered it and will try anyway. Wish me luck!

I've now attempted this twice. First the image was slightly blurry. So I ordered another lense cover and now the images are foggy with a white cast. I do like you video, it is helpful.

UAV Jockey FPV Are you making sure not to touch the glass/plastic lens during the instal? The oil from your fingers can cause the lens to not focus.

UAVFPV Dreams of Cory D Mine was blurry also! The camera should be able to focus without the lens installed. This is how I fixed mine. Clean lens gently with microfiber towel and rubbing alcohol. Once alcohol is dry, clean lens with dry microfiber to make sure there is no residue. Camera should be able to focus now. If you accidentally get finger oils on the new protective glass lens, you can clean it with the same method.

too perfect, THANK YOU for sharing this video. :) i had to fix the camera lens cover and USB port cover. no problems. you did a GREAT job explaining how to fix them. and saved a $140.00. but do you know how to turn the camera back to factory settings? WITHOUT resetting the whole phone. a child got a hold of it and really messed up.

Thanks so much, what an awesome video. I'm based in South Africa and I've been told all sorts of rubbish from need to replace entire camera to "we can do it, but there is a 50% chance that the entire screen will break, in which case it will be $300". Sometimes the adhesive for the protective lens glass comes on a separate piece of paper (with a hole inside) and needs to be applied on the bottom of the glass before use (like a sticker, then remove the top paper).

Thanks so much for this. It is very helpful and clear, though I feel like there's a crucial missing component: at 1:01 you skip right to the adhesive being stuck to the lens cover. Since this product comes with no instructions, I (and, I see on the Amazon page, many others) messed it up and had sticky adhesive on the lens cover itself. It would be incredibly helpful if you could show that part.

You can try cleaning out the inside of the lens, but you'll probably need new adhesive after you pull it off.

Perfect. I fallowed the video. Now i can take pictures again.. so i think version said i would have to ship the phone out and would not have it back for 2 weeks and it would cost $70. well ebay offered a lens for 5.99 and free shipping.
