Galaxy Z Fold 6: Initial Review & Issues

Hey, just got my unit last week and I am loving it. Had none of the quality issues you described. I have been a Fold user since the 2nd generation and only cheated once with the Oneplus Open. Glad to be back to Samsung. It is just so much more polished than competition. I think they got the form factor exactly right. It is not intended to have a wide outer screen,because the ergonomics will suffer from that. Outside is more for one handed use and checking things quickly, if you need to do more you open it up. Colours are definitely less saturated, fully agree. Battery life better for sure as well. Only real complaint I still have is the Ultra slow charging speed. Don't understand why they haven't changed that. Cameras, I don't care, good enough for your ever so often snap shot.

First review to tell the truth about the loose power button, you just got a new subscriber from me for that. Samsung stop letting manufacturers use back cheap parts.

You do know that you can return it if the phone has any issues with it and get a new one, and that will solve your problem. Hopefully.

Would fold 6 be your new daily or would you stick to the ultra? Wonder how useful the large inner screen is and whether the foldable form factor changes some user (often unconscious) behavior.

That google Maps issue happens on my fold 3 alll the time! It's so frustrating. Picking up the 6 today, hopefully. What theme is that on your phone?

I have the white one, ive had the 3,4,5 and now 6 and the 6 is definitely the most refined version. Overall im happy with it and am not having any Quality issues. I do agree the cameras leave something to be desired but thats why i also have an ultra device each year to go back to when i need the best cameras. Small correction though, they did change the ultrawide sensor on the 6 even though it doesn't seem much better lol

You want a foldable as your daily driver but also a phone that has a camera good enough to be your daily driver. Did you try the OnePlus Open?

Jumping from the fold 3 to the fold 6, it was a huge improvement. I love how light weight the 6 is vs the 3 and it is an underrated upgrade. I've had no issues with my device to date. Also, I don't think the camera bump on the back is a real issue as it would be unlikely to be used flat on a table. Personally, I don't care about the cameras. It's decent enough, and people should get a real camera instead of driving phone prices through the roof because they demand handheld DSLR quality. My biggest disappointment is the lack of a built in Spen that they could do 15 years ago but somehow can't do on this phone? Also the charging speeds are far too slow and I don't buy that that Is to protect battery life. It is probably because of the inferior batteries and quality Samsung uses. All my old Samsung devices have bulging batteries and many youtubes have made videos on the issue. All in all this is an amazing phone and I recommend it. Time will tell if there will be issues with my device like my fold 3 not opening completely after a while. PS: One other annoying thing is trying to buy an S pen for this device as almost no stores globally carry it and it's difficult to order online.

Couple months update here, but unfortunately I have all of the same issues you do with your fold 6. Google maps acting wierd, power button very loose, and phone not opening flat all the way.

thanks for reviewing and pointing out the issue. noticed my power button is a bit loose as well and my fingerprint not working as good but I still have to use it more maybe have to register it again but I think it might be due to the loose power button

What happened to all the stuff on the top shelf? Are you redesigning the space? 👀

Send that phone back and get a replacement. The price of these phones they should be flawless out of the box.

The loose power button is normal. My Fold 4 had the same issue.

Majority of RU-vidrs and media when it comes to Apple 🍏: "Wow 😮 , the iPhone 13 Mini is the smartphone I've always dreamed of 😍 🤗, easy to use and tap with one hand 🤩🥰 👌🏽" The same youtubers and media when it comes to Samsung: "The Fold 6 is too narrow 😒😬, it's nonsense from Samsung😡😤🤬" And yet, the external screen of the Fold 6 is much wider than that of the iPhone 13 Mini, it is even only slightly less wide than that of the iPhones X/11 Pro by 2-3mm 🤷🏽‍♂️ For some, the external display of the Fold 6 is perfect, but, it's true that (in my opinion) Samsung should have added those 3mm to make its external display perfect for everyone. A Galaxy Fold with an external screen 3mm wider than the Fold 6 and with the same height as an S24 Ultra would be perfect, both for the ease of use of the external screen, and for the ratio of the internal screen which will be more rectangular than square. But it would have to be a maximum thickness of 9-10mm like its Chinese competitors, a battery 🔋 of at least 5000mAh, but above all new bigger main photo sensors, especially (and at least) a 64mp 3X zoom like the OnePlus Open/12. 🙏🏽

Why wouldn't I want to upgrade from a Fold4 or any other non-folding device? You gotta be more clear with your recommendation. This phone isn't marketed to Fold4 users.

Quick observations 1. Touch Sensitivity on front screen with tamper proof screen (built in case) is poor even if you toggle the sensitivity sensitivity. 2. At the start, front screen didn't turn ON until I peeled off the screen film it came with from factory.i don't recall that with Fold 6. 3. Samsung will NOT do a replacement. They want you to order new one (do not guarantee same price) and return old one to get refund. Stinks.they will NOT send replacement device...this is BAD...

Great review , pathetic again from Samsung . I sold my fold 5 and was about to get the fold 6 but then saw the open . Omg open is so good and cheaper . Thankfully love that I didn't get the fold 6 . Love the open
