2 dresser couplings and a piece of pipe would have done a lot better I would think but the clamp still turned out well. Good job cb1. Keep the vids coming

I was ready with the dresslers. We got super lucky with just the one block cut out. On the boarder line of cutting out another block and cutting out the line. I never planned on clamp at all. Surprise Surprise it worked well especially with timing.

Ya...In 1985ish original builder piped all mains through at side walk height into each store. Instead of coming in front store and running over head. Total nightmare but a nice winter job to come some day. I was prepped for some sort of copper main. I was surprised at the 2" galv main.

I really wouldnt want to miss a video of you on the field but I would really love/appreciate a video where you talk to us young guys about running a business and being a subcontractor. Thanks for the birds eye view of what you do for some reason everytime I'm on a jobsite and I see a plumber soldering I get a mini hardon or something its mega fascinating maybe Im a born plumber and just dont know it.

see the part when a "boss" showed up driving a truck with material? the day you get lazy and no longer go out in the "trenches" working, is the day the company starts to decline. not saying you have to be on every single job nor hustling like a rabid dog ;)

Ya know, I have that same "Gay little" pump on my truck as a back up. Yea she's small, but it's bailed me out numerous times. Also..I envy you for that nice sandy soil, come over to Pa. and feel some real pain with our hard compacted clay soil...lol. NIce job Chuck.

You are lucky that clamp worked ! I bet you you will be back for another leak repair in few months. That pipe just didn't look good at all.

You got that right! This is such a unique pipe job coming. This main picks up 6-8 stores and slab is raised 5' above street. All stores tapped of galv main. She still holding though

i need to cut into a galvanized yard line to add a gate valve per the water company. oh boy that pipe is looking gnarly, i hope i can clean it enough to use those compression fittings, cause i aint got no time to tench up the whole yard to replace no dang water supply! quick repair, hopefully!

used galv dressler couplings and clean pipe with a grinder nicey nice if real bad. I will send ya link.

All that work digging! Why didn't they just go the extra mile and replace everything? In that town is it the cities/town's responsibility up to the property?

Special situation here George, The stores needed water asap. Including a restaurant and bar. In this area owners are responsible from curb in. The situation here is when the entire main is replaced the entire strip gonna need to be repiped over head. All water in slab from original builder. Good eye plumber. Im not big on repairs either but here was a must for now.

So, Chuck, how long do you think that clamp will last underground? I put one of those clamps above my kitchen galvainized pipe about three months ago, but I know they're temporary. If it gives me a year or two before it starts leaking again, I'll be happy with that.

What chunky doesn’t tell you is how they use the propane torch so the clamp conforms to the outside of the pipe

How do I convert a broken non threaded galvanized water main pipe to PEX? I am on a job site for a friend of mine and I wanna help him out but I cant seem to find any solution to this problem! Please help? Oh btw the galvanized pipe is in the ground, it's a water main to a residential structure. 3/4" galvanized to 3/4 PEX @ the location of the broken galvanized pipe location is what I am trying to accomplish!

ya know I had a dripper on first try because of scale that I could not scrape off bottom. Then I took clamp off and cleaned more and this time the scale came loose I suppose from me cranking on clamp. The second time around I had a great clean surface with not a drip. So lucky. I thought It was a freeze up but if it froze I think the seem would crack instead of a pencil hole. super lucky on this one.

Yea for sure got lucky 🍀 gotta love those lucky plumbing calls... that one could have been a nightmare... I used to service this hotel with all old galvinized water lines. You service something something else down the line starts leaking..

I just bought one of the same junk "gay" pumps the other day, needed to empty a washing machine with bad pump out. it worked, but my ears bled the whole time.

lol, I don't think they'll handle dirty water too good and probably only has about 1" O.D. rubber impeller and they sure don't move much water!

Lol. Wait. You don't own a wet concrete saw? And you're using clamps vs using couplings & replacing the pipe so you can come back in 6 months & charge the customer more? You guys are such a bunch of tools. SMDH.
