This review was supposed to come out before the Kickstarter campaign but it wasn't approved. My thoughts about this product is the same now and six months ago.
The camera takes lovely pictures and the display of those pictures is really nice for a ink device.... And then that process completely bogs down the device and it crashes. To slow down the time it takes to the next crash I have put it on performance mode which is not how it came and fast mode and a refresh rate of 50. And that helps somewhat but no device should be this glitchy.
Any words about why it was not approved ? Really neutral and complete reviews of products like this one are precious to choose wisely not only the products, but also the firm/brand selling promises 🙂
@@teohontech7141 The only other is from Good E Reader, which has a conflict of interests. Tanks, now I don't want gallery3, would rather stay with B/W Boox note
Thank you for taking the time to do such a detailed run down of the different eink screen modes. The difference in refresh time between Normal and HD is shocking. Really does make it apparent why most manufacturers opt for Kaleido 3 for the faster refresh/less ghosting at the cost of saturation and contrast. I do feel most of these drawbacks could be tolerable. Though it’s hard to deal with at such a premium price.
thanks for sharing and being honest. Ghosting is really big for me and that yellow smudge is a red flag for sure. I do love the idea of these screens however and hope they continue to improve. Screen technology has been stagnant for the last couple of years
Great and honest review indeed; is the battery life connected to a constant wi-if connection? If I download books I guess that it improves, doesn’it it.
Personally hoping for a Cintiq with an e-ink display since I only draw black and white. Saw a demo unit of the Boox Mira Pro 25.3 the other day and absolutely fell in love.
Thanks for this review. I've yet to be convinced of color e-ink devices but appreciate you sharing your experience with this device. ----------- Will you be doing a review of the new XP-Pen drawing tablets? Specifically the Deco Pro (Gen 2)? I haven't seen anyone talking about them since they were revealed in May. 🤔
Hi Mr Teoh , I am interested in the pixel tablet for beginner using concepts is it capable of complex shading etc. As it is priced around same price as Samsung S7 fe do you have a view on this. Budget around £600. Thank you for your concept videos very helpful.
Not sure about that Pixel Tablet though. Read that it supports USI 2 pen. And that’s all the info so far. The Samsung Tab S7FE with S Pen have good drawing performance. If you can wait, wait til July 2023 for the Samsung announcement.
@@yuh42011 I am happy with Kaleido 3 for my applications (reading technical documents with graphs/tables and power point slides). That's all I think E-ink should be used for to be honest. Anyone expecting E-ink to compete with OLED in regards to browsing/videos clearly doesn't understand the technology and what it is meant for.
While i like the idea that e ink tablets have come this far, i can see this being a huge issue for people with epilepsy. That screen refresh flash has to hurt, especially in color mode. Black and white wouldn't be as bad but still...
