Game Boy DMG Replacement Shell Review and Install 

Had this exact same problem with the custom case that I bought. Fixed it by patently hand filing the screw posts around the A/B buttons and I also sanded down the speaker rim a little bit. Then I put some thin plastic (approximately 1mm thickness) INSIDE the new A/B buttons. I got the plastic polystyrene from a local hobby shop, but I think any thin plastic would work, even old credit cards. Buttons work great now, they aren't loose and they don't rattle when shaken anymore.

The actual replacement installation starts at 12:07.

It's a good idea, when manually tapping virgin plastic, to twist about half a turn in, then back out, then a full turn in, then out, etc. At least you'd know the screw is taping properly, without the fear of breaking something.

You need a set of calipers to measure the old case post heights and the new case post heights. Drop by harbor freight and get a set of digital ones.

I love how come I started looking for a replacement case for my original Gameboy around 2010 or 2011ish and by 2015 they already have them on the market.

Nice video. I've been doing a lot of custom mods on my original DMG game boys. I purchased most of my parts from handheldlegends they have the original color and other colors to change it up.

I got one of these also it's as close as it can be really considering the fact they are knock off and it looks just above the speaker grill is marks from the mold they use but other than that its a good replacement to breathe new life into a dusty/dirty old machine :)

Making this into a little computer :D the DPad acts as a track pad, while b is right click, and a is left click, not sure what to make the other keys, but i think this would be a fun project!

Got one from aliexpress. I had the same problem with yours, and even d-pad was lower too. I'll try to fix it.

I got one of these from Ali express and the button hoes are slightly off so I have to sort to force the case together. It's not good at all. Should I return for refund or is it to be expected?

1:30 yes retor bright isnt always the answer but pleas loock at some videos from the youtuher the 8 bit guy becous he shows you how to do it right and with his method its 90% the best way to remove the yellow collor

I'm fairly certain that the issue here was simply that the inside of the buttons were just too short compared to the original buttons. It would have been better to fill out those buttons first before you started shaving off parts of the shell.

I bought mine from someone else, so hopefully the screws and buttons won't be a problem.

I got a replacement for mine it is Yellow. The quality is pretty decent. it was $10 on ebay.

Nice vid! I just purchased a gameboy dmg from ebay but there seems to be a problem with it. Every time I press the start button the game restarts! You can see the black vertical line (like when you turn it on and off) and then it restarts. What do you suggest? Is it an easy fix?
