Hi, thanks for the question. I’m in agreement with you about zone defense in youth basketball. It’s terrible for the players. There is no easy answer to your question. Two things that might help out. 1. If they are packing it in, move your offense inside the 3 point line. 2. Really teach your players ball fakes. Fake a pass to make a pass is extremely effective against a zone. Those are two things I’d start with and of course the no brained is work on your outside shooting but I understand that’s tough at that young age. Hope this helps.
