@@icasticasticast Za'atar with olive oil and a bit of salt is really delicious! Might sound a bit weird at first but it's great with pretty much any kind of bread
Me, trying to tick off my football-obsessed boss year before last: "so, I hear SportsCon was last weekend! Were there lots of cosplayers? Who sportsed harder?"
Weird how this babish addiction started by me searching ‘krabby patty’ in the search bar, and now this is one of my favourite channels on this platform
Me too lol, I discover I like watching cooking channels after watching binging with babish and bon appetit videos it all started on searching in krabby patty
I prefer to make waffle-coated chicken. Just make the waffle batter, dip the chicken in it and deepfry it. Only issue is not knowing what to dip it in as Syrup isn't the first thing you think of when it comes to "chicken"; and Ranch doesn't exactly go with waffles, but I found that Honey Mustard (with emphasis on the honey) works well with.
@@apocalypt_us7941 In some parts of the world HP sauce and English mustard are absolute basics, but I wouldn't except people from other regions of the world to consider them a basic kitchen staple.
@@oliverwright7932 Sure, but I don't think the "Basics with Babish" video series has ever sold itself as "only includes basic ingredients that are common worldwide"
@@prernamehta7391 in WNY; Western New York, cannolis are very popular. In the most notable WNY city, being Buffalo, there is at least a dozen Italian bakeries and cafés where cannolis are a popular choice.
Every video, im amazed at the amount of content Andrew can cram into a -10 minute video. Its incredible and so enjoyable. It seems like hours worth of info and content, but its only been a couple minutes
I'll be honest, I have no idea what teams are playing and I didn't even know the Super Bowl was this Sunday until I saw a video a couple days ago about what trailers might air during the game.
When It comes to seasoning popcorn I have one more tip that wasn't mentioned - blend your spice mix using an electric coffee grinder. Especially helpful when adding herbs/spices that are bigger and don't want to stick too well, but really useful even if seasoning with just salt. Also as a base I like to use an equal mix of salt and msg with a tiniest sprinkle of citric acid to which I add different flavorings (herb blends, nutritional yeast, smoked paprika, garlic powder, anything really works with popcorn). This base allows me to season more liberally to replicate how much flavor is on commercial snacks like chips without it being overly salty and flat.
Wonton chips are an underutilized miracle. I once had a plate of sashimi “nachos” with spicy tuna and wasabi mayonnaise garnished with caviar. The chips were fried wontons. Eaten on the beach with a tall pilsner after a 30 mile bike ride. So nice.
@@harvestmoon_autumnsky there's a pause in the word, like zaa-tar (i know this sounds like what he said but trust me there's a noticeable difference in pronounciation, i just don't know how to describe it that well)
@@harvestmoon_autumnsky It is actually pronounced like zaa-tar. Stretch the 'a' a little more....a tiny little space in between and tar doesn't sound like the way one would pronounce tart but here the 'a' is very short and the t is pronounced a little like 'th' with more emphasis on 't' than on 'h'
I was showing my mom some Babish to give her some cooking ideas and after like 3 episodes I asked her what she thought. Her response: "well... He sure loves that tiny wisk" 🤦🏾♂️
tip from being a popcorn nerd at an old school movie theatre - the magic to the salt is to get flour salt - it's pulverized insanely finely. You can do this in your blender or food processor, or portar and mestle. The finer the salt, the further it spreads more thinly giving each bite a more uniform awesomeness.
Top popcorn tip, use Lao Gan Ma to make popcorn - strain the oil and use it to pop the corn (so as not to end up with loads of burnt chilli flakes), and then add the chilli from the strainer to the popcorn post-pop. Best popcorn I've ever had! And I studied film so trust me, I know a thing or two about the corn that pops.
@@lordmuhehe4605 you are correct, I am an absolute donut. But I would still say he should have done pepcorn and not some facsimile, give the people what they need!
I'm jealous of Indian peoples tolerance for spicy food. All my favourite foods are spicy but I have chronic pain which heightens any pain at all I feel. I crave the ability to eat a vindaloo.
Please make Bubble Buddy (not Bubble Bass) Krabby Patty: No cheese, wheat buns with no crust (if it's possible), pickles on the left side, 4 squirts of ketchup under the patty, non-deli lettuce, & farm raised tomatoes carnival style
I'm waiting for the crossover of BwB and Life of Boris where Andrew uses all these luxury ingredients and Boris fails to pronounce them and just opts for black pepper and mayo.
"Hey, do you wanna come watch the big game with us?" "What? No, I don't even like sports. Why did you ask?" "Because we're watching it at Babish's place." "WOO! GO SPORTS!"
Can you do the cinnamon monkey bread from the Twin Peaks episode of Psych? Love your channel btw it’s so nice to see someone as a normal person make it so far with the culinary community ❤️ truly inspiring
@@UnitedAssassinRevolution using buttermilk in a pancake recipe, spraying a waffle iron with a nonstick spray instead of just buttering it and eating waffles with chicken. Most Belgians shudder at all of those things tbh
Just a PSA on the nugs they can most definitely be done in an air fryer. The trick is to lightly coat the nugs once bathed in the dry dredge with a sprits of oil to get that that golden brown crispness.
Apparently there’s going to be a Disney plus tv series that goes through the original five books, and Rick Riordan is being directly involved in all stages in the process
Fun fact: for a slightly healthier popcorn, you can put 1/4c in a brown paper lunch bag and pop in the microwave for 2.5-3 minutes, until there are a 1-2 seconds between pops. I like using about half the melted butter I’d normally use, then mix in soy sauce, then drizzle over popcorn. It doesn’t taste like soy, it just gives you a delicious nutty umami bomb. So tasty!
Also there’s a kind of similar healthier version of the cannoli dip too! It’s often found online as “healthy funfetti dip” or “healthy dunkaroos”, but there’s usually a mix of cool whip, Greek yogurt, sometimes cream cheese, and either pudding mix or cake mix. Great with fruit, graham crackers, and pretty much anything else.
