Guys, I know that Log Horizon has a second season. I put the key art for the second season in The Bucket We Don't Acknowledge, alongside Dexter's eighth season and the live-action A:TLA movie. Stop saying I meant "third season." I didn't.
Log Horizon's second season was just like Overlord's second season IMO. Good for world building and setup for a third season, but rather disappointing in most other aspects.
Laura Tatum well if you’re ever burnt out on intense dramas or action shows, this is a good show to relax and follow. I’m not saying it can’t make you emotional, it’s just a lot calmer and more down to earth than most anime these days

It's more that hayashi's kanji means a small Grove of trees while adding the third part on top makes it designate a whole, large forest. Possibly about how hayashi only shows a small part of morioka's traits

Fun fact: a lot of the game mechanics used in Shellfish Online are actually taken from a game known as Mabinogi, the title/logo/some images of which can actually be seen a few times in the convenience store as an advertisement. Shellfish Online shares many similar visual and gameplay similarities from the character creation, to quests being dropped by a bird and even to the quickbars design at the bottom of the page.

You know french, so I appreciate the funny route you took with translating Fruits de Mer, because the way they used it probably was a LITERAL translation of those words into English which would have been "Fruits of the sea" but Shellfish is way funnier.

I just realized something.... Morioka is basically adult Tomoko. I mean she's alot better off for sure, but somewhat similar. That must be why I like this show so much.
Oh, I've never thought about it until they were written out, but that's pretty clever. Hayashi means forest in Japanese. Mori also means forest but...bigger? I guess it's close to the difference between a wood and a forest. And the ko kanji in Moriko is generally used to suggest child. Same kanji as KOdomo (child) or KOinu (puppy), etc. So it's the comparison of a smaller forest vs. forest + child. That makes for a really interesting point of metaphorical comparison, I kind of love that!
The only thing not perfect about this video is the lack of musical masterpieces. Seriously though, I loved you videos about MMO Junkie and your two music rants aswell.
I would have guessed that Fruits de Mer meant Seafood. Like, in Portuguese "Frutos do Mar" are basically any seafood. And at least in Spain I heard "Frutos del Mar/ Frutos de' Mar" used in the same way.

3:20 The same reason that I can't accept "Arister Crowrey" in the english dub of D Grey Man. I get that that is the closest Japanese can get to Aleister Crowley, but when you translate it back to english, you could use the proper pronunciation.
Thank you for another great video! One small thing to mention: while your point about Morioka covering her mirror to avoid her reflection is interesting, I think this is actually a cultural thing? Covering mirrors in the bedroom has to do with a superstition about bad spirits coming out of them at night to take you away, if I'm remembering right. Though I've also seen the same thing done for other reflective surfaces, like televisions and computer monitors? So there could be something said for her covering the mirror, (in that she's maybe a bit old-fashioned or superstitious) but leaving the computer screen uncovered (where her online connections mean more to her than the superstition.) Either way, always wonderful to see another video from you, especially about a series that meant a lot to me too! ( ´ ∀ `)ノ～ ♡
Its a good point to bring up that Morioka and Sakurai, who are living through other people with their mmo avatars, other characters, (for example Koiwai) who are only using them as avatars do not have different voice actors for their mmo characters (at least in the dub)

Log Horizon Season 2 was not much worse than the first one, it dragged in places and some plot elements are questionable, but it does not belong in the same bucket as the Avatar movie.

I thought "Fruits de Mer" translated more to seafood than shellfish. Also, Log Horizon did get a second season. It probably won't get a third because the author, I hear, got arrested for tax-reasons and can't write any more books.
Literally, in meaning or intention? A translation always has to bias for one of them. Literally, you are right. In meaning... I am uncertain. Seafood includes fish and shell fish, where as "fruits de mer" (specifically when used as foreign word in both Japanese and English) specifically implies "not just fish - everything the sea has to offer"
I don't speak French, but I do speak a little Italian, and both are descended from Latin, so close enough I guess? The literal translation is "fruit of the sea", but the connotation is closer to mixed seafood. If you see the phrase "frutti di mare" in Italian, it usually implies some combination of shellfish, molluscs, squid, or very small fish such as sardines, all in the same dish. I've seen the descriptor applied to soups, stews, pasta, risotto, and, my hand to God, pizza.
