My favorite part of Lost Song was when the main character's friend started excitedly explaining his invention with upbeat music playing in the background, and then somebody yeets a dagger into his shoulder from off screen.

Even as soulless as the show was, that is so outrageously, monumentally stupid that it becomes funny again.

"Lord Of The Rings where Gandalf is a bard" is probably the greatest idea for a story ever.

Wow I teared up at you describing how the sister died. That’s actually a brilliant (and horribly sad) way to have some one die. Now I can’t watch the scene for fear that that magic way you described it would be ruined by actually watching it.

1:50 I'd say that there are some "so bad it's good" situations which come about specifically _because_ nobody working on the project cared about it. Most obvious of these is the Ghost Stories dub, where whoever was in charge of the dub cared so little that they just let the VAs do whatever they wanted, and they, subsequently, went absolutely wild.

I have watched most of Lost Song, and I can't finish it legit because of the whole TED talk thing, it hurt my brain way to much to the point where I can't even talk about Lost Song without remembering that entire episode. Apart from that though the anime is pretty good

Oh thank God someone else is talking about Lost Song. I thought I was the only living human who ever saw this show. When that time loop hit and then afterwards they picked up the story exactly where they left off without mentioning that the entire cast had perished in fire and been reborn I was like "wtf????" It was like it changed genres for a single episode.

This is actually the exact reason I love the 60’s Adam West Batman. It has the corniest dialogue you will ever hear, it has like three climaxes, and it has a scene where they just run through New York, IN COSTUME, to get to the shittiest recreation of a UN building I have ever seen. It is undeniably not ‘good’ in a traditional sense but it had so much love put into it and you can tell everyone who worked on it had so much fun that I just like to sit down and watch it every so often to cheer myself up.

My best friend and I watched Last Song based on this. We love incredibad stuff and it did NOT disappoint. Thank you. I fell off my couch laughing so hard from Prince Rudo's hyper villainy.

It's one thing if you don't like Holo, I could live with that. Though if you actually think she is unlikable I think we need a 30 minute video explaining why tens of thousands of us are wrong. If this was all a clever ploy to get people to comment we still need a video, but that one could be like two minutes to say 'gotcha'.

I legit want to see an anime where a bunch of kids try make the stupidest anime plot and somehow people love it. Also imagine if in My Hero Academia that Deku is set off into an unstoppable rage similar to Donald Duck and similar to Uncle Scrooge he managed to tear apart a boat. Also if you ever wanna do a look at any piece of American media for April Fools. I think The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck would make for a good April fools review.

I have to disagree with the ending point. If I worked hard on writing and designing an anime passion project that goes on to air on TV and streaming services, and people only like it because they see it as "so bad it's funny" then I'm not going to be "I accidently created something funny people are enjoying only ironically" I'm actually going to cry myself to sleep knowing the passion project I dedicated so much time and money to has been turned into a cheap laugh by the majority of my target audience. Love your videos btw!

I sort of agree with this video's thesis. Ironic entertainment is a variation of "serious comedy", where characters take themselves dead seriously while doing something utterly rediculous.

Imagine putting all your passion into this video only to have every comment talk about your one-off Holo joke. Also I actually liked Lost Song, I'd say it's a solid 6/10.

Lost song is so great, I love how the whole genre practically changes halfway.

Make a video on how Jojo's Bizzare Adventure use of color; more often than not the characters are not in their "correct" colors: a sad scene will have everything be in blue, a confused character might be colored purple, etc

I was this close to closing the video, unsubscribing and going on my merry way because I can't trust another word you say after that very wrong declaration but I only stopped because I've seen some of your videos before and I know you have a few proper things to say so now I'm conflicted ... let's just say I'm not happy.

There's some turd called cheat magician or something like that. I found the show fascinating even though it didn't make me laugh very much. The studio clearly didn't care and who knows if the original light novel writer did but it just amazed me in _how_ it was so bad. It uses so many tropes that the tropes started clashing with each other and then it tries to be self aware but couldn't even do that right. I had the feeling the writer thought he was being ambitious but every "idea" he had was just another trope. But also the most vanilla white bread version of the trope you could ever use.

Two videos in one month? This is a miracle!

I only binge watched the first eight episodes on Netflix because it was a really slow day and the music was really good (I had the Song of Destruction on repeat for a good few days) Then the time travel twist happened in episode 9 or whatever and it's honestly the best part of the show's plot and even sort of explains how garbage the pacing is before then. It almost makes rewatching this anime worth it to notice the little (intentional) inconsistencies between the timeline. Unfortunately the pacing is still garbage so at most I'd recommend like, reading the Wikipedia article on it unless you have an afternoon to burn.

Please. Please, I am begging you. Watch "Durarara!!" It is the sister series to "Baccano!" Same author, but he wrote this AFTER Baccano! In fact, it actually takes place *in the same world* as Baccano!, just in present(-ish) day Japan! Best explanation I can give of it: A slice of life, but the main character is the underbelly of a whole city, NOT high school kids (though it tries to fake you out in the first few eps). Main characters include: a headless fairy, an underground doctor, multiple gang leaders, yakuza, russian assassins, a demon sword that mind-controls people, a manipulative info broker, and a short-fused guy in a bartender outfit that can throw vending machines *and is, somehow, the most feared guy in said city* over everyone I just mentioned. Saw the twisted reference at the beginning and instantly had to subscribe, also keep up the good work! This analysis of "So-Bad Its Good" media is fantastic and probably one of the best bits introspection on the form of media as a whole.

Ok, I finished watching the anime. Very beautiful and underrated, but the ending was indeed rushed. 20 episodes or more would have been a preferable structure. But I was left with two doubts: -Do Al's feelings for Rin count as incest ? -Does Allu's younger sister have self-harm issues along with her mutated sleep disease ? Her thing of letting the dog bite her in order to try and accept the world's danger is extremely similar to a cutter who does it to remind themselves they're alive.

You should check out JelloApocalypse on youtube. He has a grading scale for films that accounts for "it's so bad that it's good". The scale has a traditional 0-10 grading side, but also a (negative) -10-0 side as well, with -10 being the best of "so bad it's good" and 0 being uninspired trash like you're talking about. It's basically a grading parabola instead of a grading line, with 0 at the bottom, and -10 and 10 at the tops of each leg of the parabola.

My favorite so bad it's good anime is "The Lost Village" Though it has to be intentionality bad.

I kinda felt this way about Wiseman's Grandson. It was so generic and crap, but every now and then they would ponder something really intresting about how the main character being powerful might destroy the casual everyday life he's living but then they would completely forget about it by the end of the episode. I also found it hillarious how they made it an Isekai for litteraly no reason as the MC loses all his memories when he's reborn. Honestly still can't tell if it was trying to be a parody or not.

This show is interesting cuz already a Main Character casting magic by singing isn't something I myself saw too often, but other than that it's mostly just fine. Then THAT event happened and we follow Finis through multiple timeloops and it actually did things very effectively (when she accidentally impales herself only to creepily keep going after breaking free? Excellent) and I REALLY liked that part of the show Then it got back to being fine and rather silly unfortunately but y'know, nothing is perfect always
