Agree with your head to head. Love the 14 for its tangy waxy fruit that is unique to Clynelish, the GoT is thin and young-ish but still good. I've also had a few IB Clynelish and they don't stray too far from that profile.

Yeah, that bigger than you intended splash in the 14, ✌️I find the 14 needs a rest in the glass with some water to really get going, but once you get that water to spirit balance right I don't know of a whisky at a similar price point and style that's better value. Presses all my buttons.

I had gotten duplicates of the Clynelish and Oban... Wishing I had gotten doubles of the Talisker and Lagavulin. That Talisker just spoke to me.

It's really hard to beat clynelish 14. It's by far one of my favorites. I can see why so many blenders use it

Thank you so much for the comparative review. I just managed to secure a bottle of the GOT Clynelish after hunting around the world for it. But bought the 14 as an emergency back up to drink. As the GOT is now worth too much for me to open. So I'm happy the 14 according to your review on par or better than the GOT. Thanks from a new whisky drinker in Melbourne, Australia. Keep the reviews coming, they help a lot.

Nice review, guys. I picked up bottles of the Lagavulin and Talisker GoT series but couldn’t find the Clynelish expression, and now they are all gone in my area.

Just tried the 14 as my first single malt ever. Had to research the reviews after to make sure I wasn’t over hyping it. Smoked a Zino cigar with it and wow! Any scotch suggestions for a newbie like me?

Nicely done head to head gentlemen, I would have to go for the Clynelish 14 simply because the GoT will probably never make it to my state and yes the secondary prices are bonkers. Cheers to the best dram in your glass!

The 14 is one of my favorite scotchs. It is a shame my state doesn't sell it. :-( I have the chance to pick up the GoT at retail, so I will give it a try... hoping its Clynelish heritage comes through. Thanks for the comparison review.

It's funny you said the 14 smelled stronger than the tyrell. My fiancee got me the tyrell, greyjoy, tully, and baratheon for Christmas. I put all 4 in a flight and despite the tyrell being the highest abv of all, it was the most mild on the nose by far.

At least the NAS is giving more ABV at the same price. I haven't seen the GOT edition but would be hard for me to choose it over the 14. Cheers

Cool on-table-swirl technique! Its loud, but whisky does a beautiful "maelstrom" in the glass. Not sure if there is a difference in nosing, but it looks way better

IMO, it's splitting hairs comparing two bottles. More like a fruit salad for the GoT and a little more wood character for the 14. Both mouth feels were pretty thick for me. A distillery that will always have a spot on my bar. Cheers gents
