Yeah, I was just listening to his gibberish account his supposed motivations during Balon's Rebellion, and thinking "this is shit". They not only misunderstood and misrepresented the character, they didn't even try. It's a travesty on a par with their handling of Dorne.

I was sad too when it ended, and how it ended, until HOTD came out. The Lore is so deep and the writing is there, as long as its HBO that makes whatever series
I liked the end for the most part. Wish it was better though. D&D should have handed it over instead of rushing through it. I would have preferred two or three full seasons over the two short ones.
There are some symptoms in HotD's writing choices that might be cause for some concern, but all in all they did a stunning job adapting the 30 odd pages they had to work with haha
My favorite part of the Lore is all about the Blackfyres. Including the stories of other Great Bastards (king's bastards on highborn ladies), Bittersteel, Bloodraven, Shiera Seastar, and more.

Although Aerys did suffer unjustly at the hands of Darklyn in Duskendale and that did set off his madness, Aerys was never a good king. He, Tywin and Robert Baratheon's father Steffon Baratheon grew up together as best friends, Tywin was even the one who knighted Aerys in the War of the Ninepenny kings where they fought together. But as a new king Aerys was impulsive, shallow and incompetent. Declaring grand plans for the realm but abandoning them quickly when growing bored, and he quickly grew jealous of Tywin's success as Hand and constantly insulted and undermined him. Even framed Tywin for bad legislations like higher taxes whom Aerys himself had issued. Then there was the whole ordeal of Aerys lusting after and hitting on Joanna, Tywin's wife, even openly commenting on her breasts at a feast once and lamenting that the "Lord's right to first night" had been abolished. Any success and prosperity during Aerys' reign was due to Tywin, and the Mad King was never a good king, even before madness.
Maegor the cruel, Aegon II the usurper, Aegon IV the unworthy and Aerys II the mad king are the 4 Targaryen kings who did the most damage. - The first, Maegor, son of Aegon I and Visenya, usurped the crown of his brother's son (then killed him), started a civil war by attacking the militant faith, and executed anyone who contested his decisions, married 6 women, tortured and killed several of them. Upon his death, Jaehaerys the Conciliator (the king of the House of the Dragon prologue) inherited a battered kingdom. Fortunately, Jaehaerys was the wisest king, and no king has made the kingdom so prosperous. He brought the Targaryen dynasty to its peak. - Aegon 2, son of Alicent, usurped the crown from his half-sister, Rhaenyra, unleashing the deadliest civil war in the history of the 7 crowns, known as the Dance of the Dragons (CF House of the dragon). - Aegon IV, son of Viserys II, will be the king most unworthy of his crown. There is no such thing as Targaryen Madness only 5 Targaryens went mad and not all of those 5 were kings but only one is called Mad King so all the tales about half Targaryens going mad is too mach

Blackfyre rebellions are so interesting and easily my favourite part of Non-magic Game of thrones Lore, They also “may” Play a part With Faegon and BR hopefully in a future book 🙃 maybe House of the dragon will even touch on it later since it’s not called “the dance of dragons” but the Full house

I know its a long shot, and you'll probably do it off camera, but I'd love to see your reaction to rewatching season one. Unpopular opinion, but it's my favorite season of the whole series for some reason. I think I just love beginnings of an epic journey and that's when the story is most grounded & pure in terms of philosophical/moral dilemmas and game theory.
With the inclusion of a prophecy to HOTD, I have to think on how much pressure Aerys was under. He was fifteen (15) when Rhaegar was born. He lost his grandfather, uncle, and Ser Duncan at the same time as Rhaegar's birth. Aerys ought and knighted against a Blackfyre rebellion (age 16). He and Rhaella lost many children/pregnancies. Likely due to Rhaella getting pregnant too young; she was 14 when Rhaegar was born. miscarriage in 263 AC. Aerys 19. Rhaella 18 miscarriage in 264 AC. Aerys 20 Rhaella 19 Princess Shaena Targaryen, born in 267 AC, stillborn. Aery 23 and Rhaella 22. Prince Daeron Targaryen, born in 269 AC, lived only half a year. Aerys, 25, and Rhaella, 24. stillbirth in 270 AC, gender and name of child unknown. Aerys 26 and Rhaella 25. Aerys began to doubt Rhaella’s fidelity since her children died, as the gods would not want a bastard to sit on the Iron Throne. So he confined her to Maegor’s holdfast and had two Septas sleep in her chambers. miscarriage in 271 AC. Prince Aegon Targaryen, born in 272 AC, born two months premature, died in 273 AC Prince Jaehaerys Targaryen, born in 274 AC, died later that same year. Aerys is 30. Rhaella is 29. Rhaegar is 15. Aerys now blames his mistress and her family. He has them tortured and executed, fasts for two weeks, complete a walk of penitence and prays with High Septon. Aerys vows to remain faithful to Rhaella in 275. Viserys is born healthy and robust in 276. The next year, the Defiance of Duskendale.
Rhaella probably didn't get pregnant because of the amount of impurity in their DNA. One or two generations of inbreeding is fine but Targaryens had been inbreeding for 7-8 generations by this point of time. Things were different in Old Valyria where there were 40 different dragon lord families, there was gap in generations and inbreeding within the same lines but since Jaehaerys's time there was so much inbreeding within the same family line. It was likely comping against Targaryen's own neck by now.
@@Tooba-K123 Inbreeding suppression is a large factor, but Rhaella was so young to have Rhaegar. Then multiple pregnancies back to back with little healing in between.
6:34 Jaime is throwing shade at the Greyjoys here, but the Lannisters did the same thing. Tywin waited for the Baratheons, Arryns, Starks and Tullys to do all of the real fighting and then showed up after Robert had won on the trident to sack the capital and kill women and children under a peace banner. That seems to me to be a lot more underhanded than what Quellon did.😂
Quellon seemed like a man of peace, which is rare for the Ironborn and simply didnt want his people dying for no good reason. Tywin's reasoning was basically "i have nothing to gain by backing either team." Same for freys.
@@godemperorofmankind3.091 Yeah. I'm not saying Tywin was stupid for doing what he did. It was the smart thing to do. The same is true for the Freys and the Greyjoys. None of it was honorable though and I think the Lannisters really went beyond what Walder and Quellon did by sacking the city under a peace banner and killing off the royal family (Jaime can be mostly excused, because Aerys needed to die).
PLEASE DO NOT WATCH THEORY VIDEOS. They will inevitable full of book spoilers and the books are so different. Please just read the books! There are some crazy book-only plot lines that you will never expect. You would also really enjoy the prequel novellas, compiled in “a Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” but often referred to as “Dunk and Egg”. The Blackfyre rebellions are quite a significant part.
There is a rumour that Varys is actually a secret Blackfyre that survived. As he knew the secrets paths, And if you look at all the Targaryen's most end with rys.. Danaerys, Viserys, ...Varys..??? And that Even Tyrion is meant to be supposedly an illegitimate son of one of Targaryens and his true mother in an affair.. which is why Tywin hated whores.. and why he wanted to kill Tyrion because he was never sure if he was his son or not. And its also why Tyrion was always fanscinated by dragons, and was never killed when he released the dragons,as dragons sense the targaryen blood.
Concerning the Blackfyres ( My favorite House B.T.W.) there`s is a theory that Aegon VI ( Young Griff on Books) is actually a Blackfyre by her Mother side.

I said this in the other video but Jon would have been a bad king for the same reason Eddard would have been. He is too honorable and stubborn, and would find himself lost in the snake pit of politics and scheming in the capital.
Absolutely! He was made Lord Commander of the Night's Watch and his men murdered him; him allies felt like murdering him when he was again too honest with Cersei in the Dragon Pit meeting, and having been made King in the North his position was questioned and undermined by Lady Lyanna Mormont and Sansa Stark - the latter going on to commit an act of treason and betraying Jon. The moment he made the stupendously stupid decision to discard the protection Ned Stark's commitment to keeping his promise to Jon's mother, he (Jon) was in way over his head. While it is generally believed that Sansa betrayed her brother because she thought he should be king, I have a different hypothesis. Lady Stark of Winterfell, who in Arya's estimation is "the smartest person I know", must surely know that Jon does not want the Throne, would reject it, and in fact would not be a particularly good ruler. Sansa has questioned every decision he has made in her presence, she has publicly undermined him in front of his lords and vassals, and in fact given every indication that she thinks she can do a better job of ruling than Jon. Stark men are stupid and they get themselves killed. And she's not wrong on that point. But all Sansa wants is to rule the roost and Winterfell, and the resources and power of the North to defend it. She's been plotting ever since Jon regained Winterfell for her, plotting not for the return of the rightful" heir to the Iron Throne, but plotting to make Lady Sansa Stark Queen in The North. @@noneofyourbeeswax01 couldnt resist trying to take a shit on Sansa, huh? telling one person about his parentage is not treason, especially considering Tyrion is arguably higher ranked than jon is (after he bent the knee). wouldnt it be high treason to keep information from her Hand of the Queen, information he might need to know to do his damn job? secondly, Sansa tells one person she trusts and likes, Tyrion, who as far as she knows, will not use this to hurt jon in any way. ned hid the truth because he knew it might lead to robert wanting to kill Jon. but here, everyone who would want to kill Jon over this information, ALREADY wants to kill him for other reasons. so there's no reason to hide it. thirdly, you probably like and defend Stannis and think anyone and everyone should do everything they possibly can to get him on the throne or else its "treason against the rightful heir". here, jon is the rightful heir and sansa prefers him to Dany, but now you're like "omg treason"? shouldn't you be demanding she fight to her bloody and painful end to get Daenerys off the throne and Jon on it? i mean that is the laws of succession. she didnt "publicly undermine" him. she publicly questioned him ALONG WITH THE ENTIRE REST OF THE COUNTRY. nobody wanted him going south. sansa doesnt care about or want power. she wanted to protect her brother. you know this. you just needed to make up a bunch of ridiculous nonsense so she could look bad and look like a villain. When Bran shows back up alive, Sansa's very first move is to be like "oh shit you're alive, Bran!? well then you run this place, not me. you're lord of Winterfell now." yeah so power hungry, bro....

Some clarification for Aegon the Conqueror’s family: He had two sister-wives: Rhaenys and Visenya. His son by Visenya is Maegor the Cruel, and son by Rhaenys is Aenys. Aenys had 2 sons: Aegon the Uncrowned and Jaeherys. Aenys succeeded the Conqueror, then had his daughter Rhaena and Aegon the Uncrowned married. This sets off the Faith Uprising, and Aenys died after fleeing the uprising to Dragonstone. Maegor had been exiled by this point for taking a second wife, so Aegon the Uncrowned nominally became king. Maegor returns and usurps the throne. After Maegor died, Jaeherys becomes the new king, and he actually is the old king y’all saw at the prologue of HOTD
I would point out two things. Jon is a Targaryen so the snow thing is meh because for him to claim the throne is based on his Targaryen blood. The second is that the other Kingdoms, including the Starks, had civil wars. At least the Targaryens didn't start the Dance of the Dragons. That was started by the Hightowers - Alicent, Otto and Criston Cole. Also, Varys' line "half the Targaryen kings landed on madness" is utter crap that the show has exaggerated. There was only two kings who were mad - Aerys, who was driven into madness, and Maegor. All the others were adequate, mediocre or great rulers. Two rulers who were mad in a 300 year old dynasty is pretty good considering there is no monarchy to ever exist where every ruler was good (including the other houses in Westeros). I will die on the hill that the Tarlys brought their fate on themselves for being greedy and betraying their liege lords. They then refused the Wall so obviously death was the option.
I wanted to thank you guys for all the GOT videos I really enjoyed them. I didn't hate the final season or 2 like a lot of ppl seemed to though it should've been a lot better. I really wish you would have chosen the tv series Spartacus from 2010 as your next show. Like GOT it's 1 of my all time favourites. That or another Fantasy or Sci Fi series. Breaking Bad is good but I didn't like it as much as most. I've never watched another reaction video besides your GOT, hopefully you'll have some more shows in the future I'll be interested in watching along with. Again. thank so much for everything.
Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice. The Robert Frost poem that was a partial inspiration for (at least) the title of A Song of Ice and Fire. Moral of the story: fire and ice can both be equally destructive.
Hey @SpartanandPudgey , you should do star wars movies and tv series content... if you havents seen it yet you will really like it... you seem to like getting into the universe and the histories between characters and their families. I think you will really like the Star Wars universe and there is much to explore. I would reccomend watching them in the original release order(before Disney at least) and then you can watch the trilogy that Disney made but most importantly Rogue one (for me its Disney's best work on Star wars). There are tv series as well for you to watch and create content if you wish, such as Mandalorian, Ahsoka, Book of Boba Fett, Kenobi and most importantly Andor.(all of them Disney's work) Trust me. you'll want to take a look.

pretty much every family in Westeros has its problems. if any of them found themselves on the iron throne for 3 straight centuries, i imagine they would have faced similar wars as the Targs did. The Reach has been burned, sacked and attacked for millenia. So were the River Kings.
Frankly, after the disappointing end of GoT, I had no desire to dive back into the lore of this universe, my disappointment was so great. Until I said to myself : why not watch HotD. And there, something happened like when I started the series. GoT's lore is so deep that there's plenty to do with it. I found in HotD the quality of writing of the first seasons of GoT but with the visual quality of the last seasons. It's definitely my favorite universe now.
I think I remember Spartan telling he's a gamer, and week ago, a masterpiece was released by Larian studios, agan, this time even more awesome, Baldur's Gate 3! You and Pudgey could play in co-op! Version for PC was released a week ago, PS5 version will be out in september
We meet the last survivor of the Defiance of Duskendale, he is the drunk knight Sansa saves from Joffrey on his nameday and helps her escape the after the king was poisoned. Of the two houses (Darklyn & Hollard) Aerys orders to be wiped out, only Dontos remains because Barristan Selmy asks for him to be spared. Poor guys entire family is killed and he turned to booze to numb the pain 😢
Damn you finished GoT and started Breaking Bad - you sure know how to pick from the upmost top shelf of shows... I do wish however that you already had done it, because I'm not sure how I can wait days between every reaction for 62 episodes .oO
You have heard of Ser Duncan the Tall; may I suggest reading "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" it is a great book and fun read as it is technically a compilation of 3 short stories.
Euron in the books is not the clown of the television series, although he is still very erratic. If Joffrey is the human villain of the first act and Ramsey has that role in act two, Euron looks like the human villain of act three, which tells you a bit of how different the book character is to the show. And the Blackfyres are the second Targaryen civil war, after the Dance of the Dragons and no more dragons. I really hope they will bring it to the screen as it is one of the more interesting group of characters in the Targaryen history. I wish that final history about Maegor the Cruel would have told you that the young nephew who became the next king was Jaehaerys, as he is known to have been probably the best of the Targaryen kings. He is rule was the longest and he made many improvements to the kingdom. And he was the old man on the throne at the very beginning of the first episode of House of the Dragon.
Ser Barristan regretted saving Aerys since it prevented Rhaegar from being king. _"Duskendale was his finest hour, yet the memory tasted bitter on his tongue."_

Aerys was not always mad he was good king for a white but he went mad because of many reasons loss of his grandfather ,uncle at Summerhall and birth of Rhaegar at the same time Aerys was only 15, he lost many children his wife had 8 miscarriages after Rhaegar and it took him 17 years to get another son Viserys ,Varys whispered in his ear against his son so it drew him mad too and what really broke him was imprisonment so a lot
The starks wouldn’t be happy with lyanna and rhaegar. Don’t forget rhaegar already had a wife and had children’s already. The rebellion wasn’t just because of one thing, it had a lot of causes to happen. The mad king was one of them too, ned father and brother was killed by him
But if it wasn't for the Starks thinking that Rhaegar kidnapped Lyanna, they would support his claim to the throne after the mad king is removed. And the outcome would be better than having Robert as king and Cercei as his Queen
If they would have gotten rid of Aerys Ned would have forgiven Rhaegar especially if it was all consensual regardless of Elias existence. Ned would have pushed for Lyannas children to be just as legitimate as Aegon & Rhaenys. The broken betrothal with Robert would have been a problem but Ned would have gotten over it and sided with Lyanna even if he was mad at her.
There was a great special they made along with all the behind the scenes making of episodes. It was about the making and all the work for the last season. It was really great. Showed last days of filming for some characters that made me cry. All the massive amounts of people that put so much effort into creating the show. Hope you can watch it someday. Really enjoyed watching along with you. Spartan might be the only one who hated Cersei as much as me. 💜
I was wondering if they could watch the animated version of the dance of dragons but stop it before it gets to the events of season 2 sense it is narrated by GOT characters and it would kind of cool sense it connect both worlds in a unique for them and they could kind of see how history remembers them and how some narrators feel about them
