I am a straight male and completely comfortable with my sexuality, but I have to admit that he is one very attractive man. He's the whole package. You know those guys that you meet that are just great looking with an accent, everything about them is just awesome, and you swear that they are seducing every person they come into contact with? This is one of those guys. On crack.
I'm a native English speaker, and I do the same thing in French. If I'm in Paris, I use a Paris accent. If I'm in Montreal, my accent turns more French-Canadian. And apparently, when I speak the northern Swiss dialect, I sound German!
Jaime went from the character I hate the most after Joffrey to one of my favorites by season 4. His character seems to have changed a lot since he threw Bran out of the window. Being away from Cersei and spending more time with Brienne probably helped.
The kicker was Season 7 where he FINALLY realized that Cersei doesn't love him. In the books, it's more apparent (from her point of view) that she just sees Jaime as a male version of herself, and in some ways lives vicariously through his actions because she feels robbed of opportunities for power and respect being a woman in Westeros. It's also why she's so spiteful towards Brianne - Brianne is a woman that was born with strength and integrity, and is not beautiful, and yet has managed to do well for herself regardless. To Cersei, it's as if Brianne is cheating, somehow, because she's a woman that didn't need beauty to earn respect. Cersei's biggest flaw is that she is tremendously narcissistic. If you deconstruct what's described about her in the books, Cersei's act of incest with Jaime is, to her, almost like a form of masturbation, and the children from that union are tiny extensions of herself.
Selman Genç its a way of trying to make sense of things that man didnt understand like lighting or the changing of the seasons. But its pretty outdated now.
Nikolaj was born to play Jaime Lannister. Somehow, he pulls it off, even though he isn't as handsome as the JL in the books is "supposed to be", but that's what makes it all the more remarkable, He has an unusual, great charisma and his acting is perfect. Even more than that, though, I respect him because he's actually READING the books as they film each season. I don't think many of the other main characters are doing that aside from Kit Harington - but then whatdya expect, he's a great lad as well.
I think the only actors that don't read the books are Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth), and Maisie Williams (but her parents read the books and explain it to her, so maybe that doesn't count)
I believe that Maisie reads the books or will read the books *when she has time* cause that girl is BUSY! She's in that Bath Dance College and it's very intense. Then, she's recording this very time-consuming show. I wonder if Sophie Turner said she's read it because she and Maisie are like bffs now :)
I know right? I'm totally straight, but he is one good looking guy! It's like he was purposefully carved by angels or something. Part of me is jealous, but the other part is just all like "Damn. That's one handsome fucker."
I have seen a few interviews of him, besides his Danish ones, and I have noticed that he has an AMERICAN accent when being interviewed by American interviewers and he has a BRITISH accent when being interviewed by BRITISH interviewers. Am I the only one noticing this? :/
+Violet Winchester You're not the only one. But I do the same thing, since I'm not native English speaker, when I speak to Americans I do American accent, when I speak to Brits I do British accent (well, I try to). So that's not really weird.
I do the same. I'm Danish working at an international school in Denmark. I go through three or four accents during the day depending on the nationality of the person I'm talking to.
Kasino80 That's pretty cool. I guess when I really think about, I have an African accent when talking to family members and then my Australian one for my friends. It just comes out. HAHAHAHAHAHA :)
The only guy on the show who's both dashing and a man's man. All the rest are either just pretty boys, rough men like The Hound and oldies. Can't wait till they cast Victarion however.
Nevals Civonaja True. I would rather they kept the Iron Islands storyline over the Dorne stuff, but all this does is prove why they need longer seasons.
Shamoun Baratheon I think that was a genuine comment. Weird you guys looked into this interview in this way. The interviewer is from THRONE CAST. And he had relevant questions. Do you really think someone from game of thrones is going to feel that they're wasting their time on THRONE CAST?
sameer borkar There is a movie called Gods of Egypt where he stars as a God. It has very bad CGI. But hey, you just go on insulting anyone on the internet, you'll go far.
It's quite funny to me that people think he has a profound Danish accent.. He doesn't! He has an accent sure, but it's nowhere near as prominent as Mads Mikkelsens in Hannibal..
Laura Kelly Once after spending some time in USA during the summer, in the Swedish class next fall I was speaking Swedish with an American accent, and I am Finnish... It sounded horrible.
After the comparison to Tom Cruise- Interview: I don't know whether to feel good or bad Nikolaj: Your meant to feel good. there should have been a thought bubble: Tom Cruise is the one that should feel bad.
every time i see this dashing man, i am brought to mind of "charming"; the handsome prince from the shrek movie. he has a weird relationship with his closest female relative in that film too. was "charming" modeled on nikolaj ?
I think it's when you put yourself in the situation of your character in order to be more like them and thus act them out better. I personally think it undermines the whole concept of acting, but that's just me.
He's got the "beautiful bad-boy" look down. GoT was the first thing I saw him in then saw him in "Oblivion" and thought "I'm surprised I haven't seen him in lots of other things already." He's a cool looking dude.
Nope, people haven't seen him at his best, yet. Jamie gets to be such a cooler and better character in then next 2 books. Can't wait to see how they portray him in the show in the next 3 seasons. Can't wait to see what happens to him in the next 2 or 3 books.
It's weird how I don't notice his accent at all in the show, but find it quite pronounced here. Suppose there's just no reason to put in as much of an effort for an interview...
I did assume that his changing accent is likely due to him originally being from Denmark so therefore when he first learnt English (which I assume was a long time ago because he's extremely fluent now) he heard it from a number of different sources and accents.
