Actually 4 and 6 were my top if I’m being very accurate! We can’t forget s06 and yes of course this season still had GRRM involved but from a fan service point I believe 6 was epic as well
I agree. Some say season 3…..but i think thats because of the impact of the red wedding. Outside of Dinklage playing Tyrion, who was probably the overwhelming casting choice, Charles Dance and Pedro Pascal playing Tywin and the viper, might be the greatest casting choices in the history of tv.
Sooooo excited to see this season’s reactions!!! And remember, just as the language is an intricate key to this series, the music is just as powerful. If ever you’re curious, listen to the music.
Rhaegar is Dany’s oldest brother. So her older brother married Oberyn’s sister. Rhaegar was Mad Kings oldest son. Dany was the Mad Kings old youngest daughter
No one can possibly dislike Pedro Pascal aka Oberyn the red viper he’s phenomenal acting and in real life! He also dated Lena headey aka Cersei Lannister in real life , oh also Bronn actor dated her except that one ended badly! Lol
The cold open itself tells a great story. We see the Blacksmith making the two swords from Ned's sword Ice as the slow and mournful Stark theme plays, which picks up pace and transforms into the Lannister theme as it cuts to Tywin sinisterly putting a symbolic nail on the Stark coffin by throwing the wolf carcass into the fire. And yes I know that's not how swords are actually forged, but the scene is aesthetically awesome🤷♂️. Jaime...the one man in Westeros who can say no to Tywin's face and live to tell the tale. The favorite son. Very different vibe from Tyrion's talk with Tywin at the beginning of last season.
*"Lady Catelyn had said that Sansa was a gentle soul who loved lemon cakes, silken gowns, and songs of chivalry, yet the girl had seen her father’s head lopped off and been forced to marry one of his killers afterward. She was alone and friendless at court."* - Brienne, A Feast For Crows Smh you know Sansa's hurting when she refuses lemon cakes lol 😩🥺
Of all the great dialogue in this show, two that stand out the most to me are both uttered by the hound in this episode. Funniest line for me is genuinely “what the fuck’s a Lommy?” Idk why but his delivery is just amazing and it makes me laugh every time. One of the best “calm before the storm” lines to me is “you gonna die for some chickens?” Then that cold stare followed by “someone is.” You just know shits gonna go down any second. Love Rory as the hound.
Such a great opener for a season! Love watching your journey with this show! Just to slightly clarify few relationships that have been mentioned throughout the show so far, but understandably can get a bit confusing. Oberyn Martell's (Daddy Pedro) sister, Elia, was married to Rhaegar Targaryen. Prince Rhaegar in part was oldest son of the Mad King (Aerys II) and was an older brother of Viserys and Dany. There is of course a lot to add to those (and others) relationships, but I think this will maybe help a little bit without being too confusing. And you all are absolutely right - it hasn't been that long, after all it was Robert that killed Rhaegar and Jamie who ended Mad King.
Bliss and Trin, it's a bit of a sport watching you girls come up with new ways to look away from the on-screen carnage. Hilarious to the last drop. You gals made my week.
Rhaegar is Daenerys's dead eldest brother (died before the show starts), so Elia (Oberyn's sister) was her sister-in-law and the children that were murdered by Gregory Clegane that Oberyn is seeking to avenge were her niece and nephew as well as Oberyn's. however these events happened before Daenerys was born, she herself never met Rhaegar, Elia, or their children. Elia and her kids died in Robert Baratheon's overthrow of Daenerys's father, which happened because Rhaegar fell in love with Ned's sister Lyanna, who was engaged to Robert, and it is believed that Rhaegar kidnapped and raped her. in revenge Robert challenged and killed Rhaegar and deposed Aerys, and during the fighting Elia and her kids were murdered, rumoredly by Gregor Clegane, which Oberyn believes must have been done under the orders of Tywin Lannister, since Tywin was Gregor's commander. so he's here looking for revenge on Gregor Clegane and Tywin Lannister for the killings of his sister and her kids, but there is no actual proof that they did it, its all just rumors, so he and his family are unable to just put them on trial, they need evidence. hope that helps.
I have no siblings and haven’t thought about it much but seeing you guys together I wish I had siblings or even friends as cool as you. Okay I’m done being pathetic 💀😂
Ellia Martell was Oberyns sister. She married Prince Rhaegar Targaryan who would have been Dany's oldest brother from the Mad King. Also, the new Daario is WAY better. Also, also, Drogon snapping at Dany IS a new development like you said. And Danny could have nipped it in the bud. Treat him like a dog. Stern voice, smack on the nose (off my back animal advocates you dont hit hard enough to hurt them just suprise them. And Dany couldnt hurt drogon with a sledgehammer)
Taven Scuffle #19. ACtion and comedy for days. But only funny if your Arria or the Hound. "So, your gonna die over some chickens." The Hound, "Well somebody is". Love it, love it love it.
I love how GOT can make even the most squirmish of girls have to watch the gore and carnage in order to get the juicy dialogue and high stakes drama all throughout the seven kingdoms. Love it. Very few shows could pull it off.
I gotta say! 😭 there are countless divisive opinions about this show…. But maybe the most universal shared disappointment is the recasting of Daario Naharis! Ed Skrein was somethin else
