I personally think Sansa was always smart, minus season 1. But in season 1 she was a kid, naive, and never taught how to behave a nest of vipers like King's Landing. Considering that she had to survive alone in King's Landing surrounded by Lannisters - she did incredible. But *this* scene solidifies that she can play the game with the best of them.
@slipstreamxr3763
@slipstreamxr3763 Год назад
She was probably always intelligent; she was just never taught to value and use that intelligence to her advantage until she reached King's Landing.
@theinevitableheatdeathofth7921
I mean thats definitely the big lesson of the Starks' downfall at the beginning of the series. Ned has a very rigid code of honor that's nearly inflexible so he rarely engages in subterfuge, and would never teach his children it. Catelyn definitely isn't above engaging in subterfuge when necessary but she probably assumed her daughters would never need it.
@123FUG33
@123FUG33 2 месяца назад
@@slipstreamxr3763this make so much since now to her character development. She was taught the “Stark Way” which was not good to survive in Kings Landing so she adapted and learned.

This was a really interesting episode for the two of them. One thought is "Are you sure you wanted to save that man - probably the most manipulative person in the kingdoms?". Another one is "Dang, that girl is finally becoming a player of the game!" And yet another one is "She might easily end up being his downfall." She knows him a bit too well. She's always been his Achilles' heel (and Cat before her) and she knows it now and can use it. That dress in the end - that didn't look like a naive girl trying on a pretty dress to me. She's learning to play Littlefinger... from Littlefinger. She might end up being the only person who can outplay him.

***** Tyrion Tywin is very different. Tyrion didn't outplay him. I'd say he wen't half mad after losing to Tywin completely. Which is almost the opposite. There was no strategy in there... it was pure desperation and luck on Tyrion's part. Though, yes Tywin did make a fatal mistake of underestimating Tyrion and so I somewhat see the comparison. I don't see the Arya's comparison though. She tricks and kills some people, but that's not the same as outplaying a teacher. And I don't think she's ever done that. Margery Cersey - yeah, there I guess I agree. Anyway, yes, the whole thing is cliche, but it could still be delivered it in an interesting or an unusual way. Plus George loves irony =P

So she testifies in front of Royce and Littlefinger that Lysa suicided via moondoor. Then at the end of Season 7 she accuses Baelish of her murder in front of Royce. 1. Why doesn't Littlefinger bring up this testimony. 2. Why doesn't Royce bring up this testimony. Answer to both: Writers are on acid.

If you use your brain you can gather from what Sansa accused, which was that Baelish manipulated Lysa and Cat and further tried to manipulate Sansa and Arya. Add to the fact that Petr kissed Sansa, we can assume that was part of the plot to manipulate Lysa into becoming hostile to Sansa which would be his excuse to get rid of her. Obviously she was somewhat under his control at that time because she didn't know these nobles, she trusted him up until he gave her to Ramsay. Obviously Royce knew that all of this, regardless of Sansa's testamony, that Baelish is to blame.

@asukachan07
@asukachan07 Год назад
@@kashewz If you think that Sansa would have had a happy ending by being honest, you haven't been paying attention to the show and you have 0/20 hindsight so many years later. The lords and ladies of the Vale always obeyed the rules, always followed the chain of command. You think that they didn't want to fight with Robb back in s2? Ned Stark was their friend! But they stayed put because Robin told them to, or rather because Lysa told them to through Robin. With Lysa dead, who had the best control over Robin? Littlefinger. He could've manipulated Robin into thinking that Sansa was at fault for Lysa's death. Robin was already a murderous brat in the best of moods and he didn’t like Sansa, imagine how unhinged he was after he lost his mother. Would the lords and ladies of the Vale have rescued Sansa from their own liege lord? Not a chance, so she didn't risk it. And even if Robin was out of the picture, Littlefinger had connections in the Vale, Sansa saw that when they made their way to the Eyrie. There's no doubt that Baelish could've escaped his punishment and then become Sansa's enemy. You think that the lords of the Vale could have protected her from poison and backstabbing? No. Keeping Littlefinger in her corner was the smartest decision, and it paid off in later seasons. It's Littlefinger who made the Vale pick a side in the war. Who won the Battle of the Bastard? The Knights of the Vale, because Littlefinger convinced Robin to help Sansa. Yes, he sold Sansa to the Bolton, but getting her Stark name and her home back was better than hiding in the Vale with nothing to her name -- and again, she wouldn't have been safe by becoming Littlefinger's enemy.

This is a really great scene because it epitomises all that she has learned from King's Landing. To everyone talking about sansas new dress and hair: Sansas identity is only known to these 3 Vale lords now, which will keep her safe since they were loyal to Jon Arryn whom raised Ned stark. The dress and hair is just a identity for her, so Little finger can present her as Alayne Stone when they apperently seem to be going on a trip in the Vale with Robin Arryn if i got it right.

The people who still think Sansa is stupid would be the first people to get offed in KL. Wouldn't last a day. You haven't learned anything from watching the show if you think being an old school badass and swinging a sword around is the only (or the best) way to survive. I'm not a fan of them making Baelish seem this vulnerable on the show because he'd never allow it to happen, but on the other hand it's once again worked out just fine in his favor. Sansa's coming into her own and taking charge of her life, but also playing right into Baelish's wishes. This "partners in crime" dynamic will be interesting and those two have great chemistry.
@Theriot6592
@Theriot6592 10 лет назад
The entire plot is set in motion because Sansa is stupid, she tells Cersei Ned's plans because she doesn't want to leave the glamorous capital. And in the books, she IS still stupid and helpless by this point, FYI. Having her actually have, ya know, an ARC is a very welcome change with the show.

Theriot6592 Naivety is not the same as stupidity
@heeprah1870
@heeprah1870 10 лет назад
Theriot6592 She was a naive little girl with her head in the clouds (just as she was raised to be), no one is arguing with that. The point is that she's grown a lot within the series, it's a very realistic character journey of coming to terms with what the world is actually like. And Ned got himself killed. Why does everyone assume that you haven't read the books if you defend Sansa? Her arc is just slower in the books. Here they've sped it up quite a bit and given her more agency earlier on. Many of the nuances are gone in book vs show with most of the characters.
@Theriot6592
@Theriot6592 10 лет назад
hee prah Her arc is NONEXISTENT in the books. As of Dance with Dragons, she hasn't gotten one more bit competent. She's still terrified, helpless, and Littlefinger calls all the shots. It's possible George is planning to develop her in the next two books, but you're just assuming that.
@heeprah1870
@heeprah1870 10 лет назад
Theriot6592 I think you're just missing the subtleties of the writing tbh. There's more to competence than outwardly showing it and taking names. With someone like Littlefinger, you don't even try to call the shots until you're sure you can take him down. She's an unreliable narrator which seems like a defense mechanism more than anything- it's an abusive relationship after all, but she also has moments of lucidity where she questions him. She's growing up and learning from him and changing in the process, a good example is how her reactions to his advances slowly change over time (to more positive ones funnily enough) and it's fairly complex and gradual.

I think Baelish would have had an out plan if he was going to kill Lysa I mean that makes more logical sense, unless he was soooo sure Sansa would lie on his behalf he made quite a gamble when he shoved her w/o considering the consequences.
@erikvhansen

The whole thing plays out differently in the books. There is a singer present when Littlefinger pushes Lysa through the door and in the immediate aftermath Littlefinger convinces Sansa to lie for him and tell everyone that it was this singer who did it. It works and this poor chap takes the fall for Lysa's death. In the show I believe the singer accompanied Tyrion and Bronn back to King's Landing in season 2. It's the one Joffrey told to choose between keeping his fingers or his tongue after he was overheard singing a mocking song about Robert Baratheon.

She's always had that 'dark' manipulative streak in the hope of getting what she wants .. she's just had to conceal it while in Kings Landing, for the most part. -Scene with Joffrey and the Direwolves in S1 .. She spoke back to Joffrey in S1 .. etc

But she can be Queen in the North, too. She's Robb's heir and heir of Winterfell, after the "death" of Bran and Rickon. She has birth right. She can be Queen of the Vale only by marriage with Robin.

I know Littlefinger was an antagonist, and him betraying Ned was terrible. However, I can’t help but love the character. Him, Tyrion, and Varys were by far and away my favorite characters. Tywin and Olenna are honorable mentions for me as well. I just liked how they all played the game with such finesse and navigated traps with such deft that they’d basically pull an uno reverse card whenever someone seemingly finally got them. I know it’s a fantasy show, but let’s be real for a second. Baelish would’ve ended up winning the game of thrones had he not been thwarted by Bran, who literally knows everything that ever happened or will happen. Without such an aggressively OP character, he’d never have been caught.

Game of thrones on the surface is indeed a fantasy show, but in its core it has always been a political drama. D&D couldn't see this and absolutely butchered this show.

I wish they spent more time in the vale instead of the bolton storyline, they could’ve kept ros alive and married her to ramsay because they didn’t introduce jeyne
@co94
@co94 2 года назад
The Bolton story arc gets very confusing. Its handled much better and differently in the books. The Ironborn storyline is also far more interesting in the books. Euron is reduced to a bumbling idiot in the show.
@sigmalpha_testostronewolf
@sigmalpha_testostronewolf 2 года назад
@@co94 I don’t even get why they have euron in the show, they could literally just delete the iron born storyline and nothing would’ve changed s8. we could’ve had the northern conspiracy and the vale arc with an actual good send off to petyr baelish and sansa stark development

This is slightly different in the books and holy shit I'm so glad there is no boring Marrilion trial and torture and the Eyrie drama, from this one scene they are jumping a lot into book 5 and we might even get Winds of WInter content by the middle of season 5

she's lying to herself, if she thinks she didn't get her parents killed and her brother robb, when her father wanted to decamp to winterfell, and the twat wanted to remain at king's landing, after joffery had revealed himself to be a cunt, and got her direwolf killed along with an innocent farmboy.

Season 4 was brilliant and up there with the best season but there were a few moments like Littlefinger pushing Lysa out the moon door with zero plan that made absolutely no sense and wasn’t consistent with his character. In the books he frames someone else, a singer I remember, because Littlefinger thought out everything. He would never leave his faith in the hands of Sansa and hope she all of a sudden becomes Ladyfinger 😂😂 little things like that is when I started to worry about the writing in future seasons

Dear GOT... You do realise you are posting spoilers to the UK viewers before its shown on Sky Atlantic tonight (2nd June) 9pm GMT? Just saying... I already know what happens as I've read the books, but there are people who dont and its not exactly fair to spoil it for them after we had to wait a week because of the US holiday last monday. Please spare a thought for us lot over here
@Ali-re9vu
@Ali-re9vu 10 лет назад
As long as they don't put the spoiler in the title then there's nothing to worry about, people who don't want to be spoiled simply just shouldn't watch the video, at least they haven't posted a video where the title explains the outcome of the trial. And if people are so desperate to not be spoiled they can always watch it online before the uk 9pm showing.
@Kwpolska

Dear Jeff, this is a ’Murica-centric channel, run by a ’Murica-centric TV channel (as we all could experience a week ago). Just make sure not to watch those videos right now. Just do it tomorrow. PS. it’s not GMT, it’s actually BST right now. (and the Universe has replaced 'GMT' with 'UTC' ages ago, for the matter…)
