I've absolutely loved this when I was a kid! I can still distinctly remember how the huge fish in the water levels scared the crap out of me - and that part when you first encounter the moving rock nearly gave me a heart attack. :D I've never managed to finish this game, but I still have very fond memories of it.
Loved this game as a teenager in 1992, wasted hours upon hours playing this. However, I never did find how to get to the secret island. I could see it on the main map, but couldn't find the secret entrance. It wasn't until I was able to obtain all the cheat codes that I could get to it.
Omg!! I totally forgot about this game! For a while my life was built around this game. Hours straight, whole days ive played it. I was so routined i did most on auto pilot... I immediatly recognized every part shown in this clip... Feeling nostalgic now lol Awesome to see this again!
Loved this game back in the day. Still love it. Just beat Keen 5 again a few min ago. Not as good as Keen 4, which ironically was the free shareware version.
I used to play the hell out of this game. It was the first out of the series I played, which probably makes it the most memorable for me as well. Those were the days. :-)
Best quickie i've seen on this old favorite of mine. I like how you present the different enemies and how you deal with them. Bonus points for doom glimpse. Retrogasm achieved, thumbs up! Some trivia: Commander Keen as presented in Goodbye Galaxy is to be found near the exit in one of the secret Doom II levels:-)
I could seriously listen to this voice all day. Also, I played the crap out of Commander Keen, and I never made the connection with the Packers helmet before. Nice
I still remember the levels of this game .. i was maybye 3 years old when i was playing this lol. It was so awesome back then and it still is for me. Apogee had so many awesome games
Dang, what happened to this series? This was an awesome nostalgic game series that I really liked. I also liked the pong minigame on Keen's watch thing in CK4. 8D
i remember this game!!!!! my dad got a version off the internet for his comp! this was one of the first games i learned how to access on the comp thru DOS programming! wow!!!
This, along with the other Commander Keen games (in particular 5 and 6, and to a lesser extent 1 and Dreams), pretty much defined my childhood in gaming. Another game I remember fondly is God of Thunder, which was a Legend of Zelda-inspired, puzzle-driven top-down adventure thing loosely based on Norse mythology. I also recall playing Crystal Caves a lot. MS-DOS shareware was to me what NES and SNES were to other kids of my generation.
FINALLY I HEARD THE NAME OF THIS GAME! I played this when i was like 5-7 and i could understand english back then so i just called the game something like "Jumping Man" (Ridicilous huh :D) then our computer broke down and it was lost and It just faded out of my memory but just few months ago i rememberd the game and i have been searching it until now. THANK YOU!
Commander Keen was surely a very appealing game. I remember playing this a bit, but I do remember the game being pretty difficult for me (I was 7 or 8 around the time). Nice video presentation overall. :D

I knew it came from id, so I'm amazed it's something like this... especially from the game's title. Shame the music doesn't seem so catchy, I guess moving onto first person shooters was fitting for them, ha. (though some Quake music was good)
Holy crap, I loved that game back when I got it free with a joystick I bought for X-wing. I actually managed to beat it and get just about everything! I hope I can find it to download nowadays....
I used to play this when I was about 7 or 8 at school and then my computer teacher gave it to me in one of those discs called 3 1/2 A or something like that! OH THE MEMORIES! :)
@marzilyas I'm glad that you at least recognise my point, even if apparently you disagree. From a practical point-of-view, sensitivity is a useful life-strategy. It minimises blow back.
The fact that its got a secret ending (Not the wolfenstien one) where you can find Commander Keens hung from the neck where you have to blow their bodies up.
Commander Keen 4 is more fun than eating cheese in a particularly sneaky fashion. The sheer variety of levels and enemies is astounding, and the Dopefish is adorable. In a sick, masochistic kinda way. I still plan on frying him if I ever get the chance though, cute or not. Irritating b... Yeah. CK4 is the business.
Oh, the nostalgia... Keen is too often overlooked in my opinion. It's just as classic and memorable as the typical examples people bring up like, like Zelda or Final Fantasy etc. I've gotten DosBox working on my computer; it's only a matter of time until I have every game in this series.

if you get doom 3 BFG edition, you get doom 2 with a co-op mode, where you can select level 34. in this level you get given a rocket launcher and the final boss from doom 3 comes out with a rocket launcher as well trying to kill you. there's a room behind him which is kinda hard to get to but when you do there are 4 commander keens being hung, and you have to kill each one in a certain amount of time and a door will open that leads to the end. me and my friend saw this and we were like wat.
