You're welcome! Variability is often a selling point - "Never the same game twice!" - but I sometimes find the reality doesn't measure up to the promise. -WEM
Sounds like as the game progresses and the more experienced you get, the choices get made for you. The bunch of moving parts ironically limit your choices to the most optimal one (the one shape to get the best ships for the best contracts using the least gold and getting a bonus reef), in which I assume some level of card tracking would happen. Interesting take on Blokus, I think they can take out one of the factors and streamline it.
I wouldn't say the choices are made for you: you can decide to hold ships to claim a bigger contract, you can go for reefs instead of ships if you want hidden information and possible majority cards, you can fight for majorities (and second place) in various quadrants depending on what others are doing. You have choices, but you're definitely squeezed in your choice of ships to claim and spaces to go. -WEM
Too much face time. Need to see more board visuals as you talk about the game. I just got this and found this as a nice review in preparation to unboxing and setting up to play.
