Jan Rodriguez xavier was overrated and shouldn't have been a 1 seed. I wasn't surprised florida State beat them. In fact according to espn when the brackets were announced Xavier was the least favorite of the number 1 seeds to go all the way.

@@pp3k3jamail KenPom is generally thought of as having the best advanced stats we have. If KenPom was used to seed teams (which it's not), Xavier would've been a 4-seed and FSU would've been a 7-seed. KenPom only favored Xavier by 3.5. So it was a matter of Xavier being very overseeded and FSU being slightly underseeded.

First of all, horrible calls. An example was the HORRIBLE blocking foul on JP Macura. Another was when JP clearly blocked the ball cleanly on a fast break, and they called a shooting foul. The replay showed a perfectly blocked layup. Next, X had nearly all their star players in foul trouble before the first half. Hence, Bluiett, Goodin, and even Macura could not lead Xavier to a larger lead in the first half. Btw, not as an opinion, many believe the calls were soft and most were not true fouls on Xavier.

I agree 100% as a Cincinnati native my entire life watching from Pete Gillen all the way through now to Travis Steele Xavier has done much better as a under dog. How many times did Sean Miller lose short of the Final 4 with Xavier my gosh you would have thought he would have won at least once. This loss here Florida State was just better athletes to me. Mack is a terrible coach funny how trouble tends to follow wherever he goes fired by Louisville for NCAA rules violations.

Xavier pretty much choked, Kanter shot an airball 3 pointer with 7 seconds to go in an attempt to tie it, then Florida State shot their free throws and sealed the deal. I was shocked on the way too!

Kevin something was off with Trevon too. He hasn't been playing well in the past several games, sitting on the bench a lot. Macura was amazing. Good game, pretty sad ending for X fans.

Yeah I agree, Xavier started getting a little too comfortable with the lead they had then and started making bad passes offensively and slacked on defense. Florida State clearly wanted it more defensively too, that's why coaches always say play until the final buzzer sounds!

No it's not lol. Im not saying they are overrated just because they lost already. They've been overrated the entire season.

No, I would agree that they should have been about a 2 or 3 seed, but in terms of what they actually accomplished in the regular season, they are not overrated. Yes, they had a few losses to Villanova. But Villanova is just a better team. Still, Villanova lost against St. John's so they are beatable, but not overrated. Anyway, Xavier got the conference wins when it counted, and beat Providence to win the Big East. They had only 5 losses in the regular season against quality teams, but just could not beat Villi. However, they still deserve the Big East season win because of their outstanding record in the conference. Remember, X had fewer losses than Villi in their conference.

By the way saying they should have been a lower seed means they overrated...

They still are good enough in terms of stats to be a 1 seed.
