Game to Anime: Neptunia 

I love the anime. Due to it's humor. Particularly "oh my how lewd ahehe" and Noire's legendary scream. The anime was also able to animate scenes the way the visual novel esque game can't. Which is a bonus of the anime adaptation.

Best part is Nepgear's 1st transformation. Not only did it feel so much like a magical girl's transformation with the music, but its also a neat little development for her.

I think the anime tries to rush many parts of the story to fit into the 12 episode format and some odd extreme tonal shift for the anime where it splits between some comedy with some very oddly serious moments in a flash. I thought the anime was good overall. I would give it a 7/10

I believe The Oracles from the second game had cameos as well. Mina and Kei appear during the ceremony at the start of the first episode as well as the opening sequence used during the latter episode which Chika also appears during.

This is one of the best video game anime adaptations! The art style looks spot on and the dub is super good. I wish Senran Kagura had gotten the same level of treatment

Really enjoyed the Neptunia series after playing the first 3 games on the PS3 so I already knew what to expect. NISA and Gust left the Neptunia series after MK2 because of what I would assume was Gust the company being brought by Tecmo Koei when they were almost bankrupt and NISA was cut off from IF and Compile Heart due to the NISA American company censoring many of the games in the west like Mugen Souls being a prime example of the rift between NISA and IF/Compile Heart. Really one of the funny Game to Anime series where the humor of the Games was enhanced by the Anime series. Kinda wished there was a second season as I am sure it could have covered some of the PS Vita spin off games as well as some stories from the main series during the PS4 era.

I just like! Don't need to watch videos to realize their quality. We know they are great!

the nep anime was great it's what really got me into the franchise after i played rebirth 1

Something that was entirely new for me, and still is since I still haven't seen it in the games I've played so far (which aren't that many) were the "civilian" HDD outfits. Also, they make much better use of the transforms in the anime by just flying with HDD-air. As for the gameanime transfer, I quite liked how the characters just summon their weapons when they need them. Kind of takes care of the magic inventories that games tend to have, and since we're talking Gamindustri it felt completely natural.

I didn't know the anime was largely based around the Neptunia V game. I'd thought it would have been more the first game, which i didn't like as much. Now i wanna to check this anime out. I love Iris Heart and Plutia. :)

I’ve watched the anime Subbed and Dubbed and enjoyed it. I liked its funny and its serious moments. Love the fan service in it to 😉 Overall, on a scale 1 to 10, I’d give it a 8. Great review on it anime 👍

When I first watched the Neptunia anime I only played a bit of VII so I didn't enjoy the anime as much but still liked it. A couple of months later I played through the Rebirth trilogy and re-watched the anime and I enjoyed it a lot more the second time around.

Interesting video, and true that Nep the Animation is a really good adaptation of the games, but certain points I _kind of_ have to nitpick. Kind of. It's the animation part. I'd argue that while it's not awfully prominent, it still has a lot of off-models every now and then. The fights feel a wee bit stiff too. Other than that, it's pretty accurate. Another thing I'm still salty about is the fact that DP did this _before_ Uzume makes an appearance. Why is it so hard to have my waifu fully animated?

To be honest, I liked the anime after playing the Rebirth games. It's best seen after playing the games fully and best seen as its own separate canon. -I think Rei's part was indefinitely rushed and was just there to make a final boss somehow, but that's a 12 episoder for ya. -The thing I love the most was the better characterization of Peashy and Plutia. Peashy is not as annoying and Plutia is finally reasons her own actions and doesn't look down her friends (whenever I think back at Plutia in RB3, I just remember why I hate that game), I actually grown to like them more and see them as separate characters. That sequence with Peashy's farewell also made my heart melt, they have done a far better job at making it a sad scene than the way the game tried even at the normal ending. -I really liked the world insight to the Neptunia world, everytime we just see the towns and stuff in 2D, it was nice to see how it functions. Overall, I think they did a pretty good job with the anime, although they really should have made it a 24-25-26 episodes long anime instead, because there was clearly not enough time for this. Hope they will not give up with the anime though, I hope there will be a second season somehow or they decide to adapt the original games and label those animes as canon with less details (just spare the stupid characteristics RB3 had, please).

They really did it well for newcomer like me Let me tell you how i was dragged to this series. First, it was a collab event with Date A Live Spirit Pledge a game that I played and I don't know why but I start simp for Noire and Nep which made me search for the animation first. After all 12 episodes including the OVA, I started playing Rebirth 1 & 2 (for some reason skipping Rebirth 3) and jump over to Megadimension VII instead. Now being in trilogy finale, Heart Dimension story and aim for every ending (bad, Ascension, and new game plus for Revival) The newest OVA about Nep's festival was out but still only plenty of sub out there for now. Yeah I am following this series, hope for new animation and mainline game still..

seems to me if we ever get a seaspm 2 this will probably end more like the end of rebirth 1 good end and less like the midpoint of Megadimencion. it always bugged me alittle that the game series went with the ending where you fail to redeem Arfoire just for the sake of having a titular villein It would be nice to see her team up with the main girls against a larger threat...but that's only possible in the anime...for now.

This is the very few anime that has good English Dub

R-13 Island? You sure?

Preferring it for no real reason is one thing and totally fine, but let me go into why the English dub gets as much hate as it does, and by extension, _why_ so many people find it worse. The voice actors actually get into their roles in the Japanese versions, they don't just abandon them once something else comes along. You can also tell there's a lot of effort put into the Japanese voice acting that's audibly lacking in the English dubs. It's like the voice direction was to sound as much like it's a parody as possible, when Neptunia is usually about 40% parody and the rest takes itself somewhat seriously. There's major tonal whiplash with the English dubs because of scenes that are written to be serious but have the wrong emotion coming from the characters in English. The last thing is that there's so little variety in the English dub. Everyone sounds like they're from the same pool of voice actors that are in everything. Beyond that, you have the usual generic "I'm in an English dub" tone of voice on literally everybody instead of any semblance of emotion or nuance. This isn't about which voice actors are better, it's about the final performances themselves. Whether the actors are just bad at acting, had bad voice direction, or if English dubs for Japanese media in general just lack much of what the original performances have to offer, the end result is the same: the English dubs of Neptunia are pretty lacking and you should stick with the original Japanese if you want an overall more complete experience.

It is interesting to at least hear someone praise the anime. Much like Danganronpa 1 animation neptunia was just, extremely eh and I didn't watch it beyond 4th episode or so. The original ad for the animation said it would be it's own thing, specifically showing logos of the three games and text "THIS IS NOT ANY OF THESE GAMES" - only to get neptunia mk2 and V abridged, and not that fun one, especially when the anime had so much content from the game and the content not from games wasn't that entertaining. I was personally jarred by the breast based service everywhere which was... More direct than in the games where it was left to mostly Vert or cute girls cute things type of service. It is also silly as the anime is not complete for newcomers not knowing the games or semi-rethreads of the games for those who did.

I like the Japanese voices more since it makes some jokes funnier than it is on the Dub

I won't lie, I genuinely didn't enjoy the anime, even when I was a newcomer to the series (I sort of used it as a gateway to the Neptunia games). There's plenty of reasons I don't like it, but the story is the primary reason, being very butchered retellings of mk2/Victory while also focusing a bit too much on fan-service at many points throughout the anime. I was also not really that big on how the animation looked - just a lot of the times it gave me a bad vibe of "90's anime" while watching through it with modern quality standards. It felt...messy on more than one account. David Production in general is a company I'm mixed on when it comes to anime - I love what they did with JoJo & Planetarian, but I hate what they did with Neptunia. Overall, my own consensus would be to just skip out on the Nep anime, it's not really worth the attention in my opinion, but I do respect your point of view on it and even see where you're coming from a lot of the time, even if I myself don't really agree with it. It's always interesting seeing an opposite viewpoint to your own.

coming from someone who watched the anime without any knowledge of the games existence, IF and compa's existences made no sense until i played rebirth1, i spent half the time watching it wondering exactly why these randoms are casually hanging out with the cpus with absolutely no reason to justifiably be there to begin with apart from "they're friends for some reason" context was soarly lacking
