Ena (the rain) is the secret why Shinonome Dad can keep painting (initially want to stop) & unintentionally making him realize that he can't live without art, so he keep suffering to go on this path as an artist WHILE trying to protect his peony life as a human being.

He knows Ena’s dedication to art, he should’ve known that instead of insulting his daughter by calling her “talentless”, showing and guiding her through the miserable yet beautiful world of art would’ve helped her pave her among her insecurities and problems much easily. In trying to protect her by steering her off art, he has become the cause of the despair that he so desperately wanted to prevent. In this event, he has had only a little improvement, which is acknowledging and allowing her to take her path as an artist. I hope that in the later events, he will realize that his actions before had given Ena more pain than anything, and that he will change ways, beginning to support her. Most importantly, after knowing his mistake-I hope he apologizes to her. No matter what, the pain he gave her remains and cannot be wiped away, but apologizing can help build a new level of trust over that pain, which will serve as a foundation for the blooming of their relationship. Sorry for the rant lmao. I have daddy issues so I’m more sensitive to topics like this.
