In this video, I will be fixing vertical lines on a Gameboy DMG model. I will also be replacing the battery terminals and there is also a strange buzzing noise, do you know what it is?

Does anyone know what that buzzing noise is when I plugged in the power supply?

Great video! A quick research search and it looks like the buzzing noise is caused by a bridge between the power and audio? Not harmful but can be annoying. One guy said he fixed it simply by taking the cover off and compressed air the whole thing. *shrugs*. Keep fixing stuff Scott!

Thanks for the tip, I will give that a try. I am going to go back to this one as I don't want to sell it until I have sorted the problem. I have a feeling that it might be a capacitor, but what do it know 😂 Thanks for the support 👍

Cheers Will. I have not seen this repair on a gamegear. I will look for a video and check it out. Yes, need to be careful with the iron, I may have ruined a couple in the past 🤫😂

I have a dmg gameboy that has buzzing noises too. But it’s quiet and it buzzes during gameplay as well.

It is a very strange issue. Funny how your one is still buzzing during gameplay. I have a feeling it might be a bad capacitor on the power line, this sounds like the beginning of a follow-up video 😁

Great video, do you know of any methods for fixing horizontal lines?
@ScottFix

Thanks for the comment. Horizontal lines are a lot harder to resolve. I have ruined more gameboys than fixed so far 🤦‍♂️ I do have a gameboy that has horizontal lines, so I will do a video soon and see if I can fix it.

I have a PAP K3 Plus that is new and was working but now the power light stays on and nothing else happens. any ideas what I should look for? nothing on the board looks burnt

Unfortunately, I have never worked on one of these so I am not familiar with the circuit. Sorry I couldn't help but hope you get it resolved.

I’m not the most brilliant but I would assume the power brick is causing the audio trouble. The fact that the batteries don’t have that effect on the audio makes me believe that it’s the power supply that has the problem. You can test the output of it with that multimeter. I’d wager it would need to be recapped or verbally abused at the least… Thats my guess of guesses.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tested the power supply with another Gameboy and was not getting any buzzing, so the issue must be somewhere on the power circuit. Like you said, changing over some capacitors has to be the next step, if that fails then lots of verbal abuse 😂

@@ScottFix mmmyes let the verbal abuses flow.
