It's so funny to me how it feels like everyone had a GameCube while simultaneously nobody had a GameCube. Like, the console didn't sell very well, but the few people who bought it consider it one of the greatest consoles of all time

endless ocean was a wii game with dolphins on it, and nintendo published it, so they were in fact a partner. the leak is about endless ocean

This is something truly revolutionary if this happens. I never had a GameCube when I was growing up, so this will make it easier to access these older games.

Even if GC is added, I doubt we're getting Melee because we still don't have Smash 64 even after 2 years

If I recall correctly, Nintendo has been taking action to have GameCube emulators taken down. That alone made me suspect GameCube is coming to Switch Online.

Pyro even mentioned he wasn't excited about this direct to begin with. Mentioning the dolphin was kinda obvious it wasn't gamecube related. If he said he was excited, and the fact for it being a regular direct, then i can see it being a possibility. I don't think they would announce something like that in a partner direct, unless there were already gamecube games on switch like how n64 games got announced in the partner direct, since theres already n64 games on switch

I think it's not as likely as people think. I think this because of the success with more recent Gamecube remasters (Sunshine, Metroid Prime, Pikmin 1+2). These games sold pretty well, and I feel like Nintendo wouldn't put these games on NSO just like that. I could be wrong (and I would be 100% ecstatic to be proven wrong), but I feel like that's the most obvious solution business wise

Hate to break the news; but this is in refference to the port of a game called Endless Ocean comming to the Switch.

Even IF its gamecube, which they wouldn't reveal in a PARTNER showcase, keep in mind they have NOT released smash bros for N64 yet there. If they still havent released smash for N64 NSO, then its looking bleak for melee.

I swear if Mario Sunshine, Twilight Princess, and Melee arent on there i will legit cry... those were my favorite games.

They won’t add melee. But if they do, it’s 9 frames of delay, PAL ver, will have capture card blockers, and they added the X+A short hop lol

Side note, everyone please buy physical at least a little. I know it’s probably inevitable but I really think we should never lose the option to own physical media. That’s real ownership.

That explains it... I knew something bugged me when I saw a rumor of Paper Mario TTYD coming to the Switch... but if they are doing a NSO Gamecube... it may cost a bit more, but it seems to fit, although I question how that will work

Dolphin is the codename of the GameCube. Dolphin the emulator was named after this codename.

There's a leak apparently that red and blue are coming to NSO which is why GF is a partner. Also Coliseum and XD are being begged to put on NSO. Would love to see compatibility between those games and the gen 3 games (RSE/FRLG).

is this good? it sounds like a way of getting to a point to where slippi (probably a better connection source) gets outlawed and the melee players are left playing melee with as much lag as on brawl, smash4, and ultimate.....

I feel like NGC on NSO would have to be a “Download each game individually” thing cuz if the app had even 10 GC games, that’s a lot of space it’ll take up on games you might not play.

I always thought they’d announce GameCube to be added w the release of switch two. But I’m pumped if we get it earlier. Everyday it gets more worth it for me.

I do have a few theories about this whole thing, I don't think its going to be anything major like Gamecube NSO. Keep in mind that Pyoro did also state he's not that interested in what is happening for this direct. The Switch 2 is JUST around the corner, even if rumors and leaks are hard to believe, we DO have confirmation that companies have dev kits for the console, which Nintendo only typically allows within the 8 month range of announcing said console. When it comes to the 'Dolphin' hint, my mind goes towards the thought or a potential remake or remaster of a Gamecube game, like we got with Metroid Prime. Though potentially one either for a major 3rd party title on Gamecube OR handled by a 3rd party company. With the Pokemon stream coming less than a week after this, i think Game Freak may end up showing off a non-Pokemon title at the event, I feel like they're likely to save any Pokemon announcements for their own streams and instead will probably just announce a side project as a partner. I think with the next console coming, Nintendo is done announcing new major first party titles. I dont think the Switch is dead because i do believe it'll still have pretty constant 1st party support, but I think that everything Nintendo announced in the Mario direct is it for their plans for the Switch. It unfortunately makes little sense to make a Gamecube NSO just to release a new console within a year, the service would be dead on release unfortunately.

If they DO add GCN to NSO, I will scream. But, there are some games I'd want to see in the base lineup. They are: Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Super Smash Bros. Melee... I got nothin else.

They will not include any HD or remaster titles. It makes sense for them to repackage those as completely new versions like Metroid Prime Remastered which allowed them to charge nearly full price for the title. I prefer those remasters as the standard versions of the GameCube games have not aged well for the most part (obviously there are exceptions). Aside from Melee Remaster / HD which is highly unlikely to come, would like to see Soul Caliber 2, Animal Crossing, Zelda Windwaker (this should be a no brainer), Viewtiful Joe coming as remaster titles for Switch.

If Gamecube really is coming to Nintendo Switch that would be massive as there are still many great games that are still trapped on that system that have yet to be ported over and here are 3 games that come to mind and they are Fire Emblem Path of Radiance a very good game that a lot of people over looked. Skies of Arcadia a fantastic RPG that was originally on Dreamcast but did get ported to Gamecube maybe this is a chance for it to get out of port hell and finally an unknown gem called Eternal Darkness an absolutely fantastic horror game that was only released on the Gamecube back in 2002 and has never seen the light of day since then.

Dolphin turns out was a beautiful snorkeling game but unfortunately not Melee.
