Reminder that Gabe doesn't really choose the power. The powers simply manifest themselves based on the emotions of the person. That's why Gabriel specifically had to look for someone who wanted to take risks in "Risk" and didn't just akumatize some random sad guy.
I feel like it would’ve made more sense for Max to get akumatizted because he feels like the only reason Marinette joined was to play with Adrien (which is technically true). Or just have him be a true gamer and calling everyone who beats him a hacker. Marinette beat him last, making it where he can’t be in the tournament, so his main problem was with Marinette. Because with how it is, it just makes Max seem like a pathetic sore loser. Edit: wording
@@Bezaliel13 tho he would be more angry due to those injustices. And Gave still looks for injustices, take truth who got akumatized because Marinette kept lying to Luka. I’m saying it makes more sense as then he’s upset/angry he lost to something out of his control (Adrien guaranteed to be in the tournament, or because he lost to a hacker rather than someone better than him), then to have been akumatized because he’s a sore loser.
I get that max was being a sore loser but that was not the point. The point was Marinette didn't care about the tournament. She used it as an excuse to get close to adrien. That is what makes her in the wrong. The Scarlett lady comic did this episode way better.
@@adawnn8901 She has skills. I am not saying she doesn't or that she cheated. I bet she played the game way longer than max. But what I'm saying is that if Adrien was not a part of the tournament she wouldn't have bothered participating. Her main objective was getting close to Adrien everything else didn't matter to her.
Yeah, I never understood why people had a problem with what Marinette did to him. Sure, she only played because of Adrien, but Marinette beat Max fair and square, no cheating whatsoever. It more feels that Max was angry that Marinette beat him and threw a temper tantrum over it instead of accepting defeat
Highkey I can’t fault Chloe for getting akumatized because all she was trying to do was help Ladybug and ladybug denied it. Hell even Cat Noir told her what she did was wrong
@@Fireclaw5588 To be fair, Chloe is the reason why a bunch of people get akumatize and is known for being evil and a liar. I don’t really fault Marinette for that. If I was in her position, I won’t believe her either
Honestly i feel like the episode would've worked better if Marinette cheated during the tournament tryouts like having Tikki do something or something else to hang out with Adrien. But Marinette would've won regardless because its obvious that she's good at video games with how calm and collected she was during tryouts. Also, the episode showed that Max was using cheat codes with his glasses to win almost every round even though he supposed to have trained all year for the tournament. The episode would've work better for Max to realize not to be a sore loser, accept defeat and that even though you might train or study as hard as you can sometimes there are going to be people who will beat you or be better. Like I understand it was to show how Marinette is willing to give up something, has a big heart, not to take things away from people to get what she wants or how she apologized for everything even for stuff she didn't do but whatever. It's not my favorite episode of season because of this but it is enjoyable, especially the Adrienette moment with the lucky charm, their hands touching with the controllers, and Marinette reassuring Adrien he's a great player which is one of the first moments of vulnerability for Adrien in the show and how much he trust Marinette even back in season 1 when they're weren't that close yet.
I also feel like this episode makes Marinette seem like a Mary Sue. These epic gamer skills came out of nowhere. I can't remember any other episodes where her gamer side is shown except this one. Edit: I also can't remember any other episodes where Adrien's gamer side is shown either. But for real, the fact that Max trained all year and still lost is just tragic, and I feel his pain.
I have noticed that when max was playing the game he had codes like cheat codes on his glasses. It's a small detail I figured out. Also when Adrien beats max he is not mad but sad but when a girl beats him he gets passed off. Marinette have been playing this game with her parents alot
If I remember correctly it wouldn't even make sense for a single impromptu game to determine seats for this tournament anyways. Wouldn't they need an actual match best of 3 or 5. Max is...obviously a by the numbers player and is trash at creativity or meeting it head on. He's likely also bad at conditioning. If that's the case honestly he shouldn't even be training at this game because all fighting games need those basics. That said he likely can adapt in actual matches. One game isn't enough to decide who is better
Yeah I never really got why Tikki was scolding Marinette in this episode. Sure she might not have planned to be in the tournament before seeing Adrien was doing it, but it's not like she's pretending to like the game. Frankly this is probably her most normal attempt to spend time with Adrien, since she's just using a shared interest to connect with him. When they did eventually get together in season 5, one of the the things they did as a couple was play video games. I get Max was disappointed that he failed after spending so much time practicing, but failure is a part of life and Max should just accept that.
Everyone's saying that Mari beat a guy who had been training for a year - sad for him NOONE'S TALKING ABT HOW ?!?!?! how can you beat someone who's been intense training for a year OR how can you lose by two casual ppl after training for a year.......was it the same YT tutorial you watched on repeat ?!?!!?
You can train for a long time to get good at something, while others are just naturally gifted. There’s always going to be someone who’s better than you, and they may not need to try as hard as you to achieve that. Besides, we don’t know how long Mari has been playing the game. Maybe she’s been playing since she was 5 and that many hours, as casual as they may be, would have surpassed Max’s training.
Good Lord! I had completely forgotten this story, at the same time I think I have forgotten a lot of episodes since time I have the impression of having knowingly put aside certain elements of writing at the time, telling myself that it would get better with time... But I was wrong. 😑
The way hawkmoth akumatizes people for the dumbest reasons, a baby literally had a tantrum cus he didn’t get a loli, a guy wasn’t allowed to feed pigeons and got akumatized 50 times. Bro got beat at a video game and committed terrorism what a baby
I appreciated Gamer 2.0 more than Gamer. Gamer just wanted to level himself up, but 2.0 had an actual testable game! He wasn’t using cheat codes nor was he just a sore loser…
Gamer. An episode I wish had been recreated in season 5. Instead of bleh. Determination. Marinette is actually pretty sane and not creepy for once. Not to mention Adrienette was cute in this episode. Little did I know how much worse Adrienette would get.
It’s still so funny to hear everyone roast gabe for his smooth and shiny brain. Personally I would like to see a video dedicated to his smoothest brain moments
Ah, a Season 1 Retrospective Review Video, i were wondering what happened these. Anyway, I kind of liked this Episode, i liked the Street Fighter-like Fight at the end and i appreciate that you thought it was decent at least. I wonder what you’ll think of the Next One.
for some reason, i find it cute when ppl say that "I'm the first person to comment!!" "early!!" No offense..............its genuinely cute .............for some reason
I mean, yea, technically, she is better than Max and has a right to take his place in the team, but from a moral stand point, she did not even for a moment stop and think about the fact that he has been training for that for a whole year, that it is his big dream and means more for him than her ( she could easily invite Adrien to hang out together, if she wasn’t such a douchebag - I mean, there are a lot of other variants of spending time together with Adrien, besides this tournament)
@@Jay-fw6jo she destroyed him in game and then poked it in his face by dancing and stuff and all of that in front of their entire class, teacher, headmaster, so I kinda understand him. But the stuff about being “the chosen one” was cringe, yea
In kwami buster at the part where she gets the miraculous after losing tikki she puts on a headband but no kwami comes out and it only shows up in that episode please help me understand. Thanks 👍😊
