Hadn't heard of the "credit card trick" before. Just tried is on a couple of N64 games I got used and unboxed, and now, instead of being finicky and difficult, they start right up. Awesome, thank you!
I actually love when you buy old shit and they previous owners have written their name or passwords or something. Feels like someone really had it. I like the continuation.
Adam, you go through so many compressed air cans, you really ought to get one of those electric dusters. It'd probably save you a ton in the long run, and when I was cleaning a vacuum with a friend's I was convinced you could use that thing as a leaf blower on the top setting.
another excellent video, your cleanup videos are very thorough without being way too long. I always figured the strange way they packaged the cards was because they knew they'd make a cd peripheral and all the cases could match. But that's just my theory.
Wow i cant believe that i missed this. I'm usually pretty good at staying up to date on your videos. i feel bad so ill make sure to like and favorite this video haha any video you make deserves more than 1000 views!
WHAT A FIND! I got my TG16 from a garage sale. it was a TG16, Atari 2600 JR, and 26 Atari games for like 30 bucks i think. but those TG16 games are incredible!
I just used the yellow jack on a standard composite cable. At the other end I have an adapter that connects to RF jack on the back of the TV. This allows for a direct connection and less interference from RF boxes. The result is improved video quality. By RF standards anyway.
Cool video! When I was a kid, my brother traded our brand new SNES for TurboGrafx-16. I was pretty pissed at first; however, I got to experience another video game console, which wasn't too bad.
I didn't know we could do a such think. But this will help me a lot cause my LED TV with the RF connection doesn't allow me to hear the sound of the game, and the quality is really bad. Thanks for the Tip. ^^
I got myself the Turbo Booster for this system but when I put it on the AV channel I get a annoying static picture. Is the same signal I use for all my system and they work fine I just don't get why the TBGX-16 does that though I have a HD TV and a cablevision 1080 box
When you were replacing the screws in the bottom of your Turbografx16, you mentioned a hole in the center that you thought had no purpose. It is for the CDROM docking mechanism.
Hey Adam, not sure if you're aware of this, but if you're looking for A/V cables, there is a much cheaper alternate solution to the Turbo Booster/+, you can get A/V cables from Retro Game Cave, where you got your M1. I've been using them for a while now and yes it's a bit gimpy of a setup, but they work perfectly. Just thought I should mention it, even if you already know :)
Hey adam guess what speaking of RF and cable quality you could get a CoreGrafx II because it has composite out of the box! I have a CGII on its way and its pretty cool to not use RF and cheaper than a turbo booster!
My screen is showing a yellow, green, pink or blue(apparently random) when turned on. Any thoughts on what the issue may be? Anyone i might be able to contact if you dont know? Excellent video btw. The turbo switches on the controllers rocked for their shooter games(blazing lazers comes to mind, dragon spirit was another)
"Splatterhouse usually sells for 30 bucks" I fucking wish. Damn thing is like $90 now. I acquired JUST THE CONSOLE and Keith Courage for $30. no back cover, no RF, no controllers, nothing.
I don't own Splatterhouse but I plan on getting it sometime. They are very common, they are just a bit expensive. Splatterhouse 2-3 for the Sega Genesis are selling for well over $200 dollars now.
PS you can buy plastic casing covers for Turbo Grafx 16 everdrive on the internet. They make it look like an original gamecard in console & protect chipset from dust. They seem to be manufactured with 3D printers and come in the black/grey that you have, as well as white for PC engine
There something at the final of the video makes me curious.....on the RF port, did you insert an RGB cable and put the yellow on the RF port and it works? or did you just made some modifications on the RF entry?
have you found any deals like that in stores in canada? cause at this one place on lakeshore drive, in the west end of toronto, in like etobicoke, there is one little used book store that sells games, cds and movies also.but they have near retail prices!
hey adam when you buy one of there everdrives with a SD card package like im guessing you may have done does it already include the games preinstalled on the SD card or did you have to download them yourself.
Ever tried a dash board cleaner instead of Pledge furniture polish? Just thinking you may get even better, and longer lasting results, but it looked pretty good by the time you had finished with it. Cheers :)
That was well worth $30. I'm glad I got the one my dad had passed on to me which he did have the A/V attachment for it as well as the TurboPad AND the TurboStick game pad. Every game has its plastic sleeve and the only game missing its case and manual is World Court Tennis. List of games I have: The Hoop (2 copies) Keith Courage (2 copies) Time Cruise Alien Crush Victory Run King Of Casino Power Golf Jack Nicklaus Turbo Golf Drop Off Side Arms Sinistron Deep Blue TV Sports Football World Court Tennis Splatterhouse (favorite) China Warrior (favorite) Galaga '90 (favorite) Bonk's Adventure (favorite) The Legendary Axe (favorite) J.J. & Jeff (favorite) Pac Land (favorite)
Also have a 3rd party wireless joy pad controller. And a tip I would give to prevent dust from getting inside the console would be to keep a game card in the system when not in use.
It's my understanding that the system itself doesn't actually output RGB natively, much like the N64, and as such requires a hardware mod. It's basically a video amp built onto the board which will then allow you to output in RGB. I've looked into this in the past and there were a few people who were willing to do the mod, although there were issues with the gamma after the mod so I never bothered. Do let me know if this is false.
I just picked up a turbografx 16 today with all the hook ups, controller, bonk revenge and turbo booster from a thrift store...20 bucks. and it works. then I found this video. lol
+AdamKoralik thanks for the reply. I know, my town blows for games so I was shocked. FYI love your videos, they helped me fix my nes and other consoles, they are lifesaver's.
haven't had a chance yet. i got some more money but i had a preorder for Shin Megami Tensei IV, but EB Games is doing some contest with some prizes being an extra percentage off used games that is stackable with the edge card discount, so i went to town picking up a whole bunch of games and accessories, then i also saw pacific rim, spent 18$ on that ticket, then also went to the source and found the intec charging mat for controllers on clearance and i pretty much used up all my money
