Wifey got me one for xmas, can't wait! This is exactly the way I've been cleaning my retro consoles after finding them out in the wild. I think it's kinda fun cleaning and restoring an older, dirty console. Just seeing it work, shiny and clean, beneath your tv is gratifying :)

Adam, at the end of the video you said you didn't know if the system works, AFTER spending all that time cleaning it. Don't you think it would've been smart to test the system BEFORE spending time cleaning it?!

Do the top loader have the same design flaw as the early model SNES systems turning yellow?

i never had a top loader nes system before the pin connector is very different what type of connector is it because it looks like a super nintendo pin connector is that what they used for that system

Would security bits work for taking systems like that apart

I’ve been curious on buying this for awhile while I know it’s RF does the RF cable go into the ANT IN RF port on the TV or your cable box cuz I’m worried if it’ll work or not

Probably a stupid question, but if your breath damages the contacts, wouldn't Windex do it too? Or does it but at least it gets the dirt off?

How come with the nes top loader with some tvs you got to turn on the system before the tv to get a picture and sound or turn TV on first then turn system on flip the channels back and forth to get picture and sound? And will Mr clean eraser make the system white again? And mines got a crack in the plastic what do I use to fill in the crack? Sorry for asking alot

I forgot to ask a ? But I got a game genie and I can't find the adapter online but I have to force it in the top loader and I take it out very slowly after using it but when I go to force it in and take it out slowly will it still damage the connector over time? And if it does do I keep using game genie to make it stay working?

Awesome pickup Adam. I think the top loader looks pretty slick. I kinda like it better than the original nes. Plus you can do a AV mod to the top loader to get a more cleaner signal if you have the soldering skills.

Hey I have a dreamcast that is not reading any games it just refuses to load them. Is there a way to fix that? I tried the little diod thing with pliers but I think I might have damaged it when trying to turn it. Any ideas?

I understand not to blow into cartridges. But will it work if you used compressed air to blow into it.

Adam, you should really do a cleaning video on the Sega CD (Preferably the Model 2). I'm most likely getting one for Christmas, with a few bonuses. Once I get it, I plan to clean it out sometime after I play it. + Good cleaning videos. I like them before I watch them. :-)

It's mind-boggling in the case of the NES. The Famicom's 1993 update ADDED composite AV out, while the NES's update took it away!

What is the best solution to avoid the RF Video quality on the top loader?

Does the Top Loader use the same cables and power supply as the first NES?

I used to swear by the whole blowing into the cart thing up until I recently managed to get another SNES. Now that I'm a little more tech savvy I just realized the only reason it really works is that you're reseating the cart, just pulling the game out and reseating it once or twice seems to do the trick as long as the contacts are clean in the first place. The blowing in the cart thing is probably just something someone came up with by chance or did it to trick owners into reseating the cart.

I got a new question to ask. But before I ask. I went ahead and bought a hyperkin nes retron 1. Reason I bought it was to make my nes and nes top loader as collectables and didn't want them to break down on me cause there expensive to get repaired or rebuy them. It works with all my games and orginal nes block controllers. My ? Is how do I clean it and clean the pin connector can you make a video about it sometime?

You should get your hands on a AV Famicom and do a cleaning and restoring video.

and the thing that covers the cartridge slot is called a dust cover, which ironically doesn't actually prevent dust from getting into the system.

One other cleaning tip I would recommend is to spray some Windex into a paper towel and run it up and down the controller cord. Those things are usually caked with dirt.

Thanks. Sega CD Model 2 is easy. Just open it up, there isn't much inside. Standard procedure, clean the insides and the plastic, then clean the laser.

You could speed it up by using a towel and compressed air, but air drying is just more thorough.

It's probably totally burned out, you'll probably need to replace the laser entirely. Which tends to be more trouble than it's worth.

Yes, q-tips and Windex will work on GBA cartridges.

The Top Loader doesn't have a 10 NES chip, Nintendo never included them.

You'd have to mod it to get composite. I might send it to my friend Raymond to do that.

My av is messed up only works like 20 percent of time and I cleaned the heck out of it at suggestions? Also my parents got it for me when I was 5 so sentimental

I've heard this for Tri-Wing and Torx 4 and other rare screwheads, but it's very disposable.
