You know you're a pretty broken person when your own shadow, the embodiment of your repressed emotions, is trying to bring you out of suicidal depression.
If the Shadow is the hidden self, then that means Futaba knows she is being lied to, her surface self has accepted the lie and is being pushed towards suicide... her Shadow is trying to make her fight back.
@@ryan1000011 Probably because the only way Cognition!Futaba could confront her was for her to enter her own Palace a la Persona 4. However, given that the Phantom Thieves haven't (yet) been read into the previous Shadow incidents by the Kirijo group, the idea of a person entering their own Palace would seem absurd (which is why Morgana freaks out when it happens).
The actual reason for the tentacles is because the ship, her Persona, is named after a fictional book (The Necronomicon) that was created by HP Lovecraft. AKA the guy who thought up Cthulhu, the ultimate tentacle monster.
Technically all Personas are Shadows which the user has accepted and uses P4 showed it thd most obviously but if you could see inside the cognitive world of every persona user when they awakened you'd see their Shadow becoming their Persona. Also on a somewhat related note it is technically possible for a Persona to revert back into a Shadow if the user get fucked up enough according to P4au.
Hentia jokes aside I love how in P5 they stretched what we consider a Persona is. We have a Motorcycle and a UFO, one being ridden and the other one being able to hold the user within. I don't think any other Persona game did anything like this.
I love how the story is so twisted almost everyone playing gets distracted and completely misses the fact that Futaba's mom was typically researching the Metaverse, cognitions and similar things.
@@MichaelGonzales-mu4ph that could also work. I was mostly going by the trope they were showed with. Mitsuru, Yukiko, and Haru being the rich girls and all.
Futaba is the only member that have difference awakening song and even her shadown showed itself to her and she had to accept the truth, just like all Persona 4 casts. This is a nice nod to old game. I like it a lot.
@@kalamitinoiz9251 Yes and double yes. According to the P5 wiki page for Necronomicon, the tentacles were intended to reference Cthulu. (Get yo' minds outta the gutter, people! They were only made to help the tractor beam!)
If your mad about the ones who hurt futaba like this clap your hands👏👏 If your mad about who did this clap your hands 👏👏 If you wanna mess them up and this makes you really upset If you wanna mess them up clap your hands👏👏
I want to give my opinion about Futaba. Futaba is, in my opinion, the best character in this game along with Ann and Akechi. I gave my opinion on Akechi on the gamers react to Akechi black mask video and have my Ann opinion on gamers reacts to Anns awakening video (if I haven't already). Futaba is connected to the story in not just having a palace, but her mom being connected to Shido in someway. Her story is the saddest one that this game had for characters, having someone committing suicide and not surviving along with the effects it had on her family relationships. Both her and Sojiro's confidants expand on this subject in more detail. She hid away from everything, having her main contact being Sojiro and probably online (this isn't confirmed, I just assume this because of her being the original Medjed) and not having to see a doctor once she had these hallucinations. Futaba started to gain suicidal thoughts and PTSD because of her family rejecting her, mistreating her and all the voices she would hear along with the people she saw. The moment she figured out the truth, she used her rage to give her the strength to help the Phantom Thieves beat her cognitive mother. I loved this story, it's one of the stories that made me cry my eyes out. Now, to add to this is something I found out from an interview with Erica Lindbeck that Futaba is autistic. Don't know if it's true, please correct me if I'm wrong. Having suicidal thoughts, PTSD, visual & auditory hallucinations, anxiety and autism can be hard on a person. What I'm glad is that Futaba afterwards can look at the world in a different perspective. Also, Necronomicon's tentacles... At first I thought what everyone was thinking until I heard about it being something relating to Cthulu, I could be wrong. But other than that, I love Necronomicon. Necronomicon was the only one of the Phantom Thieve's personas names I recognized.
Great breakdown of your girl. On the subject of the tentacles, it's likely because of the Necronomicon's namesake; a cursed book bound in human flesh, hidden in the university library's deepest reaches, containing forbidden knowledge on the Great Old Ones and the rituals to invoke them. Plus, as another commenter mentions, she's a shut-in Internet-dwelling gamer. She's bound to at least know about tentacles.
Yup, Futaba is bae and must be protected...She must be avenged as well. I am SO looking forward to any payback on them in her social link! Also, everyone is surprised her ship has tentacles? She is a hacker, an internet loving shut in and a huge gamer. I would be surprised if she DIDN'T know about hentai or tentacles. Though if she's into them or not is a different story... I guess we can only wait and see?
@@jamesburlingame2689 Exactly. Alot of people dont read the small lore the Persona carries. Futabas Persona is the Necronomicon. It represents forbidden knowledge and wisdom. Which fits into her role as " The Hacker " because she is skilled into gathering information that you woulnd´t be able to attain by normal means.
To all the people freaking out about the tentacles: Her Persona, the spaceship, is named Necronomicon. It gets its name from the fictional book of the same title created by HP Lovecraft for his Lovecraftian Mythos. AKA the same mythos that the granddaddy of all tentacle monsters, Cthulhu, comes from.
Sofaris Oh, so do I; it’s just that in Japan “Tentacle Porn” unfortunately does exist, so since Persona was made in Japan, that’s the first thing some people think of. Add on to that the fact that Futaba is very clearly underage, and... *that’s* why people freak out.
Ryuji's face tho "Holy eff' I've seen enough Hentai to know where this is going." But that has to be one of the most badass frames before the battle starts! With almost all the thieves united!
Honestly, this was the best palace for me. Futaba has had such a tragic life, and the palace doesn't stem from her sick desires but from her undeserved trauma.
The last dude: I hope morgana doesn’t get kicked from the party this time Morgana: doesn’t get kicked from the party but still gets shafted by futaba taking his role as navigator away
I'm surprised sojiro never appeared in the palace. it would have been awesome for a cognitive version of him to show up and help out at the boss. so many egyptian myths they could have used too, like a golem, or even a giant version of anubis.
"We arnt doing shit to it." Its so funny considering that I totatly dominate the fight before Futaba shows up. That thing would be dead before she shows up if not fore plot armor.
Kinda like how the Jock boss in Bully isn’t invincible at all during his fight, he just has a shit load of health before you take out his teammates a third time?
I like how some of them are saying that the adults need to die, and one wants to become a anti-hero to do it, also nico said demon power again like when joker awoke
First time I saw this scene I cried after "No mysteries. No illusions shall deceive you any longer" because after what she's been through, this is honestly the best power she could've ever wished for.
you wanna know what i just realized futaba and kotoko utsugi have the same VA they both also don’t like adults they’re also teens and they’re both adorable
The Necromonica, the Persona based on J.P Lovecraft's book with the same name that contains the hidden knowledge of the world. Who knew it was a UFO but I guess you could say that the Necromonica was a strange and mysterious book.
It’s sort of interesting how Futaba’s awakening doesn’t have the Awakening theme, but has Blooming Villain, the palace boss theme. In the same way that her palace has kind of a Persona 4 self-discovery vibe, the use of the dungeon boss’s theme reminds me of I’ll Face Myself from P4.
The way I see it there's really only one way people can feel about this one and that's livid anger followed by at least mild unease when the tentacles show up
@@LunaryonSunborn He's many things. Some call him a meme factory, some call him crazy. How ever, to me, he'll always be a humble water filter salesman.
There's actually a fan theory that I've seen that could actually explain precisely *why* Shido went to so much trouble to mess with Futaba's cognition in such a cruel manner, since as things stand, it doesn't really make much sense why he would target Futaba of all people when she had no known connection to him whatsoever. For one thing, Futaba has a very rare blood type, AB+, which she actually shares with just *one* other character in the game (a point that I will get to shortly). Secondly, Sojiro mentioned that Wakaba never talked about Futaba's father, but he also reveals that back when Wakaba was still alive, Shido was one of Sojiro's colleagues (giving Shido one route of contact with Wakaba). Considering the fact that Shido has extensive knowledge about the Metaverse, there is a high chance that he obtained that knowledge from Wakaba herself....and that Shido may in fact be Futaba's biological father (which could help explain Shido's attempts to specifically target and break Futaba). And Wakaba would have known too much about the Metaverse for Shido to allow her to live unless Wakaba were one of his loyal followers (which, considering the fact that Shido ultimately had Wakaba killed is extremely unlikely). And now to get back to my earlier comment about Futaba's rare blood type being shared by just one other character. The character in question who shares Futaba's blood type? That would be none other than *Akechi* himself, who likewise has a very similar backstory to Futaba's, where Akechi's mother also killed herself out of "shame" for having a child out of wedlock (but in all likelihood, she was instead "disposed of" in the exact same manner as Wakaba). And if that is true, that would mean that Futaba is Akechi's half-sister! And all of those little details actually make a lot of sense when put together like this. This may just be a fan theory, but there are too many "coincidental" and "convenient" connections for me to not believe that those connections were intentional. So, I am personally inclined to believe that this particular theory is correct.
I saw that part when Raritydash played this, I really thought it was set up too. She is a sympathetic character. SIC I wanted to see them fall. This was deep as f**k.
Shadow Futaba and Necronomicon are the same thing since personas are merely the user's tamed shadow, Futaba's persona carried out an entire conversation with her and already convinced her of the truth
Wow. The Musical Gamer really went all in on this huh? But this is more than fine. It's how he really feels for a child being abused with her dead mother as the tool for it. Everyone would naturally feel this way
@@arturoaguilar6002 But we can't say for sure has the time be defined of when she died because all I know is they said someone killed her for her research and the only ik who knows of her research is shido
