I still don't know how we went from "handsome quiet (s)assmaster tries to live an honest life" to "Satan shoots God in the face to save the world and Christmas." This game was a trip.

So here's a "bad" summary of the finales of Persona 3 to 5: P3: Saved the world by turning into a giant cosmic door. P4: It was basically a divorced couple argument that was settled. P5: Saved the world by using Satan to shoot God in the face during Christmas Eve.

On paper, a summary of this game would sound absolutely ridiculous. Kid saves woman from being abducted by a politician, accidentally goes into a separate dimension, meets a monster cat, get fricking Stands, then they beat up their gym teacher from the inside to "Change his Heart", then a money hungry, self centred artist, then a mafia boss, then a 15 year old hacker who inadvertently starts a worldwide hacktivist group who then get hacked back and inevitably destroyed, then they proceed to fix the guy who owns the place where we get our *Guts* up, then the guy who has been talking trash about us kills him from the inside, then we go after our -best waifu's- team-mate's sister, then the kid gets arrested, then shot dead but it turns out he didn't die, then we go after the politician who started all of this, but he commits temporary suicide, and when he confesses no-one cares because his, former, peers didn't want to be poors, then we try to kill a big cup, then reality becomes disappointing, as it often does, then we try to kill god but it didn't work (honey 'cos) we had a whole lot, going on and on and on, then Satan shoots God in the head, saves Christmas, and then we wave Sayonara to our Harem (you did try for all the love interests right?) and bye to our bros, and that's Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 5 Nocturne.

Just remembered The last skill we use on The God of Control "Sinful Bullet" it is made out of the Seven deadly sins and we went through Palaces reprsenting each sin Lust - Kamoshida's Palace And so on and so forth With Shido's Palace being Pride All through out the Journey we where taking the Sin's Treasure and at the Fight of Yaldebalth we use a Bullet forged out of the Palaces which is basically why the Palace crumbles to nothing once we defeated them cause Joker literally took in the Sin

Every time I see this scene, I still get chills. From the awakening of Satanel to Joker saying "Pillage him, SATANEL!!". This scene is very satisfying and really good.

This finale is perfect. Like, no joke, I think this finale is perfect. EDIT: Before I continue, there are spoilers for P4 and some mild spoilers for P3 in here, so if you don't know the story of those games, please watch a let's play or play them yourself. I don't wanna lessen the impact of their twists for anyone. Persona 5 managed to do what Persona 4 tried: having the antagonist keep an eye on you at all times. In Persona 4, when you realize it was the gas station attendant, you're like "...huh". You don't really give her importance until then, so the twist seems kinda sudden. I still haven't finished Persona 3. I'm 4 days away from the Promised Day, but its connection is better than P4's. All the Shadows being part of Death/Nyx is a cool idea, but I think P3 suffers from not explaining or giving the player many hints towards its main plot points. I still like the story, but there are many things that could and should be fleshed out... EDIT: after finishing P3, I liked it a lot. Nyx's part in the story is really well set-up, though my point of fleshing out still stands. In Persona 5, we have the player knowledge that Igor's voice is different and we find it weird. He keeps appearances for the most time, but he slips out some weird sentences from time to time, which makes us doubt him (and I bet Ren would also keep these little moments in his mind). After a LOT of time, we lose and Yaldabaoth truly reveals himself to us, so confident in his choice that he invites us to join him. We refuse and reunite the team for a final battle. We climb up the fusion of Shibuya and Mementos and fight against the god with no support; The Phantom Thieves vs Yaldabaoth. We wear him down, but he's still too strong. Then, after a call of hope from Morgana and Mishima, the Phantom Thieves are not alone anymore. It's now Humanity vs. Yaldabaoth. And Humanity is represented by the god who was punished for having free will: Satanael. And how does Yaldabaoth meet his end? With a hyper powerful beam of energy? With a crazy attack? No. He dies by a bullet to the face. The tyranny ends with a single shot. Perfection.

theres a ton of interpretations. satanael betrayed yaldaboath because the goddess Sophia gave him knowledge the yaldaboath was not the true god. in others, he was the father of the world but could not give life, so asked for yaldaboath help, who took away humanity from him, leading him to rampage. in another version, he is the other half of yaldaboath, but instead of order and control, he is freedom and chaos. the commiter of the first and ultimate sin. his name has a few interpretations (Depending on how you read it). being either "Adversary of God" or "Hero of God"

I hate to ruin the 69 comments (nice), but some context for NicoB: That whole LP (as well as several other LPs outside the Persona franchise), he jokes about summoning "ultimate demon power". And then he literally summons ultimate demon power at the end of the game. (I think that's the phrase he used; it's been a while since I watched that LP. If it wasn't that, it was something very similar.)

No joke, I literally just finished my first playthrough of this game and then I found this in my RU-vid feed during the credits. This game is an absolute joy to play. I’m starting NG+ and can’t wait for Persona 5 Royal as well.

I can't tell what's better, when the chorus of "Our Beginning" plays as you gather people's wishes or right after you select Sinful Shell. Definitely the former tho.

SMT's relationship with mythology and religion has always been a huge part of why I enjoy it and the Persona series so much. It's less Good vs. Evil, more like Order vs. Chaos, in such as too much of either is a bad thing, there as to be a balance. Too much Chaos, well, pure anarchy, too much Order, everything stagnates and eventually dies. Even the evil that was done by those who were puppets to the Holy Grail/Yaldabaoth was done in the name of Order, as it led to the people wishing for a singular, controlling authority, which resulted in Yaldabaoth. In the originals, it was YHWH and Lucifer who represented the two sides, and the lines blurred most of the time. YHWH was basically the purest definition of a control freak and Lucifer was, well, Lucifer, but neither of them was purely good or evil, it was up to the player to decide which side was preferable or out right reject both. Though Lucifer comes across as more caring for humanity in his own way, YHWH less so. Thing is, SMT makes on thing clear: Yes, Lucifer was responsible for the whole Tree of Knowledge mess and as such, he is the root of all Evil, but at the same time, he is also the root of all GOOD, as Good and Evil are human concepts, not those of the Divine/Infernal. This game culminating in two of the foremost figures in Gnosticism facing each other, and even in the roles they have in the religion, Yaldabaoth being the false God and Stanael being basically the protector of humanity, just gives me goosebumps. And in Royal, you face Adam Kadmon form the Kabbalah, basically the Perfect Prototype of all humans created before Adam and Eve, a pure divine construct, untainted by earthly matter, unlike Adam, who was created from clay. Can't wait to see what they've planned for P6...
