Synopsis
The games industry is highly competative and the skills needed to be successful can also be used in other sectors. This talk explores transferable skills and the link between the games industry and a whole range of future careers that are XR related and do not exist yet.

Gareth has worked on games related projects for many years, starting with modifications before working professionally as a games designer. This experience and working self employed led Gareth to end with working in Higher Education.
Some of the more popular gaming modifications that Gareth has been involved in include Classic Doom 3, Project Borealis, Hidden: Source and Hexen: Edge of Chaos.
He is now a Senior Lecturer and PhD candidate at Canterbury Christ Church University in the UK, researching how VR and gaming related technologies can be used to support collaboration and new product innovations.
