About Age of Sigmar:
Warhammer Age of Sigmar is more than a game - it’s a hobby. Build armies of plastic warriors, paint your models, and take them to the tabletop to play fast-paced games and tell your own stories within the Mortal Realms.

I didn't talk about this in the video, but this might make it easier to bring dwarves into my Cities of Sigmar army IF subfaction rules are changing and I can just bring a single dwarf regiment in easily. How cool would that be!

The battle formation change is my favorite thing. I hated how only a handful of actual factions were represented on the tabletop. Tzeentch's uncountable cults all got reduced to Guild of Summoners in a variety of colors.

Good point, I hadn't considered factions with many subfactions and how that gets represented.

I have to say I love this new Regiment system! I have some concerns with it, but on the whole, I think this is an *excellent* change. Because it's a very elegant way of solving the "one drop" issue. Because now you're encouraged to include different units through the regiments of each hero, most armies can't fit their whole list into a single regiment without making some *deeply* sub-optimal listbuilding choices. Which I like personally. There's still an element of "racing to the bottom" to keep drops low, but now armies that want to play Hero-Hammer like Nighthaunt can still compete in that space without gimping themselves to force everything into one Battle Regiment. My only major concern comes with auxiliary units. Getting an extra CP every round sounds like a *MASSIVE* advantage, so while I get that GW's intent here was to make an incentive that discouraged people from taking "oops all auxiliaries" as a way of circumventing the listbuilding restrictions that Regiments impose, I worry it might be too string of an incentive to the point we don't see any auxiliaries get taken outside very niche circumstances. And on another point, I don't mind "battle formations" replacing the old "subfactions." I think it's just GW's way of letting people express themselves more in their paint schemes, without the concern of being "lore compliant. " One example might be your Cities, it seems you went for a Hammerhal Aqsha like scheme, which is incongruous to the schemes of every other City with a subfaction in the lore, but with Battle Formations, there is no incongruity, your guys are from your City, and the Battle Formation just reflects how *they* fight, weather that's shooting, cavalry or magic(just to name some existing gameplay incentives in Cities right now).

I'm slowly coming around on the battle formations thing!

That's my concern as well. It seems the reward for "fewer" aux units just means no one will use them, which would make for LESS freedom in list building, not more. That's my major holdout right now. Other than that, it sounds interesting. Provided I don't have to buy an entire new army because the hero's I have don't have the correct keywords or some such lol.

@@williamrussell-fu4to Yeah that will be a big moment, when we find out what units are easy to bring. I'm sure we'll get some reddit posts that will be like "I have to bring THIS HERO now?!?!" 🤣🤣

As a new player, I really like the regiment system. I plan on playing as Lumineth and it gives me a really solid and easy to follow collecting order. I also wonder if the regiment system will provide a more balanced play experience at lower point levels. Make an escalation league/ map game easier to play.

Good point about lower point levels, I hadn't considered that!

I assume Allies will become Regiments of Renown. They said Auxiliary units must be from your faction

Whoops I missed that bit about aux units being from your faction. Good to know.

Great video! It’s easier for me to ingest through a presentation like this instead of the article. With absolute deference and respect to how emotional this hobby can be, and how connected we feel to our models and factions, I’m having a really hard time understanding people absolutely losing their minds over the “retired” models and new battle formations. It’s a fun hobby. You can do whatever you like, regardless of whatever James Workshop says. Again, people can feel what they feels. It’s fine and I don’t want to be dismissive. I just don’t get it.

Appreciate the comment! I understand where you're coming from, I kind of feel the same way but I also realize how invested people can get in their armies and how expensive it is to get the new books, models, etc for each new line they launch. A lot of the stormcast and skaven models will be usable still but they will have new models for those that want them. The one thing I don't see a lot of people talking about is that these models are getting 4th Edition rules and will be supported until 2025. That's a significant amount of time IMO.

Heroes can be a regiment by themselves. But being limited to only 5, can a hero be an aux unit? I don't want to have to cut my heroes down from six to five. I'm kind of attached to the little buggers.

I'm assuming you can bring heros as aux, but of course then you are paying the aux tax with each one :)
