Love this model! Built mine the other day. I want to get a second to build with alternate arms. Think I might just glue the couple extra arms on random spots. Love the creepy way it makes it look.
Yeah, I don't think the arms really matter where they end up. I'm eager to get another one myself, but I need to finish up my cavalry and the big bad general still...
At first, I thought this thing looked stupid and cartoony from the pictures on the GW site. After looking at this though.. I take it back, it looks badass.
Two sprues for $50 is super steep. The quality is top-notch but I think GW is pricing a lot of us out. Its too bad because this would be a great model for a lot of systems (I was thinking Frostgrave). I'll stick to the used market for now...
Absolutely agree. I picked up most of this range just trading in stuff I wasn't using or ever going to finish. I wouldn't be eager to put that kind of money down these days that GW is asking. Which is a bit of a shame. They keep putting out cool stuff but they continue to try and price everyone out of it.
Gator naturally. Almost finished painting it even. Probably will need another. They seem like decent units in AoS. Somehow they have a ranged "Death's Maw" attack, can hit pretty decent, can take a few hits and have so-so armor, but they're healing and reanimating units is pretty awesome.
I don't think it'll be too bad actually. There's open access to a lot of those parts, and since about 92% of this thing is shades of bone, it's nothing a few washes won't help pick out. Gimme a few days, I promise I'll get it done to show you all!
I'm hoping we'll see something even larger down the line for the Ossiarchs. Why build little people sized skeleton robots when you can build crazy stuff like this?
I usually stay away from GW models, unless I see a great Ebay deal that I can make an offer on. I don't understand GW's pricing and consumer-target. They don't want younger (14-25) customers, they can't purchase these at a whim. I see the pre-order sets are $400-$700+ for a complete game set of Necromunda... that's insane. They need to make cheaper sets to target younger buyers and sure, make the detailed sets for the more established players out there that can afford it.
I'm with you 100%. They're chasing the wrong crowd. That new Necromunda said is so *not* what this hobby needs. Outside of the odd release now and then I don't see myself hanging around the GW pasture for much longer.
There are ways to get around GW atrocious pricing. Buying and selling GW starter boxes on ebay is a safest bet that i am currently doing. I basically got a Ossiarch Bonereapers army for free by buying and selling Feast of Bones boxes.
@@adahepper2665 yeah, but like I said... the kid who's 14 wanting to buy in with his/her paper-route money... it ain't going to happen. Just a handful of units is $50-$70, and usually this would be through a local store. Curbs the fresh new faces in the gaming pool, the game will die out unless this is catering to the children of Millionaires.
@@28mmRPG I think it is cheaper to pick up cocaine as a hobby than starting up with brand new GW products. That said i also started up with warhammer when i was a kid and i had very little money and still managed to acquire a lot of models by buying used models on internet and few times got lucky at flea markets. So even kids today can with ease start this hobby if you are smart and get models from 3rd party sources.
I think Underworlds is pretty reasonably priced, considering how much an average Magic deck is in comparison to what a warband box comes with. I think some of the games they've been selling at book stores here in the States are also a step in the right direction and the prices are more in line with the competition. I think in terms of easy and economical start ups Frostgrave is probably one of the cheaper systems. If you split a box of wizards and soldiers with an opponent you're out about 30 bucks or so but have everything you need for a crew. Grab a bunch of cardboard boxes like we used to do for terrain and you're good! WarCry and Necromunda could have gone a similar route but it's easier gouging a crowd they know are willing to pay their absurd prices.
I'm sure it's going to see a lot more usage in other games in our house than AoS too. We're quite fond of Ganesha Games' rules, especially they're Song of Blades & Heroes.
the thing is the only bit that says he needs to be in AoS is his rules and pointss but beside that you could use it for other horror/gothic styled games. hell if you run an old tombkings army he would just sit there in the background. i think its a beauitful boney boi and i need him
You could probably leave off the hands and the head. It'd probably just look like a fancy groin guard in that case. The part he attaches to helps keep the torso together, so yeah, you'd need to at least use some of those parts.
