Thank you for this. I'd put off painting my GS for almost 6 months and you got me started, which I very uc appreciate. Went my own way in the end but would not have even begun without most of your tutorial, so my sincere cheers!

I am stunned :O ! I subscribed half way through the video. You are an INCREDIBLE miniature painter, kudos to you man ! If I may, I have 2 questions to be asked : 1) Would you please make a tutorial for seraphon units? Preferably Carnosaur and maybe Slann? I am a beginner and although I am trying various techniques, I have a very long way to go, and it is always more understandable when working on the same miniature ! 2) Could you please make a "Back to the basics" video that you explain while showing how to properly water down your paints? I know it is all about experimenting but I ve been painting for 3months now and I 'm still getting pretty much the exact waterish or too thick result, although I am trying to water more or less. Congrats once again for your painting skills ! Way to go man

Very well made tutorial. I like how you actually show you applying the brush to the mini and we can see how you applied it but didn't show the entire brushing so as not to bore us and keep it shorter. Great job. Now I feel I might actually be able to paint my mini now.

Great miniature you painted there! I especially like the feathers and the fleshy part on the staff, they look awesome. Only on the blue cloak looks a bit messy, some more blendig there would be nice. Keep painting, great stuff :)

Hello, I'd like to question: how did you reach the back of the feathers for painting? I am sitting here with my glue asking me if I should assemble all parts or do certain parts single... Thanks for an answer.

You could probably follow the similar steps that I employed for painting this guys armor for classic blue Skink skin.

I tried to do my best following this tutorial - I struggled a bit with the blue/gray tones on armour plates and the skin. I tried to make the robe similar to yours, but then I decided to go a bit further and extend the gradient int purble/almost black range... (to cover the mistakes I did while trying to do the nice - bright gray -> dark blue gradient haha). Regardless of my mistakes - your tutorial is absolutely great. I would love to see you painting The Stardrake ! :) Here is my completed Gaunt: www.flickr.com/photos/gumochlon/42352832110/in/dateposted-public/

Love the tutorial, but unfortunately GW discontinued Guilliman Blue, do you have any suggestions on what to use instead?
@PeteTheWargamer

You could try out the new Ultramarines Blue Contrast paint thinned out with some Contrast Medium. That should give you a similar result.

Sometimes the text on the colour (top left) is difficult to read, maybe outline the text to make it more visible? other then that, lovely tutorial and amazing production!
@PeteTheWargamer

Is it the lighter colours that are trickier to see?

The War Gamer yeah, especially the light grey one was hard to see.

Nicely done. But - chest, shoulder pads, head, and neck are all of the same biomass like material, not gold, but more like a biological growth

Im not entirely sure you understand the differences between glazing and washing =/ Lahmia medium's properties are completely different to that of water, and the results will be quite variable because of it. For example you were using glaze mediums as "washes," and to obtain your "red hue" you were using a shade/wash that was watered down. In basic theory, it would have been a million times more effective using the medium types in the reverse way you so did. Im not trying to degrade you or pick on you etc, i completely understand that you and many others are happy with the outcome of the miniatures and video's, however i just wanted to point this out so that viewers don't get confused as to the principles behind what the citadel paints are designed to achieve. I am only saying this from a learning point of view.
@PeteTheWargamer
@PeteTheWargamer 8 лет назад
I'm not quite sure what you're trying to explain but my understanding has always been that a Washes cover a surface and pool into recesses, whereas Glazes evenly cover the entire surface. You can create glazes from regular paints by uses mediums such as lahmian medium, which are essentially pigment-less paints. This is demonstrated at several points in the video. At the points in the video that I believe you are referring to I recommend using lahmian medium in a wash. This is in order to thin the wash down so it's not as intense, the intention isn't to create a glaze and I am still using it as a wash. I suggest using water instead and this can have the similar effect of thinning down washes, again not glazes.
