I still have my 5850, an ssd, quad core phenom 2 and 8gb ram are cheap upgrades that make a great pc. I've a 1050 ti in mine and it can play anything thrown at it in high settings. They're small, quiet and easy to take apart. Hack out the front fan shroud behind the front panel, tape over the cpu air flow tunnel (there's a small hole, you'll see what I mean) and remove the rear pci slot covers for better airflow. If you find a good low profile cpu cooler that fits let me know :) This pc will last you forever :)
i have the microtower variant but the interns are the same. i had the same problem with the cpu, but ince i updated the bios it was fine. so it's very much possible to upgrade.
Hello, i got a question, ive got the exact same pc, with the only difference being an hd 7470 as gpu and 8gb of RAM, the current cpu is a Phemon X3 8600b, and i was wondering if i could change it to a Phenom II 1035t, is it possible?
i have this pc but mine is a AMD Phenom II X4 955 processor 3.20 GHz but it gets really hot, CPU temp is 65c when in use for example running youtube vids in 1080p it does sometimes reach 70c and its not exactly dusty or clogged up because i clean it once per month so is there any chance that i can change the fan settings to higher fan speed or not to make it cooler? i need to buy a new pc really but a gaming one.
Hi dudes. Does anyone have experience with fitting MSI GT710 in this machine? On the internet, half of the people I've seen on forums are saying that 710 won't work because DC5850 is legacy BIOS only, while GT710 is UEFI only. Thanks.
I got a Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB 128Bit GDDR5 for a hp compaq dc5800 with a core 2 quad q6600 that can be overclocked by a gain of 24% by covering one or two pins. What do you think too ambitious for this rig? I looked it up and it said this was probably max with the cpu and power supply which is a 250 watt. I also popped in 8 gb over 4 sticks hyper x ram. Crossing my fingers it boots and works decent. I also downgraded to win 7 as the nvidia card I have in it now didn't work with 8.1
Hi, did you still use the original power supply unit? I think mine's showing some strange problem, the fan of the PSU recently runs at full speed for unknown reason, I don't think there's anything overheated, but when this occurs, it means the system is about to crash. Any way to fix this PSU other than replacing one? My DC5850 still runs original AthlonX2 5000B CPU, I only change the display card to GT1030, and add a Audigy FX soundcard, I only one hard drive installed, rest components are original, I think.
Could you please share motherboard original name and its revision? If AIDA or SPU-Z do not detect original producer, there are HP label glued and producer marking in the area of video slot. (I am going to follow your steps but I heard that not all MB make possible such upgrade). Thank you in advance.
@@jeck6604 Where the hell did you read that, the 5850 was made in 2009 and with the latest bios does not have problem with 95W AM3/AM2 processors, meaning you need a Phenom II X4 like a 910, 925, 945, 810, etc
@@marrieddyke I can’t right now to give the source but it was mentioned one MB which depending of revision version could or could not support Phenom II X4 even after BIOS update. So I have MSI MS-7500 rev.1.1 and before purchasing CPU would like to compare with your MB. I know that this upgrade is possible on MSI MS-7093 (3029H) but looking for proves for my MB.
@@jesuscruz7797 thoroughly competent computer, fast under Linux on an SSD but not really game ready. Under Windows(puke) it'd probably scrape by okay on the newest games, your Sekiros and stuff.
hey there, do you happen to have the original CD recovery that came with the computer? i got the same model and i have lost the disc, maybe you can create an ISO image of the disc and upload it to google drive thanks
I have this motherboard with intel 2 duo with gtx 720 with 4g ram... This build is great for playing mobile game using x86 android os likes prime os and phoenix os... Well not too shabby its cool for my younger brother enjoying play pubg mobile... Hahhahaha nice review btw
2:57 *System BIOS: 786F6 v03.14* Mine is still v01.09 from 2008. How did you do this update? I've just look in the HP official site but didn't find anything related to that.
If you are talking about overclocking your CPU, I doubt you can do it in this system. I played around with the BIOS on mine, and saw no overclocking options. For the Graphics Card, I would have to say a GT1030 or GTX1050
@@tobystech8346 thank you so much. I'm going to the market to buy it 😊 thumb's up for you and I've subscribed you. I will suggest your channel to my friends to find some helpful content from Toby's tech😍
With the 780V northbridge chipset this board is technically an am2+ So it can use am2/am2+ and am3 chips up to 95 watt tdp. I have one as a media pc in my living room it's running the phenom II x6 1035t with 16gb amd only high density ram and an rx460 2gb. It's a little beast of a machine.

@@rogernevez5187 My experience with the DC7800 (or so) version will ramp up its fans, when the CPU reaches toasty temperatures. I think the 5850 will aswell.
2:57 *DIMM2 5248 MB / DIMM4 5248 MB* Is this some kind of bug of the BIOS ??? There are no RAM module size of 5248 MB. Moreover, the total memory size doesn't match with the sum of the individual parts.
my computer hp it has a nvidia geforce gt 710, 4gb ram, 250gb, and processor amd athlon x2 5000b I can rotate, max payne 3, unreal, warface, fornite and I even use it to edit video with sony vegas pro 13, photosop.
