I've actually gotten upset for winning at RPS on some games. I'll sometimes go on less serious servers, accidentally dominate someone, and want to break the domination through RPS. I had one time it took over 10 tries for it to finally work
Super Smash Bros. Melee (2001) has Luigi’s taunt. It does 1% damage - but if it’s used on an opponent hanging on the ledge, it will spike them downward for a potential instant kill. They can avoid dying if they know what they’re doing, but still, I’d say that counts as an earlier example of a taunt kill, albeit in a different genre. I wonder if there are earlier examples. Surely one of those weird 90s fighting games has something. (Smash 64 doesn’t count. In that game Luigi already had a damaging taunt, but it couldn’t spike.)
Luigi's taunt is a close 2nd place for the greatest taunt of all time. Maybe I should make a video on that one too 🔥I couldn't find any other taunt kill examples, although if I looked harder I may be able to dig something up
The two closest things I can think of for other killing taunts (at least for platform fighters) are Kazuya having one of their older Tekken combos as a side taunt, and Hugh Neutron having the Chun-Li super if you do a full circle motion before taunting.
Yeah I was surprised it wasn't mentioned, there's something really entertaining about volunteering to put your life in the hands of a 50/50 chance to get past a trap
When i played Tf2 the taunt kills were easily one of the best parts of the game for me, i should get back into it. Very well done video man, underrated as hell
Even when I’m in a bad mood from being dominated, if Rock, Paper, Scissors is offered, my mood goes from “I want that man to get what they deserve” to “Oh. Let us play :)”
The best part about killing/getting killed by RPS is when someone laughs and kills themselves, starting an entire killbind chain reaction between every player in a 20m radius.
one time i was playing turtlengi (like always) on 2fort (of course) when a heavy decides to visit me, but refuses to go further than the slope from spawn (my sentry was on top of the hpack) so he challanges me to a rock paper scissors duel. he wins, destroyes my sentry and proceeds to take the intel, then i respawn, catch him at the slope area and duel again. this time i win and the intel is saved. one of the best player interractions i've had
Truly one of the best things about tf2, the whole scenario is perfect it gets even better when your opponent suddenly pulls out one of the dance taunts instead, especially the kazotsky kick and slowly dance away in hopes you won't kill them
Much appreciated man! 🔥The algorithm really helped this video a ton, I can't complain haha :) I'll be making more videos like it so hopefully they're just as good and can act to help boost the others!
My usage of the taunt is primarily to get me out of an awkward situation... Just vibing alone, healing on this medpack, then like an enemy or two approach me, not attacking, just watching me.... I feel uncomf, I dunno what to do, I don't wanna fight them, they ain't hurting me.... So luck it is then...
2:02 an important detail here: killing with the ubersaw taunt actually only gives 75% uber the other 25% is gained when you manage to skewer/stun someone before the actual kill just like the huntsman
Just gotta say, your editing style and voicing are amazing! I wanted to check out more of your stuff only to then notice most of your vids are only in the triple digits. It's down right CRIMINAL how underrated your channel is. I think your game Dev videos are of a similar quality, it's just of a more niche genre. Best of luck with wherever you take your content!
Thanks so much man, it means a ton!! I'm probably gonna be sticking with this style of video more, there's definitely a bigger audience for it AND it's easier to make, so it's kind of a no-brainer for me. Hope you stick around to see what's next!
Since some people here are discussing unique types of taunts in video games, I want to bring up a type of taunt that ( to my knowledge) Only appears in one game of a big franchise, that being Battlefield Hardline’s “spotting taunts” It’s unique in that it only appears in that game of the battlefield franchise (probably because it was considered the least battlefield-like battlefield game, BEFORE 2042 existed, and thus not many were fans of it, or even wanted to play it) and it’s method of preforming the taunt is unlike any seen before (or since for that matter, again, to my knowledge anyways) it occurs when you preform the spot action on an enemy at close range, normally your class would just call out the enemy to their team, but in close range, they will instead directly speak to the enemy and say one of their team specific sets of voice lines that is a taunts/threat (the criminal team) or an professional, by the books, attempt at making a suspect give up and peacefully go into custody (which never works, this is an online video game after all. Also this is specific to the officer team, in case you didn’t learn your context clues in the third grade and thus couldn’t tell.) it’s self explanatorily great since the battlefield games don’t have a method of taunting in game (aside from the “in every online video game that has a crouch button” taunt of teabaging) so adding a non intrusive method of taunting your opponent by doing an action you regularly do in game is ingenious and unique in that it is a way to verbally insult an enemy with an in game voiceline BEFORE a they have died by your hands. Shame it hasn’t reappeared since, It added a nice amount of charm to the game.
Well, in TF2, if you use the "Battle Cry" voice command while aiming at an enemy, your mercenary will either insult or threaten them, with each one of the nine classes having their own set of insults. Normally, this command simply makes your mercenary do what it says, but this detail with its usage is nice. I'm glad to hear of other games including stuff like this as well.
@@TheDragShot also another neat thing about the “spotting taunts” is that sometimes when a member of the criminal team preforms a spotting taunt, they will flip off the officer, which can also be seen in the first person view Yea I kinda forgot about that, but it isn’t too alike the “spotting taunt” so I guess my point still stands…
It requires to have your melee out for the battle cry taunt to work. It’s a shame they didn’t implement class to class interactions as a concept, because heavy has specific ones against engineer.
No matter how desperate i am, how good of a streak im getting, or how pissed off i am, im always taking up the offer of RPS and respectfully going with what i get
For the longest time, I thought that rock paper scissors killing whoever lost was a plugin of community servers. When I died to it in casual, I was like _"what"_
Scout enthusiast here: sexiest taunt kill is the Homerun one. Something about the way Scout moves, the mock salute, the windup, and the crowd cheer put a smile on my face every time. Why does the Boston Basher not have this function?!
fun fact about the pickaxe taunt kill it apparently counts as a midair kill. Got the soldier achievement by doing that in a middle of 5 friendly hoovies that just took it like champs
my ever first accidental taunt kill was when i taunted as heavy in the 2fort sewers, AND A RANDOM HEAVY WITH HATS COMES BY, he didnt even see me *and i taunt him from behind*
@@HeyGrouch I’ve watched some of your other videos and man your production value and scripting is top notch across the board. You’ve got a talent here that I can only dream of.
@@MarioLuigi0404 I appreciate it :) This isn't my first channel, just the first one that has any amount of success haha. I'm sure with practice you'll be able to make stuff just like this!
Lucas has a secret taunt in super smash brothers project M where he will do a dance from his game that lasts a full 30 second's, and at the end he kills everyone on screen
People would take 1v1 melee fights in this game while nobody interferes and just stand in a circle and just watch . People who play this game have honor
Fun fact! Tf2's rock paper scissors taunt does not actually draw upon rng for its outcome! As it looks for what weapon you are holding (primary, secondary, melee) and I think it will only resort to rng in the case of identical active weapon slots on both players. Even then, It's still probably not random! Even
if this was in anyother game it would be one of the worst taunts cuz no one want to play silly and will get killed 0-%of the time but in the funny game tf2 its art
I first learnt of tauntkills in... Street fighter 3. Someone killed me with Ken with what looked like him saying "get serious". Suffice to say, that kicked off me playing the game religiously, which made me improve immensely. Whoever that person was, thank you for letting me bully my little sister via command grabs lmao
i remember one time where i was taking on the entire team on 2fort and won 9 times in a row. i was starting to think it was rigged in my favor, and they thought i was hacking (probably jokingly) but after round 10, i was finally defeated. that was the greatest few minutes of my life
Super Smash Bros Melee also had one taunt kill Luigi's taunt has a little very delayed kick. You can use it on a ledge to kick someone into the abyss as they grab onto it
in league of legends there now is a champion, samira, that can deal damage with her taunt. She throws a coin at the enemy, which iirc gibes them 1 gold. But with items and runes that deal extra damage when a spell hits, it deals damage.
i think my favorite usage of rps is when i'm in a 1-on-1 gunfight with someone and neither of us can hit our shots so i just say fuck it and challenge em to rps so we settle it in a more guaranteed way
4:35 bro I sarcastically said "die" in my head because I hate cheesy outros, and then the actual video said "DIE." I could not have been less prepared for that
rock paper scissors may be the worse strategic option to take if your enemy offers it mid fight; but its the more fun one; so i will basically always take it unless its too late; i dont realise theyre doing it; or its like a really really close game on the final point or something
Sometimes I'll just go sticky jumper demo and jump to the enemy battlements on 2fort for a rock paper scissors taunt game. Bonus points if your stuck in the contractor pose while doing rock paper scissors, it looks like you playing a mobile game with someone lmao.
medic fact: the medic's taunt kill doesn't actually fill your bar all the way. what happens is that the stun counts as 1 bar if your using vac medic. getting the kill with out stunning only gives 3 bars (or 75% full) meaning you need to land your stun to completely fill your bar(s)
@@HeyGrouch yeah, i found out by trying to kill people without stunning them. another fact, snipers huntsman taunt kill stuns players longer then medics taunt kill.
