Just a quick apology in regards to the black borders around the footage I've got no idea why it has come out this way. Rest assured however we're diligently tracking down the video editor and he will be brought to justice.

I had the Gamo Urban, same plataform but made in U.K. Very good rifle for the cost, I was using the JSB 18.13 grains, Gamo Pro hunter and Crossman Domed and they gave me good groupings. Hi from México.

Thanks for the review. I bought my Phox about a year ago and I’m very pleased with it. Mods I’ve made include replacing the supplied scope with a MTC Mamba Lite on a medium 1 piece Sportsmatch mount, Hawke bipod, adjusted the trigger, including fitting a longer (8mm) second stage screw, sling studs, foam comb raiser and will fit a Bisley adjustable butt pad when it arrives. I also intend to try a 10mm trigger screw as I’m still not happy as it is. The gun arrived with Rifle Premium Diablo pellets which I have found suit the gun and after trying a few others I’ve found JSB Exact Jumbo Heavies work well as do JSB Hades.

Hi Christopher. They're a sweet little rifle which is why I couldn't resist reviewing it. The trigger is the only real weak point of the rifle but it's far from the worst. Thankfully they're easy to modify as you've discovered yourself. It's a fantastic little hunter and will embarrass many down range.

Don't know how I missed this on. Great video mate, agree with everything you say. I've got one and it's become my go to field rifle. So much so parted company with a BSA over this one. It's as accurate as anything out there. Light, robust and a joy to shoot. Also it take the knocks and scrapes very well.

A nice review to watch while pumping up my Rotex and resting inbetween :) Interestingly it's the only channel to get information about Rifle ammo in English. I discovered Rifle Round Premium last year and haven't looked back. It's absolutely on par with H&N FTT for instance, being a lot cheaper. And all my three guns eat it without any problems. Maybe you can one day give a longer overview about different types of Rifle ammo?

I have one from new they came with a fixed moderator which this gun has had it removed and a end piece fitted as the end is a odd shape as it retains the fixed mod. I also removed mine and have had some issues with the adapter getting it centred I have overcome this with a few o rings and that fixed the problem the Gamo phox was built by B>S>A. a interesting note is that the new BSA defiant has the same breach and magazine mechanisms ,the magazines are the same across the Gamo and BSA range. If you want a BSA to drag through the mud (as this is what I use it for not wanting the laminated defiant getting dirty) I can recommend this gun it has been used well in the wet and in the field with the only fault being the fill port that died but a easy fix.

@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 2 года назад
Hi Mark! Haha it's really not too bad actually. The Phox has a smaller cylinder so pumping would only take a few minutes although if you were using it as a range rifle/target gun it'd probably get a bit tedious after a while. That being said if you fitted a regulator to it however...... ;)
@stevewilliams2895
@stevewilliams2895 Год назад
the key is you gotta use your whole body to pump it. when i started i was just using my arms and my god the shoulder pain. after a day or so i realised if you do a sort of squatting motion and drive it down with your body weight,without leaning over the pump or torqing it, just keeping yourself inline with the pump, you can get it pumped up in a little under 3 mins. its tiring, sure, but i rarely fire more than 100 pellets per day so its definitely fine for my uses. as dan said if you were wanting to put a whole tin of pellets through it your whole body would be sore by the end of it

MK1 Phox's don't have a threaded barrel, that's an adapter the owner has added. MK1's have a silencer that is held on by pins that need a punch to remove. I have one and to be fair the factory silencer is fine. I get a lot more than 50 shots on a fill though, maybe this one needs a service? Cracking review again.

The new Spitfires are genuinely not a bad pellet at all are they? I've had quite a few customers telling me how they actually outshoot some of the big brands depending on the rifle. This little Phox definitely liked them! I have to get the NP02 reviewed hopefully fairly soon as it's an interesting little rifle and a bit underlooked to be honest. Loving your videos Dan. They've been a great help. Looking to get into air rifle shooting and after watching your videos I have narrowed it down to this one and the Artemis M16 package. Both cost £500. I'm leaning towards the M16. Which one would you go for?
@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 2 года назад
Hey Easy! Thanks for the kind comment and I'm glad the videos are helping that's exactly what I love to hear. Out of the two the M16 will give you more shots and has the superior trigger, accuracy wise the they'll both stack pellets one on top of the other but the Phox is definitely less pellet fussy. The later Phox's also come with 1/2UNF threaded barrels whereas the M16 still uses a metric thread (daft) so you'll struggle to get a silencer to fit without an adaptor. The standard silencer isn't bad... but an aftermaket silencer (HW/Stumpy/Kral) will be much better. If you're getting a rifle for target shooting I'd probably go for the M16, for hunting it's the Phox for me. It's a bit more compact, likes most pellets and the fact you can silence it properly is a massive plus. The Phox mags are also better. Thanks Easy and sorry for the long response.

They're a great little gun aren't they? I'm testing a tin of .177 Hades now in a few other rifles but I'm not having much success with them if I'm honest at least not on the same level as AA/JSB Exact etc. The Phox really is one of those rifles that you instantly regret selling. Thanks for the comment!

this is similar to the gamo coyote and the gauge is not in the ideal place, but if you make sure the safety is on and she's not cocked then it's safe and when checking the fill pressure, you don't really have to have your finger on the trigger my Coyote gets around 30 shots per fill(200 bar down to 100 bar) but mine is also the full 33ft/lb version, i live in holland, so no power limit or FAC licence required

Hi Jason! Have you tried tightening up the barrel band or is it wobbling in the breech? Some guns do have some barrel flex (Artemis M16/AAS410) but as long as it isn't severe it shouldn't affect the accuracy too much. If it's loose from the breech end try tightening up the grub screws holding the barrel in place. Thanks Jason and I hope this helps.

Your royal highness. Considering the budget and the fact it sounds like you're after a hunter I very highly recommend the Kral NP02 or the Kral Puncher. Both rifles come with Turkish Walnut stocks and within that budget we could have you kitted out with a scope and silencer so you're ready to rock and roll. They use a sidelever action instead of a scope is the only downside. If you wanted to go the bolt route it may be worth looking at some of Gamo's offerings or the Artemis M11/M22/M25. I hope this pleases you m'lord, if you'd like any more info get in touch with us at www.bigdansairguns.co.uk. Cheers!

@@bigdansairguns83 Thank you my good man. Your response is most pleasing. I shall speak with my secretary about bestowing you with a knighthood. I was considering the M11, It's a lovely looking rifle plus I do love a good bolt action and your review of it really drew me in. However the chronograph results did concern me a little. As you said they are a bit picky with their pellets. I'm relatively new to the Air Rifle scene (Owned a Spring action for many years but never really got into it until now) and wasn't sure if the M11 would be the right choice for taking out Rabbits. I may be wrong though (and please correct me If I am). As for the M22 I wasn't too keen on the integrated suppressor since I like the modularity but from what I've seen it does have a solid performance.

Hi Jony! For me personally I'd go Phox.. The Airacobra is fantastic and would probably make a more user friendly target rifle due to the larger air capacity but for a hunting rifle the Phox to me was a bit less pellet fussy and the standard trigger on the Airacobra is awful. That being said.... out of the Phox and a Kral Puncher I'd chose the Kral. It has the best trigger of the three, a walnut stock, power adjuster and is laser accurate to go with it.

Please do this gun justice with a revisited fair weather accuracy test, Dan! And, would you also try to shoot it standing, while reloading from the aimed position ? Or is the bolt so stiff as to force you taking the gun from the shoulder for every shot ? MANY THX !
@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 2 года назад
Hey Hendrick! I know it's frustrating but considering the time limits we had with the rifle we had to film it whenever we could. If we can we'll get another Phox in and see if we can shoot it in a face off against some other guns. The reason I was lowering the gun for each shot was because I was worried that using the bolt while aiming might jerk the camera out of line and if I had to keep resetting the camera it might look a bit suspicious like I was cheating with the grouping.

SORRY YOU ARE REVIEWING THE GAMO MK2

i know the gauge positioned under the barrel isn't ideal but if you use some common sense and make sure that the rifle has no mag in it and is on safe then you should be ok

Why compare it's handling to a P15? For under £30 you can get a 3d printed adjustable butt pad that adds plenty to the length of pull, the P15 is also regulated, has a Titanium cylinder and is capable of over 100 shots per fill, costs less new, weighs less and will print sub 5p groups all day long. Cannot understand singing the praises of these horrid Spanish puff guns. Chinesium? might be worth mentioning that Artemis are the largest manufacturer of Air Rifles in the world.

Calm down Chris. I actually really like the P-15 and have already reviewed one. The rifle isn't designed for a bigger chap but as you state they'll stack pellets very well. The main downside with the P-15 is its ergonomics and its baffled shroud which is mediocre at best. In regards to pricing the Phox used to be around £500 with a scope, slip, pump etc. The P-15's go for £470+ alone. My Chinesium comment was tongue in cheek due to how light the P-15 is, this was not a dig at Artemis. if you watch my other videos you'll see that I'm very impressed by the Chinese rifles and I usually use the Artemis M16 as the benchmark budget rifle. In regards to your Spanish puff rifle comment have you shot/stripped one? The Gamo's are actually very well made rifles and are far more BSA than Gamo (they even use BSA's cold hammer forged barrel and share a ton in common with the BSA Buccaneer). With both rifles pitted against each other I'd personally take the Phox but only because it fits me better. Accuracy wise they'll both stack pellets and you're correct that the P-15 is lighter... but it's also more expensive and far worse ergonomically along with being a bit bland looking. Sorry for the massive comment but this needed clearing up. Cheers!

@@bigdansairguns83 P15 under £400 + noise is caused by the shroud end cap being large enough to clear the .25 version, AirFective do a calibre specific mod for £15 that almost silences the gun, love the channel m8.

@@chrisjohn4101 Hey Chris. They're a great little gun the P-15. I'm on the Artemis owner's group on Facebook and some of the modifications/upgrades you can get for them is excellent. I still believe that the Artemis tuning community is the best on the planet as you can really turn those little rifles into giant killers! Cheers mate!
