Terry, thank you for subscribing. The majority of my rifles I have are break-barrels and I will feature all of them at some point. Stay tuned, I try to release a new video every Friday.
Wes I bought my new Benjamin maximus for 200$ .177 and with a jsb 13.43 monsters and getting 30 shots and at 22 fpe from my gun 1 inch group at 90 yard's have a wonderful day GOD bless
@@lcjohn51 this baby can kill a little more than just rats. 28 FPE will take a hog or a coyote at 25 yards with a humane head shot. I wouldn't recommend or condone it though.
Your channel was recommended from a friend. Thank you for your no B.S. review... With what's happened today I will be ordering this. Looks like an awesome backyard "tool"... I watched all your GAMO reviews... Well done sir...
I got the magnum without the 10 shot magazine it came with a much better scope very happy with the gun I have 4 gamo rifles and the magazines don't like loading a few of the heavy pellets however they have great power and accuracy nice guns
Thank you for a good review on the Swarm Magnum. You are the first person to review it that actually shot accurately with it. Some reviewers I think don't know how to zero it or shoot it.
You gave me all the information that I want to know about this air rifle and you used my favorite pellets also!! Excellent video, you just earned a sub.👍😎👍
I have both the swarm maxxim and the swarm magnum. Depending on what pellet you run you can get about 19 fpe from the maxim and 31fpe from the magnum. As far as scopes go I have blown through about 10 different scopes with the magnum. This includes Athlon, Luepold, Vortex, SWFA, and Discovery scopes. So I decided to invest in 2 of those zero recoil mounts and BINGO!!! No more blown out scopes. Only took me a year to find out lol. Anyways, good review on one of my favorite bb air rifles.
I've had this gun for 5 months. I upgraded the scope to a Hammers - Air Gun Rifle Scope 3-9x40AO Magnum. Since then my shots have been at a consistent dead center at 25 yards. My backyard is only so big, so that's where I have it sighted. That's using Crosman Premier .22 cal Domed Ultra Magnum 14.3 gr. pellets. I also have heavier grained Gamo pellets that perform just as well at the same distance. Note: I took a robin on the very top branch of a tree at 98.7 yds. (I used my range finder). Thought I missed it until it dropped. I qualified Expert in the army with an M16-A1 with open sights, but that was 33 years ago. My eyesight isn't nearly as good as it once was (I wear glasses now). This gun is just that good. It has a LOT of power for a break barrel, and doesn't break the bank. It does take about 200 shots for the 60 lb pull to settle down. At first I didn't think I'd be able to cock it. Once it breaks in, it's awesome.
The pellet that I am using for the Gamo Swarm Magnum is H&N FTT 14.66gr....head size 5.55mm of which I have no problems loading a pellet into the mag....I replaced the 6mm screw of the second stage with a 8mm screw that I screwed in all the way...I now have a much shorter second stage pull....This is a very powerful rifle
Happy New Year John...Wingman here. Love the side mounted bipod that I purchased on your advice from your website. Mounting was quite easy and the results were way beyond my expectations. Groupings you could cover with a quarter at 35-40 yards on my Gamo Magnum. Will be adding pods to my Sig ASP. Have a safe, healthy and prosperous new year.
Yeah I just got this gun and its wicked..anyone looking for power and accuracy this gas magnum has it..like he said cocking it is a workout..specially new out of the box..if anyone wants to know H&N crow magnums,Baracuda hunter extreme, Gamo Red fires and Crosman hollow point 14.3..these all shot really well with my particular rifle..and actually 4 or 5 more still weren't bad but they performed the best..if you thinking about getting it Amazon has a good price on it now..thanks for the detailed video.i think I'll invest in your optic set up..the recoil is tremendous..this is like my 7th Gamo..I love them all..although after firing this the others feel like peashooters..do you have the whisper fusion mach one..22 cal..its a real nice gun also..got some power to it.. .
I bought 1 when first came out $350. I love it. I can plink a 18 x 18 window at 160yrds. Hit 18 times out of 20 shots, factory scope. I got about 5 different pellets. I forgot which one is the best. But it depends on the distance. 43yrds it love the cheap crossman
@@AirgunDetectives I got another scope that came in a package deal from Airgun Depot. What is that shock scope rail & where did U find it? I barely shoot it now in the alley. People was taking my targets & dumping trash where I keep it clean to shoot at safely with dirt hill back stop
Good content m8. I’ve been thinking about getting that rifle, I like the idea of the 10 shot magazine but I do love my Diana 350 NTec, that rifle is a real tack driver. Eat what you shoot doesn’t apply to the rats 🐀 I was shooting the other day but the odd bunny 🐰 now and again is all good for the dinner table
1:16 You said it was a non-adjustable objective, but I have the same gamo and can adjust mine. It's on the opposite side and have to unscrew the stopper before adjusting it, then you screw the stopper back in and boom!
Like your channel and I subscribed 💚 I own about 15 break barrels and this rifle is the king of cocking effort💙 not difficult for me because I take regular trips to the gym but I would say at least 60 lbs. And this is my favorite 😍
Don't think the Gamo Swarm Magnum is 60lbs of cocking effort, the Gamo Magnum 22 is 49lbs clocked in by Kenny Kormandy, in time after shooting so many pellets down the barrel of the Gamo Swarm Magnum it gets abit easier, after that it feels like 35lbs. The most accurate pellet it likes is Air Arms 16gr
I shoot with a gsmp swarm maxim .22 customized stock. And trigger work... I do a lot of pest control... I don't eat house sparrows, or rock chucks...lol.. but I do cook squirrels, pigeon breasts, and rabbit... I do a lot of custom work on Gamos for my friends.. I l9ve the JSB Hades 15.89 grain. As well as there 18.1 grain ... I have several Gamo guns, as well as a couple PCP.. each had it benefits, likes, dislikes.. nice video by the way..Good luck shooting with it... 😉
Hey great videos I'm new to air guns and I just bought my firs gamo swarm magnum gen 2 thanks to your videos I really appreciate it. I got 2 questions what scope do you recommend? And what non-lead pellet do you recommend also I'm pretty good with my rifle but I want a better scope for turkey hunting (I eat everything I kill)
Last week my shots were all over the place I figured it was the baffle , I took off the round plastic piece at the end of the barrel, I pulled out the baffle it was broken into two pieces so the pellet was hitting the baffle then exited out of the end of the barrel, I left it out my shots were spot on, this also happened to someone else that made a comment on Amazon about the Gamo Swarm Magnum. I might purchase a suppressor and put it on I can't see putting another baffle that is cheap looking not much to it
That can happen, the pellets were hitting the plastic baffle. Remember Gamo has a 5 year warranty on that model. Not sure if they can send you a new piece or they may want the rifle. I would call Gamo.
Great video with lots of information about this gun so it will be my next one to buy, as for the recoil reducing mounts yes i bought one too. I dont know but it works well for me but is it worth 60 bucks i dont know. I found one at half the price same design but it came to me all wanky crooked but i got it fixed up i had to loosen the rail screws and kinda twist it back to level so its good now it seems to be the same mount but without the branding name on it but anyway i like it.
what scope can I get that will hold up long term.i can handle the cocking effort as I'm a fairly strong guy.i just dont want to waste my time with crap scopes
i have 2 gamo rifles, both 22, the original magnum and the swarm maxxim, i have the hatsan carnivore 30 cal and a weihrauch hw50s in 22,, my next rifle will be the weihrauch 95l in 22
Hi , im from italy and congrats for your videos , very nice. Please can i ask you what is the transfer port size in millimeters for this gun ? Thanks tuo very much
That is strange...the 14.66 go in real easy in my magazines. I did have some issues when I first got the gun with the magazines in that there was not enough spring tension on them. I very carefully removed the small Phillips screw and put a couple of more turns on the spring. They have been flawless ever since. But I did not have an issue with the FTT 14.66 seating. My Maxim loves the Benjamin Destroyers .22 but I need a pellet seater with those...
@@zome53 These are the Dome H&N Field Target Trophy 14.66 gr 5.53 per my Digital Caliper. I tried several cans they are all the same. I purchased these over a year ago. Are your pellets newer? Maybe a different lot?
Those are the same pellets I feed my Swarm Maxim. Good pellets. I need to research that bullseye mount... that doesn’t offset your scope when it moves like that? Would you put the bullseye on all your break barrels?
The ones out there are not very good. The Bullseye mounts are just ok. I hope to have my own new design recoil mount out sometime next year. Still in the R&D stages.
Nice review, thanks for the information. I just got into break barrel airguns, and i heard you say never pull the trigger without a pellet in the barrel. I did not know that, and have cleaned the barrel two or three times and dry fired it. Could I have damaged the gun??
That is a general rule and it should not hurt the rifle if it unintentionally happen a few times. Gamo claims there rifles can be dry fired. The reason it could do damage is break barrels use a piston to create air pressure in the chamber. When the rifle is cock the piston is pushed backwards toward the trigger and catches on the sear. The spring or gas piston is fully compressed. Once you pull the trigger the sear is released and the piston is violently thrown forward into the air chamber which creates the high pressure. The pressure builds within a fraction of a second and forces the pellet out of the barrel. If you dry fire the rifle there is no pellet to create that back pressure and the piston impacts much harder into the front of the air chamber. That all being said I had a Gamo 220 hunter, spring piston and I dry fired that many times with no issues. I just wouldn't make a habit out of it because it could do some potential harm or cause the piston seal to wear out prematurely. Thanks for watching!
My ruger air magnum will run with that but its so heavy. like you say hunting only. We shot in garage sunday night my grandson must have shot 250 rds magnum. My box says 1000 FPS I started it on the 22 gr meisterkugens or whatever. Just guessing Id say was throwing those 22s about 725 I like what you said about dont shoot anything unless your gonna eat it. Except snakes I use shotgun if posum comes up. we live in country and no its now what its cracked up to be. Bought my ruger air magnum thru amazon took 3 before I got good one. All 3 were blistering past sound barrier. Shooting about 300 ft Your videos come on like Terminator 2 !!!!!!!
Has there been a hint on what Gamo has new for 2021...is there going to be another upgrade on the Gamo Swarm Magnum maybe a Gen3... 25 caliber would be wonderful?
I wouldn't expect much. Covid-19 has the companies working at a pretty slow pace. I haven't heard much and shotshow 2021 is canceled so there is no sneak preview.
@@AirgunDetectives It is not a cold virus that considers our free market business "non-essential". That attack on our free market comes from the ideologies of marxism.
Hey what scope do you think would go best with this gamo swarm magnum. I do have the zr 1bullseye mount already just trying to get advice on a decent scope that's AO. And thanks for the great videos.
Maybe a Hawke? That's what I'm getting. I currently run a Zerotech Thrive which is nice for the money, but don't do what I did and run it on a Gamo magnum with no ZR mount. It nearly destroyed the scope but I took it off in time and had to remove the zoom ring and tighten the screws that hold the eye bell on because it was wobbling. The scope walked back in the Sportsmatch rings, and the stop pin deformed and rode up over the stop pin hole and munched the scope rail. ZR mount is the only solution that actually works with these magnum springers.
Not bad at all kinda like that rifle. I use my rifles as hunters. Power and accuracy are #1. That rifle showed both. 👍👍 and that's coming from a pre charged rifle guy.
Great review, thank you! Sorry for the question-the difference between a shrouded and unshrouded barrel is? I do not have anyone local that carries these so I will have to know what to order.
I get a little better muzzle velocity out of the old version prior to the swarm and the suppressor. I think both of those decrease output slightly. I have got better then 1600 fps with the .177 model shooting Red Rockets on the original Magnum.
I really think it depends on the specific rifle and how smooth the air chamber is as well as the piston seal. I have tuned several and seen an increase in velocity on most. It sounds like you got a good one!👍
Technique is key. You get used to it and it feels like nothing. Don't use the scope without that Diana mount. You'll be lucky of you get through two cans of pellets before the scope is completely trashed.
I really appreciate your multiple tests regarding this gun. Maybe add a dB test as well. Anyway, I was wondering if you could make any recommendation(s) on multi shot break barrel .22s other than this guy. I'd primarily be hunting with it, and I also value a gun that is NOT hold sensitive. Right now, this guy is at the top of the list, but I'm open to suggestions. Thanks again, just subbed!
Very nice gamo, I had the first model, it’s fun to shoot but I give away, that’s was my first air rifle I brought... but I’m all acuracy .. lol... I move up to and brought HW 97... it’s a blast.. as distance 20 yds... I literally punch 10 shots in a dime.. all the time... but yes it’s a lot more $$ compare to gamo...
trying to decide between this, the fusion gen 2, and maxxim. First air rifle for me and only intend to use for target practice up to 100 yards max. Your advice is appreciated. Thanks for the great video!
I have the most fun, especially for plinking and target practice with the Maxxim Swarm, if you like a magazine. They are really east to cock 27-30 lbs. They shoot realistically 700 fps with a 14.0 gr pellet. The .177 are good with a heavy pellets but it's much more practical to go with the .22 caliber. I will be releasing a video on the Bone Collector Swarm soon. Basically the key for ultimate accuracy on the Gamos is the upgraded trigger screw and bipods.👍
I will do a ballistic and FPE comparison between the 135 and the Gamo magnum. They are both really good for hunting. I do like the Gamo 10 shot magazine and it weighs less. But you get a beautiful walnut stock and adjustable check rest with the 135. You can't go wrong either way.
What are the best pellets for penetration in the Gamo Magnum? Will it fit the crosman penetrator? Need something that'll penetrate a raccoon skull at 20 to 50 yards.
You need to look at accuracy first. The style of pellets don't make a significant difference as far a hunting. You need to look for most FPE and accuracy combined. Each rifle is specific. The FTT 14.66 worked the best in mine but you might have different results with your rifle.
I see what you mean about accuracy now. Been using the latest Walmart exclusive Ruger impact Max elite with Gamo rockets and crosman premier hollow points, some of which are customized, and never had much of a problem hitting a large raccoon head at 20 yards or maintaining decent grouping on Targets. Then I tried using ruger's cheapest pellets at Walmart. Maybe they will shoot straighter out of the swarm Magnum. Got a great deal and I'll be picking one up in a few days. Hope that experimental loading mechanism doesn't bust too soon. There's been quite a few editions of the mechanism from Gamo over the years and they've yet to patent it. So good luck to us both on that.
@@AirgunDetectives got it at a pawn shop. Just filed the wedge and flipped the seal. Kinda bummed cause the swarm system is denting the pellet skirts so i took it off. Im getting half inch groups at 15 yards so id hate to take it back.
That is a UTG 4-16x44 AO SWAT AccuShot Rifle Scope, EZ-TAP, Illuminated Mil-Dot Reticle, 1/4 MOA, 30mm Tube. Mounted on a Diana Bullseye recoil absorbing scope mount. Thanks for watching!
Hi Rodney, that is a UTG 4-16x44 AO SWAT AccuShot Rifle Scope, EZ-TAP, Illuminated Mil-Dot Reticle, 1/4 MOA, 30mm Tube. This is also their "TS" True Strength platform which can stand up to heavy recoil. The Bullseye mount is made by Diana, look for the best price on the internet. Thanks for watching!
I just got this and can't get the scope to zero. I got it in at about 25ft but when I moved it further out to 150ft its very inconsistent. I'm thinking I need to up grade the scope. What would you recommend putting on it that won't be too expensive
The scopes that come with those rifles need to be sighted in at about 20-25 yards. Your point of am will change depending on how close or far you are from tour target. That's why a mil-dot reticle works well because your can adjust your aim using the mildots. These are pretty good amzn.to/2WTn7QA
The stock scope on the stock rail won't hold zero under this thing's insane recoil. It will get destroyed. Get a good scope and definitely get a Diana ZR Mount. It's the only way a scope can survive on this thing.
Love your videos, I'm having alot of issues getting this dialed in. I've only shot about 50 rounds through it. It groups great with GTO pellets and gamo fire. 20 yards you can cover 3 shots with a dime. I can't get it on the bullseye or even as close as you are any ideas?
Go to my website and read the article I recently posted on Breaking-in your new Breakbarrel. www.airgundetectives.com All my .22 cal Magnums love the H&N Sport FTT 14.66 gr pellets.
I see you have another great video I am on the same level that you are on I prefer break barrel I have a hatsan 125 sniper vortex gas piston in 22 cal and I luv it but I wanna interested in another break barrel I was looking into getting another hatsan 125 but have my eyes on this as well which one you go with out of these two gun gor hunting purposes only and again great video
Hatsan makes some great guns. I have at least 15 of them if not more. I will be doing a review of all three calibers in the 125 sniper models. Thanks for watching !👍
