Ganesha - The Elephant God of Hinduism - See U in History Art: Marcus Aquino Color: Rod Fernandes #Mythology #SeeUinHistory #History #MythologyExplained
Though tbh the origins stories varies a bit in various regions of India, given how big the country is. In story I am most familiar with I guess the ganas searched for an animal that was sleeping with it's back to it's mother and the Elephant was the first one to be found in this position hence, why it's head was used.
For bit detail who wants to know, 2:05 >Shiva can't put his human head back as no god can undone the damage done by shivas weapons. + The version I know, Shiva instructed his companions to found head of any young animal who, >Sleeping with head towards north >Whose mother sleeping with her back towards it The elephant was the one with those conditions satisfied. It's the reason don't sleep with their head towards north. And mother facing her back towards the kid while sleeping is believed to be a bad sign.
Ganesha is depicted with an elephant head not for the sake of mythology but because his *gotra (tribe) was Matang Guhyak.* Matangs still retain their identity today. Buddhist Matangs include Rakta Jambhala, Guhyapati and Acharya Buddhaguhya. Jain Matangs include Dharanendra and Dharanendra. A Bonpo Matang was Tso-ndzi Gkv-dzu. Other common gotras today include Bharadwaj (partridge), Gautam (cow), and Kashyap (turtle.)
The Matang Guhyaks lived mainly originally in Vitala-Loka (modern-day Uttarakhand.) Today they reside in Maharashtra, which is where Ganesh is popularly worshipped.
@stanlee5035 it is...A myth is a traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of a people or explaining a natural or social phenomenon, and typically involving supernatural beings or events.
Two questions.. Shiv is the Strongest and full of knowledge, handles human’s all senses. And Gods always know what is in man’s head, So how he didn’t know that little guy was his son.. because Gods know every single thing happening in this world but he didn’t know about his own child. Second question.. in hinduism they don’t eat meat because they don’t want to hurt any animal, so why he killed an animal to fix his son and didn’t use human’s head? Just questions please don’t mind.
It was the head of Gajasura, an Asura with an elephant-like head, who Shiva replaced Ganesha's head with, not with an ordinary elephant. The story is metaphorical, and not literal, just as the 7 beast of revelations who emerged from the sea, being a metaphor for Governments, and Nation, and not a literal creature.
I've seen Ganesha once, just once, very deep in meditation, he was at the very border of reality. Perhaps just a familiar symbol representing a general notion related to him, but nonetheless substantiating and fascinating. I challenge and dare you all to discover elements of our collective unconscience.
Yes Ganesha is a worshiped deity worshiped by certain religious groups, but there is no such religion as "Hinduism." "The term Hindu was first imposed on South Asian nations by the dynasty of Ghori in the 12th century; this term was never used in south Asia prior to the Muslim era and is not even found in early (pre-12th century AD) Brahmanical or Buddhist texts. Such a term and concept has no historical depth in any social, religious, ethnic or national sense past the 12th century when Mohammed Ghori for the first time named his conquered subjects Hindus." [G. Singh, Sakasthan and India, Toronto, 1999, p. 20]
Hinduism is older than any other living religion. It began so long ago that no one really knows how old it is, but it goes back at least 5,000 years. The name 'Hindu' was given to describe the people who lived near the River Indus in India: the word 'Indus' became 'Hindu'.
there should be a correction about animal head Shiva told them to bring first baby animal head who is sleeping in opposite direction of his mother face so that his mother would not see her baby head less when she wakeup 😀 and I like the story line
@@anoymous4189 based on version it changes some version claim he knew it but still had to do it because he was constructed stuff left behind after bath .which cause ganesh to be undisciplined so he changed his head While Some claim he didnt know.
MISTAKE: 1. I was a gana head not a elephant head.. hence the name gana-pati (head of ganas). 2. Ganas are not humans and a gana head on a human body was not pleasant to look at, that upset Parvati. So he was blessed by many gods who give him weapons, wisdom etc just to please Parvati. But because Ganapati was made to protect from interrupters( hence the name vign-harta).. Laxmi granted him boon to be remembered before every other god. So before we pray to any god, we pray to Ganesha first so our prayers are uninterrupted in its course. This goes to so extreme, that before we begin prayers for Ganapati, we pray him before that. And because of this multiple remembrance he is known to all. And the through the ages long gana head morphed to elephant by the painters and sculptured. Not popular or anything. This is no popularity contest. This popularity belief is just that if you seek wisdom, god of wisdom will respond faster. Not that other gods cannot provide you wisdom. Same goes if you seek knowledge, physical power, wealth, calm, lust, calling, health etc.
Shiva couldn’t use Ganesha original head cause it got burned from what I found in my Hindu mythology research. Plus, his mother said she would turn into Kali the goddess of death, not a warrior goddess.
She did indeed turn into the Warrior goddess Durga and called all her navdurga( ferocious forms) and treathend the gods ,godesses, demons and all celestial beings that she and the nav durgas would cause mass destruction ,but the gods and Shiva calmed her down and promised to give Ganesha live again
@@user-cg2tw8pw7j every culture is different,i find it also weird that Jesus could do miracles and could not save himself being hanged from the cross ,so a bit respect towards other cultures could be nice than judging them
The story you said had lots of mistakes in it. If you want to explain hindu mythology please learn about it and then make a video don't trust every website you see in internet
By all means, correct him by commenting what they are instead of crying that a guy goes BACK to the place he got the "misinformation" from 🙄 unless youre scared of being called out too
Hinduism is a living religion not a mythology. Millions believe in the scriptures. Their not supposed to be used for gaining subscribers and likes. Only a hindu brahmin or a guru can teach sanatana dharma. Hinduism is a faith not to be compared or discussed with myths and legends. Why isnt this channel making abrahamic contents??
Because it was needed to shatter his ego...it was his destiny....the elephant head belongs to a demon elephant who got boon from shiva that he would get chance to be with God Shiva forever...this was the way...our mythology/history is complex...
The Creator is Allaah Exalted and Most High as is well known. To whom belongs the Kingdom of the Seven Heaven's and Earth and all in Between. Everything comes as the Creation so Worship is only for him for which we are Created too.. Idol or Statue Worship was no more than Untrue Myths and that's why was forbidden by Prophet Ibraheem until the last day.. God's Grace and Mercy comes free so nobody needs to go through any Idols. Prophet Ibraheem was the Father of the Prophet's and all The Prophet's were Paternal Brothers so no exemption can be made, even with the Final and Seal of the Messengers. Prophet Muhammad. Peace be upon them all and families.
Brother your content story is inappropriate next time pls ask any hindu friend proper story proper pronunciation Don't go with Google knowledge It's a request
Because Shivas trishul or trident 🔱 dissolves all sins, arrogance and other vices . Ganesha was arrogant at first so as a result when he was struck, his head separated and was destroyed therefore his head be put back on.
