When the orignal formula uses only single index for calculation (s&p 500) Do you really expect that when we copy/borrow from them, NSE will do wild mathematical gymnastic and calculate using multiple index for vix. Jab cooked 'kheer' is there , who will do the changes/inovation and then do additional work to justify the change that we have made. And don't you think its something we will endlessly boast about.

Sir basically....please correct if needed..... Vix 10-12 is above 16 of old calculation, Nifty approx movement 70- 150 points, Trending day Vix 9-10 is above 10-15 of old vix cal, Nifty approx movemnt 40-80 days , Sideways to Trending day Vix below 8.....No Trading or TBD untill we have more data

can anyone help to understand the differentiate the effect (bullish or bearish) of "short covering in call side" Vs "short covering in put side"..

Short covering means someone shorted it and now is covering because it is giving loss. Call short covering means that index moved up and call seller who shorted it was facing loss crossing SL, so he buys it back, thus the no of Call Oi decreases in market, additionally there will be people who will be buying a call option because market is going up. Thus at this point there is a double buying effect and supply of call has contracted, thus aa tripling effect. Thus it is short covering. Same can be interpreted for Put side

I still differ with you , bloody reminds me the sick days of UPSC reading comprehension. Sir when the paper says "movement of stock of nifty index" why expand it to include other index with nifty moniker.

Sir also the number of expiry are same , only their dates are changed, so the denominator in the calculations that you say is increasing is actually constant. Only dates have changed not the number of expiry. How it influences the flow of money is a different factor. Also this charasticts of low vix index is seen from the past year much before the recent changes. New hypothesis is required 😅

Heard you again , got the point of new index, The way I figure the different opinion is how you define nifty index. Can look into when the new index were traded and the low vix started, the same phenomenon is also on the USvix , some other thing is at play . May be some new algo on vix is the culprit
