Garage Walls Up + Floor Framing Details On Plans vs. In Person #10 

Yaaaassssss! Was looking forward to seeing some floor sheathing. But hey, that's what Saturday's are for!

How come you guys don't use floor trusses? As an electrician all I see are people using floor trusses instead of joists, mainly cuz they want their HVAC hidden in the floors and ceilings.

There are courses in community colleges. I have worked with a few people who have done the course. Ultimately, the best way to learn is play attention and learn on the job. School will help with the concept but not the actual application.

If you want a job with a reputable company all of your paper work should be in order so all of their paper work can be in order.

Jonathan, there is no US status called “undocumented resident”. I believe the term your searching for is “illegal alien” or “illegal immigrant”. I’m sure as a talented and hard working person you would want to clear up your immigration status prior to pursuing the construction industry. It’s only fair, and I wish you luck.

Gotta support that second floor load. See how that beam sits on 3 6x6’s? All that upstairs weight is gonna be transferred into those posts and then into the foundation. I’ll bet there’s some type of Simpson hold down on the bottom of those posts that goes through the sill plate into the stem wall.

I love what your doing and all the info your putting out especially letting all the youngsters know that you don’t need a collage degree to be successful. 22oz pingy steel isn’t for me. 16oz wood handle I can sink 16ds with ease. Not a fan of the steel handles.

It’s not really a global problem Darren, it’s a created situation to take advantage of every single one of us out here and using the virus as the scape goat! That’s the only way they can get away with it! There is plenty of lumber out here but the sawmills found out back during the shut down that they could continue to make record profits but also not run the mills at 150% capacity and do it with half the employee’s of normal just by raising prices under the pretense that its virus related and that there are bad shortages out here so they’ve instilled a false shortage out here just to be able to support its false price increase And demand caused by the Virus. We could easily fix this within one month if all builders would simply quit buying lumber for one month and cause an Excess supply to the point of shutting down the mills!! It’s all a fabricated shortage not a real one

I do all of our contracts, legal work, bidding, etc. Family business. When my Pops steps out, I’ll step in. I do have separate things I’m doing, property development and such that will be SOLO.

Because this is the US. We have an archaic power grid and a resistance to moving forward. Europe is at least a decade ahead of the US in overall implementation of technology in society. You'll notice in the US that the higher dollar areas don't have powerlines, everything is run underground. The low income areas often have the powerlines everywhere.. More Powerlines = Lower Income, No Powerlines = Higher Income.

I wont buy a $200+ hammer, just my thoughts though.. If Martinez didn't have the company / branding along with it, people wouldn't buy it..

@@MattBangsWood even the old timer essential craftsman praises a ti hammer. If I carried it everywhere and used it every hour a few bucks a day would would show a quick return.
