The Spokane Valley Fire Department is responding to a major incident on Upriver Drive, right near Pasadena Park Elementary School.
The Spokane County Sheriff's Office says the incident occurred just before 2:30 p.m. when a car reportedly driving recklessly crashed into a garbage truck.
SCSO says the driver of the car was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The garbage truck driver was conscious and taken to the hospital for further examination.
Upriver Drive is closed between Bessie Road and East Wellesley Avenue. SCSP says the road will be closed for several hours as crews investigate the crash.
According to WVSD, bus pickup will be slightly delayed and the routes will be altered. Parent pickup is at Nazarene Church.
