You better be proud of yourself! And Jason, too! Not only have you gotten all of this done in only a year but you also took time out for a broken foot! You and your progress, your creativity and your positive outlook give all of us the boost to get back in our gardens and keep plugging along! Thanks for all the inspiration!
Exactly.. her gardens are looking so nice and they have come along very good in a year. I can't wait to watch and enjoy the process as everything continues coming together over the next few years .. The plans they have are gonna look so nice once done.
This video is real gardening, the successes and failures are what makes a garden and a Gardner. Some RU-vidrs only show the good and they don't show how they got there and what they learned. Huge difference, remember to slow down and enjoy the journey.
I do remember when you moved into the empty property. You've done an incredible amount of work painting, planting, built a greenhouse, added a chicken coop, added a hot tub, raised beds, plus you added Monty to your family!! .....on & on. You and your family are incredible and a huge inspiration!! Congratulations! 🥂👏💚
What a difference a year makes, your property looks so beautiful you guys have put so much work in to it give yourselves a huge pat on the back for all the hard work you have done 😊👏🏻❤️🌼🌸
You should be so pleased when you walk out your front door and see all your family has accomplished this year!! Amazing!! Thank you for taking us along for this fun transformation! Enjoy!
Janey and Jason, you have both done such a wonderful job with your beautiful home. Your garden is magnificent. You have put so much thought into it, especially the great colour schemes. It is hard to believe how much it has grown and changed in one year! All of your hard work has paid off. The white pots are perfect, as they stand out against all the grey of the planter, and match the house.🌺🤍🌼The shiny, bright white, round plant pots create a clean, soft contrast against the straight rigid lines of the zig zag planter, and the square, or diamond shapes of the concrete pavers and gravel to their right. These pots are just large enough to be noticed, yet they visually blend in and don't steal the spotlight. Perfect!🐝💚🌻
Janey & Jason, Wow what a transformation! Thank you for keeping it real and showing both the successes and the fails. I’m so glad you kept the zigzag planter. You made that ‘ ugly duckling’ a stunning feature! You both should be so proud of all you’ve done in just a year! I can’t wait to see the plans for the center island come to life. Happy Birthday to Sadie! 🎉
Just a heads up ....I live in Niagara Falls , Canada ( zone 6B ), I planted Bearded Iris , and it took over two years before they flowered ....they got bulky but no flowers , but when they finally bloomed , wow , what a show....have patience
Janey, you and Jason have done wonders with this property. It is coming along so beautifully I can't believe how much you've changed it already. I was shocked to see how much the weeping willow has grown. Can't wait to see the videos of the center garden to begin.
One year! wow wow what a beautiful change. I know you want to get everything done. but take your time and enjoy the moments. there are so many. so beautiful! Its been so fun to go on this journey with you and the family. thank you for sharing.. Genie : )
You guys have done AHH-MAZING things in just one year. You, Jason, the girls, the guys… We are blown away by what all you’ve done. Love it. PS - I’m sure the land itself is loving the care and attention it’s getting after being neglected for so long.
What a difference!!! Makes me tired just watching this, haha! You should feel a great deal of satisfaction seeing how far you have come in such a short time, even with the foot problems. So fun watching the progress!
Tip for the figs: You can gently wash and dry your ripe figs. Then slice in half, bag them, and store in freezer. I use them all year frozen in smoothies (they give a consistency of ice cream) or in recipes.
There is so much life and color in your gardens! 🌺 You and your family have put in a lot of sweat equity into beautifying your property and it’s incredible what you’ve accomplished in one year’s time! I’ve been a fan of your zigzag planter since day one. It’s very unique! Happy belated birthday Sadie! 🎈🎉🇨🇦
I'm in the same zone as you, and when I learned that iris like 'the sun on their backs' I went to the base of the plant and pulled a little soil back and exposed a little of their tuber and they bloomed almost immediately (where they didn't bloom at all the previous year even after being well established)
You have accomplished so much in one year! You and Jason inspire me to get out in my garden every day. My half acre is nowhere near as planted up as yours, but many of the plants you recommend are going to be in my garden. Thank you for sharing your journey and your gardening community with us!
When I saw the new property I was like oh my gosh that is a mess. What is she thinking 😮 Now I see you had a vision. It’s so beautiful now. You have worked so hard with Jason and the girls. Thank you for sharing your garden. You have a lot of energy and talent.
Are you kidding me?? You guys are amazing with all you've accomplished! Way to go! I can't wait to see what you've got planned.. happy 1 year anniversary in your new home..
What you have done to your property is absolutely incredible! It will just keep getting better and better! I had some iris that did not bloom the first year but looked amazing the next. So hopefully next year they will be beautiful! Thank you for this wonderful tour and overview of your gardens!
It’s beautiful! I love how honest you are about your successes as well as your struggles! I have learned so much! Can’t wait to see what you do next! Thank you! Happy birthday to your sweet girl! Hope she had a wonderful celebration 🎉
Purple Fountain Grass could go in front of the propane tank. You could also use a metal screen (like the ones by the hot tub) to cover the propane tank.
Oh Janey, Jason, Sadie and Shae…what can be added that’s not already been said. The change is phenomenal, I know it’s all the work put into it, but still! Congratulations on bringing this property to life, it was dead before the Janey magic hit it! I’m so invested in your property, and can’t wait to see the magic for 2025! 🇨🇦👏🌸zone 3 Manitoba.
Janie, I think you should transplant the red fountain grass to the the area all around the propane tank. Would look great and probably hide it pretty well! Also, maybe you could grow the pineapple lily in your greenhouse? To keep it in hot humid climate?
What an accomplishment! The pomegranate tree is living its best life…so glad you kept it and I love your future plans to put in more crepe myrtles…and the sunflowers! Just lovely!
You should be so proud of all you have accomplished. Also for doing nothing on your center it sure looks like there was quite alot of work done and it looks beautiful. Love the flowers.❤
What a transformation!! Every month your garden looks better and better! I enjoy watching all the changes! Take time to enjoy the journey of growing a new garden!
My favorite changes are the path and patio! What an inviting entrance to your gardens!! Painting the zigzag planter black saved it!! The grasses soften the lines of it and give you such nice privacy. You and your husband have really upgraded and beautified your home substantially! I hope you take time to just sit back and enjoy it! Thanks for sharing your successes and failures! Have an amazing day!
Hi there! We watch your videos every time they come on - 5 a.m. in Illinois. We have learned so much from you, thank you. In reference to your Driveway Gate - we have a Aeko Steel Dual Swing Driveway Gate - LONDON Style - 16 x 6 Feet. They also sell Sliding LONDON and Free Shipping. Best money we have spent so far.
Janey, So happy you are leaving the pomegranate tree, the fountain is sp very beautiful and it gives y'all lots of privacy. Please leave it. The new pink petunias would look soooooo very beautiful with it❤❤❤❤❤
You should be proud for sure! I just love your diagonal pavers leading up to your deck. They don't look messy to me at all. Please don't ever change that. It's so creative 😊
Janey & Jason, Wow, seriously! Major change to this property. It is disappointing when the gophers attacked, but before they did all those plants looked great. The willow is amazing! You all have had so many projects and everything has made your property bloom and become a home. Gallons of paint, adding Monty, plus chickens and barn cats and so much more. Chasing off unwanted critters all over the place...and Jason going full time with you, and your wonderful online store. So much more. What an amazing year you all have had! Looking forward to tomorrow video!
With school back in full swing I am in full on fall garden prep and plant mode ❤❤❤ ty for being so uplifting and on a routine with your posting. I get so much from it (I care for my 3 smalls and both my parents) and the garden is our sanctuary
Such an amazing transformation. No need to make excuses about anything. You both have done such hard work, and it shows. I love the definition of the path, the trimming of the trees and the abundant color. From someone who can't grow pomegranate tree, what a fun tree. It looks like it has ornaments on it.
Hi Janey Gorgeous front yard tour, the no mow grass is going to look awesome, looking at the before pictures I was thinking wow alot of back bone went to you beautiful yard. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful rest of day. 👋🙂
I appreciate your comments on budget restraints. Why not take pieces of your lemon coral sedum and transplant it to extend it along your pathway? It’s such a vigorous growing plant it would fill in quickly. Those of us also on tight budgets would love to see that. Thanks for the tips on the edgeright metal edging. We used it along our pond pathway and couldn’t be more pleased with how easily it installed and how good it looks.
You have partially if not almost fully amended almost an acre of soil. You have taken out countless diseased trees/plants You have given enough new pollinators for the entire neighborhood worth of bees to thrive You have painted/done walkways/laid pavers/poured stone/added chicken and bunny playhouse/greenhouse/veggie planter section/etc etc etc etc and it gives so much inspiration that if you had a “black thumb” and then taught yourself to do THIS, we all can get out there and push to learn new things and plant new plants!
It's changed so much. I am so very proud of you, Jason and the girls. It don't even look like the same place. Everything is so very beautiful. A lot of hard, hard hard work. It's amazing. ❤❤❤❤
I've always wondered where your bees went, the ones in the back of your office when you first moved into your new home? I suppose you had the bees removed by an expert? Love all your gardens. I'd love an update on the inside of your house, and on the chickens and outside cats.
Janey, just fantastic! It's hard to see how far a garden has come until you look back with the before and after. In just one year, you have really transformed this property into a lush paradise - brava!
I live in Oklahoma, and am a collector of bearded Iris. I ensure all of my Iris beds get a few hours of shade. They seem to appreciate the little break. Love your gardens
Wow, I think you deserve gardenere of the year award for what you've accomplished in one short year Janey! Would you have believed how absolutely huge and gorgeous that purple fountain grass was going to be when you and Robbie planted it? I'm amazed at the gigantic size of it. Maybe it would be perfect around your propane tank temporarily! Wherever you decide to put it in the centre island it's going to be amazing. That was a wonderful garden tour of your front garden, and I can hardly wait for the back yard tomorrow! Congratulations on one year!
All the hard work you and your family put into the new property has transformed it into a garden. You should be very proud of what you have accomplished in such a short time, especially with your accident and subsequent foot surgery! I am definitely a #teampomegranate member, and glad that you kept it. Have you thought about possibly using Calibrachoas (aka "Million Bells") in your "Best of the West" garden? I discovered them this year, and they have held up with the heat and sun beautifully! When other plants are struggling, they just thrive and keep looking cheery and carefree.🥰💐
It is typical of Iris that they might not bloom the first year after planting. Our gardens are always a work in progress. You have basically start this garden from scratch. It just takes time as you well know. I just one year you have made a huge, huge difference, in your now beautiful garden.
I just found your channel after I watched your video with Jenny from Gardening with Creekside. So great to learn about Zone 9 plants that do well in a dry climate. I recall you and Jenny talking about hot and humid versus hot and dry. Amazing progress! Looking forward to tuning in on your journey.
Hi Janey! For your BOBO Hydrangeas, you can tack down a regular rain umbrella with landscape staples to help shield them from the intense heat from the sun. If you find light pink ones, they will be a pretty addition while you are waiting for them to recover. Also, when you don’t need them anymore, chances are other new plantings next year might need them too.
Your yard looks fabulous. I had a big tree used to make jam. Do not use as much sugar as recipe calls for. I started out with tablespoons and I only used about three tablespoons where it was calling for cups. I love my fig tree and gophers ate the roots and it fell over so watch out for the gophers
Your gardens look great!! I have lived in the country growing up and now. Leach beds are awesome!! I grow my best plants there. I think you are struggling because you are overwatering. Remember they are leach bed that have lots of moisture. Cut back on your irrigation. I live in Wisconsin and never ever water my leach bed. It has plenty of moisture on its own. I hopes this helps you out in the future. Love your channel!
