My backyard garden located in Santa Ana in southern California. I laid out 16" pavers throughout with high quality polymeric sand from Techniseal filled between the gaps. Trees planted in my backyard garden include Vietnamese guava, Allana sapodilla, Valencia Pride mango, sweet orange, Dr. White cherimoya, Brazilian papaya, longan and Thai Jumbo wax jambu.

Very nice garden, very clean,,, I did the same with my yard. I recommend you put some concrete edger around your tree for watering, so the water don't leak out...

Thank you for sharing your tropical back yard. In a couple years you probably won’t see your neighbors homes any more. Those tree look very healthy!! I’m jealous 😆😆😂 I live in zone 9b, my tropical fruit trees need more heat in the summer to produce more fruit !!.

Where are you in zone 9b? I've heard of people in zone 9b growing mangos so there is definitely potential there. You may need to be a little more vigilant during winter to give some protection to your plants on some of the coldest nights. Another option is to plant next to your house to get a micro-climate effect.

I’m in SB. I planted Keith mango and Maha Chanok tree 5 years ago. So far i got 1 Keith mongo two years ago and most of the maha chanok mango cracked and got moldy. The one that survived were about 4 inches size mangoes. Sweet and fragrant…. Guava and cherimoya does well here !!!😃

Really nice. Very clean yard. I live in Long Beach and have a small yard. I've been able to grow multiple papaya trees from seed. I have pavers also, but I still get a lot of thick dust and dirt. Lots of bugs too. I get these really big black fat spiders that jump. Do you get those? Your yard is so clean and neat. Great video.

Dust / dirt build-up is natural in So Cal. I get bugs in my yard too including the large black jumping spiders. These jumping spiders are harmless and beneficial. The one insect you need to watch out for is the locust. I try to kill them in all stages of their life cycle including when they are young and green. They eat leaves on trees and are a pest. Another pest to watch out for is the cock roaches. They are rare in my backyard because I keep my backyard clean and clutter-free.

@@vocalreview thanks for your reply. I thought I was the only one that got those fat black jumping spiders. I must have an infestation of them. They're everywhere outside my house. My backyard has pavers and saltillo tile, so I have a few tropical plants in pots and a few in the ground. Right now I have small mango trees that I have grown from seeds. I'm looking to buy a more mature tree soon. And the dust, yes it's endless. Ok. Lol y forward to more videos.

@@davidgardner1067 Count yourself lucky you have an infestation of the black jumping spider. I would love to own that infestation at my house.

@@vocalreview by all means you can come over and collect them all. I'm not afraid of them, I just can't stand looking at them or having one climb on me. I just imagine how their face looks like.

Looks nice! Can you do a video on watering and fertilization for your trees? Wondering if it's drastically different being under pavers.

Thanks J B. I water my trees when the soil is dry between watering. In the summer, this could be every 2-3 days. In the fall, it's about once a week and in the winter I may not water at all depending on how much rain falls. Each watering involves filling the brown tree irrigation bags you see in the video. I got these bags online from Home Depot. I would pump water into these bags and use them as drip irrigation. I also flood each tree 3X with each watering. This is done in the summer. In the fall and winter you will need to adjust your flooding and drip irrigation volume and frequency as needed to prevent root rot which can kill your tree. There must be a period for the trees to dry out before watering again.

J B, wanted to add that I have never used any soil amendments or fertilizers on my trees. For me, I have not seen the need to do so. Even my Keitt mango tree in Anaheim which grew from 3 to 15 feet in about 4 years did not take any fertilizers.
