So useful, thank you! Waited weeks for plumber s who didn’t turn up. Watched this, put my brave boots on, and had a go, and ... I now have a working outside tap! Maybe no big deal for most, but pretty chuffed I did it, and without flooding my home! 😊 Many Thanks again

Thanks for the help mate! Had a similar problem, the valve inside was a bit gunked shut but once I took the tap off, poked the valve free with a screwdriver it worked again nicely. I recommend having some PTFE tape on hand to reseal the tap thread when putting it back on.

Today it’s often easier to buy new than repair. The small nut you released is a drain point. Tbh the tap should be fixed to the wall and not floating .
